Obama’s bumpy start continues

From his flubbed oath of office, to tax cheat Treasury Secretary Geithner’s market downing $2 trillion financial bailout “plan,” Obama’s presidency has had a bumpy start.

Perhaps President Obama’s difficulty boarding Marine One is emblematic:

Do you think Obama’s head bump will make a David Letterman top 10 list?

My guess is they don’t teach Kenyan kids doors have door-knobs, windows don’t.

What, did you think his brother had a door know on his cardboard hut?

  • Streiff

so we’re told, but apparently that prowess doesn’t extend to doors on helicopters or at the White House

  • Illinicon

Unfortunetly I think the brain damage was done prior hitting his head on Marine one.

  • lonebeagle

Our Most Merciful, The One, returned the salute to the Marine at the helicopter–it was absolutely awful! B.O. shouldn’t salute unless he does it properly and who is he kidding?

At least when G.W. Bush saluted it was correct and you believed that he was doing so out of respect for military honor and courtesy.

I just hate it when liberal Democrats try and pretend that they respect anything about our military.

    • http://www.RedState.com/ETCartman Kenny Solomon

Duct Tape his hands behind his back so he can no longer deface honor, standards and a military courtesy he knows nothing and cares nothing about.

Mom’s Brother – my Uncle – was Army and a Full Bird JAG Circuit Judge when he passed way too young (25 years ago). Stationed in the DC area too (Meade). As a 2nd Lt, he saw combat time in ‘Nam and then stationed in Germany (Rhine-Main), moved up the ranks and into the legal office.

Knowing and deeply missing the man, I have a feeling my Uncle wouldn’t have taken kindly to Captain Eloquence as CinC.

    …His ears blocked his view

  • Kowalski

I know that since Redstate was founded it has gone from being a blog where primarily ideas were discussed to a place where a lot more of the content is tabloid, but even considering that, this is a sad example.

It doesn’t look from that video that he even hit his head. It looks more like he adroitly avoided the edge of the door opening, in fact. If this is the kind of stuff that makes the front page at Redstate now, maybe we really should think about how desparate the Republican Party is.

Sorry guys, I watched this video when it was first aired and it wasn’t as much as you’re making it out to be. It’s even stupider that you’re trying to make it out to be something other than it was. Obama actually looks like he grazed his ear there, but it wasn’t a bumped head.

    • Kowalski

It’s supposed to be tit-for-tat in the world of politics. I guess nobody is better than that. It’s kind of sad to see, and maybe that’s why Ben Domenech decided to found the New Ledger, which is not running this story.

Are they the “upmarket” Redstate now?

        • Kowalski

I like to make fun of Obama as much as the next person in one sense. But if we really want to do it right, stick to the policies, not the unfortunate photo-ops, not the tabloid stuff. The tabloids will do it themselves.

He’s going to be the most photographed President in history. Latching onto to that this early I think cheapens the message. We could do montage at the end of his Presidency, I suppose.

Believe me, there’s going to be a lot more to come in terms of policy that more richly deserves ridicule than this video does. Focus.

          • Kowalski

Obama’s biggest gaffes aren’t going to be visual. They’re not going to be the ones that show up as videos on YouTube.

Obama’s biggest mistakes are made in the area of policy, in terms of the things he does as the Commander in Chief and President. I’m sorry if I’ve gotten tired over the years of people making too much out of images. I felt it was horrendously unfair to GWB and I think it’s also beneath us to turn around so reflexively and repeat those kinds of games. I think it’s too cheap. It’s not where the real difference is.

          • barry915barry

Personally, I think he is off to a very rough start, I think that he really believes the stuff he is shoveling is fertlizer for the gardens and not just plain old s***. At the end of 4 years, we can laugh heartily when someone has the video of the door hitting him in the rear as he is on his way out. (Sorry, couldn’t resist.)

          • David123

but don’t mock the person the way kids would mock other kids at school.

A lot of what REDSTATE stands for is simply good policy or good civics and we want to attract people who don’t realize how often conservative principles lead to good policy to be able to figure it out, and become more conservative themselves.

    • randy streu

especially in regards to the first paragraph. Sure, it’s fun to make fun of The One, But if this is the stuff on the front page, it’s no wonder the rest of the site is in so much decline.

      • Barrick Arnold

Big-ear comments? Thinly-veiled allusions to his cardboard shacks in Kenya?

This has gone from trivial to subtly racist.

        • gekster

And why knock on the fun. Go and dig up the Chinese door thing with Bush, and what the left said about that.
Sorry some of us are too low brow for some of you.
And for the ears thing, don’t let Dumbo know.

        • http://www.ssce.net/Web-Articles/Web-articles-indexed-authors.html#authors-l JLenardDetroit

          you are so pathetic

        • barry915barry

I have reviewed lots of your comments and as my great grand-pappy the bloodhound used ta say, if it looks like a troll, acts like a troll and smells like a troll………..well you get the picture. You seem to stir the pot with out really adding any seasonings. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

          • Tbone

He is just deficient in so many ways.

Lip references can be racist, flat nose references can be racist, but, being a white conservative and by liberal definition a racist, I can say with certainly I would never use ears in a racist manner.

His brother does live in a shack in Kenya. I am unsure if the door is cardboard or the more durable and preferred tin. In either case, it would be nice if Barry the Hopeful would send Bro a few bucks for some new floor coverings and window treatments.

          • barry915barry

Just because he is not “masquerading”, does not mean he is not just stirring the pot-just to stir for stirring’s sake. (Say that 10 times real fast). I just do not think he is actually trying to add to the discussion in any meaningful manner.

        • Streiff

          trivial to being banned.

All through the election season every freakin comment about Obama’s obvious lack of experience, competence, accomplishment, or maturity was met with “that’s racist.”

The man’s president. I’m not putting up with the particularly vile type of asshattery.

they would have kicked both of us off by now. I mean, how many places would let you argue with yourself? LOL

BTW, this kind of stuff is just fun. Gerald Ford was mocked relentlessly for being clumsy and those folks were serious.

Obama seems capable of stubbing his toe while he is walking on water.

      • Kowalski

But I did it to make a point.

This is Black History Month. It’s the first Black President in the history of the United States. Our policy differences are really stark and sharp, and I think that’s where we should concentrate. This isn’t about people bumping their heads on Marine One as a kind of retribution for the stories about Bush bumping his face, bumping his head, etc.

I don’t believe that kind of retribution helps our cause. I think it makes us look petty. I think it distracts from the real problems. And I think it is transparently vengeful.

‘Vengeance is Mine, I will recompense, saith the Lord” – Romans 12:19-21

Our task as regular people is to point out the very real flaws in his very real policies. That’s the best way forward in my mind.

        • http://www.ssce.net/Web-Articles/Web-articles-indexed-authors.html#authors-l JLenardDetroit

…. over and over and over…. the double standards and for whatever few (younger fools fresh out of Indoctrination and potential others) that might still be reached if they can finally catch-on to MSM bias and that their support has all been garnered based on lies and spin….

yeah, unlikely…. but I have “Real HOPE” TM ;-)

          • Kowalski

I don’t think people care about the “double standard.” It’s something that Rush Limbaugh trades too heavily on in my opinion, when he does. It’s much better to talk about policy errors, not perceived unfairness. Everyone says the other person is unfair to them. It’s an epidemic in America, and that’s as far as it goes. “Oh, they’re so unfair” as though that was important. **OF COURSE** they’re unfair: they’re you’re adversary!

          • Kowalski

If this post was written well, it would have said:

“Look! It’s not just GWB that bumped his head on Marine One!”

Because that’s all it’s about. It’s just pure comeuppance for that story. I thought GWB bumping his head was a distraction, and I’m just kind of shocked that anyone wants to bring it up again.

If you want to live in an eye-for-an-eye world, move to Saudi Arabia.

          • Kowalski

You know, it’s easy. It’s silly. Cher is just Cher, and even though she can’t understand why anyone would want to be a Republican, I can completely understand why she wants to be a Democrat. It’s pointless to get angry at Cher because that’s just who she IS.

Republicans didn’t almost kill Cher, she’s bigger and better than ever for someone her age. The only thing that ever almost killed Cher was Cher herself. But making fun of her is just silly.

          • gekster

Thats like Schumer’s recent statement that Americans didn’t care about pork in the bill, or whatever he said.
            People do care.

          • Kowalski

I apologize for that. I care about it too, but I have a very, very dark side sometimes, particularly when I know that we’re about to get news like what Erick just posted at the top of the front page.

I care about the pork in the bill and I care about the bill itself, and I care about the double standards, or at least I cared more about them when I thought there was something we might do about them. It’s very depressing to think that none of that matters, despite the millions of words that have been expended here on Redstate and elsewhere in the past few years.

In any case, I do care, at least most of the time. I just have a hard time believing sometimes that anyone else outside a few people here do.

          • gekster

I was pay back for the cheep shot hit on Chris Draper in Colorado the season before.
Chris Draper, after a long shift, was gliding bent over with his hands on his knees to the open door at the bench when Claude Le Miou came up from behind and shoved Draper into the frame of the door, doing great damage to Chris’s face.
Worse yet was that Draper’s head was down while he was bent over.
Claude got his. And Micky Redman loved it.
This was a long, hard fought game, and I mean that literaly.

those were the days my friend
we thought they would never end
we’ed sing and dance for ever and a day
we lived the life we choose
            we’ed fight and never loose
those were the days oh yes those were the days
            or something like that.
For those who don’t remember that one, sing Glory Days

and the Marine at the bottom would have saluted it as it rolled by, it would have been even funnier.
