Obama launches propaganda war against Republicans

Mike Allen reports that as resistance builds against President Obama’s extreme left-wing agenda that spends too much, taxes too much, and borrows too much, Obama counters with propaganda bold enough to match his audacious attempt to move the nation far to the left:

The White House on Sunday began harnessing  every part of the Democratic Party’s machinery to defend President Obama’s budget and portray Republicans as reflexively political, according to party strategists.

Obama’s aides used the Sunday interview programs to launch the multifaceted and misleading propaganda assault:

  • On ABC’s “This Week,” White House economic adviser Larry Summers said the president had proposed a “strategic budget” that “will let us have a sound economic expansion” through a combination of “substantial cuts” and new spending on education, health, energy and environment.
  • The president himself plans to carry that message in the coming week, “engaging directly with Congress more, and speaking more forcefully on behalf of his budget,” a top adviser said.
  • The Obama grassroots network—now known as Organizing for America, a project of the Democratic National Committee—has launched an e-mail campaign to generate support for Obama’s extremist agenda.
  • The propaganda alliance — the administration, Congressional Democrat  leaders, outside groups and the DNC—are uniting for the propaganda war to try and deflect attention from the size of Obama’s budget and blunt attacks on Obama’s lurch to the far left.

Obama’s propaganda war, is so misleading it would bring a smile to the originators of the “big lie.”

The false idea behind Obama’s grand disinformation campaign is that Republicans are just saying “no” to the Obama agenda without offering their own alternative. This falsehood easily qualifies as a big lie. It is simply not true that Republicans are just saying no. As House Minority Whip Eric Cantor told David Gregory on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” Republicans did offer an alternative to Obama’s so-called stimulus bill, and they will issue their own budget proposal in the next few weeks.

According to Allen, the propaganda alliance hopes to at least change the conversation from criticism of the Obama agenda, the fact that Obama is going to raise taxes in the middle of a recession and Obama’s socialist tendencies.

Obama has invited the criticism with his huge bailout boondoggle and budget outline that calls for the largest deficit in U.S. history and a doubling of the national debt.

What is it that Republicans are actually saying no to?

  • Trillions in new spending.
  • Trillions in additional national debt.
  • An unpopular, earmark-laden spending bill that the President was too embarrassed to sign in public.
  • A new national energy tax.
  • Releasing Gitmo terrorists into the U.S.

No wonder Obama must resort to a big lie style propaganda war to support his lurch to the left.

Advancing Democratic Party and Fascist propaganda since 1968.

Actually, it began well before that, but following the 1968 Democratic National Convention, the Democratic Party and the partisan press vowed to never let the American people know the truth regarding the Left’s true identity or their oppressive agenda.

    • The_Gadfly

with FDR, and Jonah Goldberg makes a good case that it dates to at least the time of Woodrow Wilson. It shows up in subtle things like never taking a picture of FDR that actually shows him in a wheelchair up through major “open secrets” like JFK’s dalliances. I regard the adoption of the term “Nazi” as one of the most successful salvos in the campaign of lies. It completely obscures the Socialist part of “Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei” while permitting one group of progressive leftists, the international socialists in the USSR to define the Nazi’s as a “right-wing” party because they were ever so infinitesimally to the right of their party, and there by smear anybody else on the right for the corruption, debauchery, and slaughter propagated by an objectively leftist party. If Americans ever recognize this truth, no leftist will ever be elected again. The MSM help promulgate this meme in the 1930′s and 40s and know they have to keep it up even now or the whole thing will definitely collapse in on them.

      • rbdwiggins

One could venture further back in time than the 1930′s, but I chose the age of television on purpose. Too few Americans have any historical perspective that pre-dates their birth.

When was the last time you saw anything like this on network television? (Sorry, embed disabled by request.)

And, that was “inside” the convention hall.

        • Mike gamecock DeVine

I don’t deny the circumstances before TV that are mentioned and radio may also have caused a lesser version (I do think that the FDR protection on the wheelchair was more a matter of good taste participated in by all, incl repubs), plus, there is an inherent attraction for liberals to journalism – I will try and find the link to a brilliant column on this by a liberal from a year ago.

But, most of our history was one of almost ALL partisan press with dems and repubs, federalists and whigs, having their respective newspapers in cities.

The limitations on broadcast TV channels made it possible for libs to monopolize the three networks that most Americans got their news from.

It was impossible for them to monopolize radio and esp newspapers before TV.

    • robmikpet

The MSM is on the case. They will report on all the Obama lies…whats’ that?, sorry doctor I’ll go back to my room now.

  • USNJIMRET

It is completely unreasonable to assume they will not do so, and often.
Stand by to hear any number of Barney and Nancy types claiming their poor staff has been deluged with emails and phone calls totally supporting the President.
    We are, potentially, so screwed!

    • robmikpet

but FDR packed the Supreme Court and they came down with a decision that the Congress can spend on anything under the “Common Good” provision. Totally bogus invention by the court but there you go.

When a modern day Gibbon writes the “Decline and Fall of the American Empire” it will start right at this court decision.

A “new” consortium of powerful groups including George Soros “I will fund the destruction of America”‘s MoveOn.org. Yes, this is going to be UGLY!! I think we need to say clearly and say often just what it is we are saying NO to:
    * Trillions in new spending.
    * Trillions in additional national debt.
    * An unpopular, earmark-laden spending bill that the President was too embarrassed to sign in public.
    * A new national energy tax.
    * Releasing Gitmo terrorists into the U.S.

When was he ever in the center?

    • randy streu

Obama’s rhetoric may have OCCASIONALLY been centrist, but anyone who thinks he was ever anything other than what he is were clearly fooled into it. Anybody who bothered to really pay attention to the man has to see that where he’s going now is exactly where he was coming from the whole time.

are for the consumption of the Brainless that would even begin to consider voting by pulling the JackAss lever…. The soundbites are provided for the MSM sake, so the can play on them (continuation of covering for the Product that is “Obama” which they SOLD MSM pre-election coverage slants) while ignoring the real Obama and agenda in order to keep the morons in our country asleep!

        • randy streu

The Democrats’ best friends are the idiot and the naive idealist.

  • randy streu

and, as usual, we SUCK at information warfare. Don’t get me wrong. We’re better by far than the Left at collecting and sorting actual facts. But when it comes to creating a narrative, and selling it hard, the Dems are kicking our “collective” butt.

The challenge we have is that the Truth is rarely as fascinating as a well-told lie. And The People, as sad as it seems, and as cynical as this makes me, would rather be entertained than informed.

  • http://franklinslocke.blogspot.com/ franklinslocke

This propaganda will not work. The People are waking up and see their taxes higher and their 401ks gone. The Tea Parties are growing. 5,000 showed up in Cincinnati this weekend. Cincinnati is a Democratic stronghold. The People are not buying it anymore.

The GOP just needs to keep pushing their message and educating the People of the truth. It is getting out there slowly. They just need to keep talking the talk and walking the walk and prove to these dissatisfied citizens they have solutions that work.

Dems have controlled Congress since 06 and this should be stressed whenever the Rebs say anything on the budget, as the Dems were the one that wrote it/pssed it.

      • randy streu

the fact that Dems have controlled Congress since ’06 had been our mantra the entire election. People have to be made to care. Simply telling them, or even showing them, is clearly not enough (let’s face it: if facts were all we needed, BHO wouldn’t be in the WH making our lives miserable right now).

It isn’t enough to simply keep pushing. We need new strategies in getting that message out, and in making it SEEM as relevant as it ACTUALLY IS.

        • djemi

the ‘What have the Dems done since 06′ website/campaign.

            when do we begin?

          • furious

…than you were before Speaker Pelosi?”

Rush Limbaugh as “the face of the Republican Party” is alot more appealing than Speaker Pelosi and Majority Leader Reid as “the faces of the Democratic Party”. Just a blooper reel for either set to ‘repeat’ ought to be enough to flip a few close House Seats.

The Democrats seem to still be worried, hence the attacks/spin continues against Republicans and more-so Conservatives…..

However, I often wonder if they really have much to Fear? As we SAVAGE ourselves!!!

Now, I myself have voiced great concerns and have not felt the least bit of remorse for speaking out against many…. There are many RINO’s I want out, even if it means only putting another RINO in that same seat (gives us at least someone new/fresh that might be a tad more cooperative).

What I am referring to is the degree to which some savage more than others. The Fact remains, that we are indeed “fighting for the Soul” of the Republican Party and I want Conservative values/people to Win in that Fight!!!! Just sayin’…. we gotta not DESTROY the entire Party/movement in order to save it, or there is nothing but the Conservative and/or Republican brand being in a Permanent Minority Rule position…. While I do NOT want to give Obama a chance, I do want to stay “cordial” (for many of you that will read: Michael Steele) with fellow Republicans in “REAL Hope” (TM) that I/we can influence their thoughts/behavior to be more Conservative!

As for Steele…. Not impressed so far! He’d better step up soon and remember he is supposed to be talking about alternatives to Democrats and the Socialist agenda … IGNORE THE DARN RUSH QUESTIONS and the like, already…. He needs to remember he will NEVER be the MSM darling that John McCain is, so stop playing into their moronic narrative and start putting forth OUR (Republican PLATFORM) MESSAGE!

I’ll still defend his “hip-hop” comment…. Meijer, Kmart, Target, WalMart, etc… all sell the same Tide and/or many other of the same products…. THEY MARKET THOSE SAME PRODUCTS TO DIFFERENT MARKETS IN A FASHION THAT REACHES THEM THOUGH – That is the “hip-hop” message…. NOT that we change the message or the Platform to open it up and Change it, but that we MARKET it more effectively! We do NOT Pander to Groups, but it is just plain dumb to not think you sometimes have to work on the delivery methods! You don’t blast Thrash-Metal out speakers at a Country-music audience OR VICA-VERSA!!!!!! Simple marketing, let’s remember the correct arguments to be having. Noting wrong with “targeted marketing” as long as it is indeed an honest representation of the same Product.

  • peg_c

But the announcement of this proves a few things:
    1. The tea parties are scaring the statists
    2. Even the Obama elites are having buyer’s remorse
    3. The campaign against Rush was a miserable failure
    4. More and more people disbelieve the crap coming out of the Dems so they have to shout a lot louder.

Short term: misery. Long term: Potentially enormous backlash. This is their greatest fear. We have to hang in there and fight back.

Obama has been one continuous propaganda war since his mother saw an opportunity to make a new man socialist.

  • RedSonja2000

You mean they’re going to take the Gitmo terrorists and just drop them off at random street corners in the US?

    Surely, you can’t mean that.

You mean they are going to put the Gitmo terrorists in US prisons which are too flimsy and weak to adequately house them?

    Is that what you mean?

Darn that Obama! Putting us all in danger like that . . .

    • http://moelane.com/ Moe Lane

We want to make sure that you folks get your fair share.

      No, I’m not joking.

The Obama team pulls out the old campaign database and gives the ‘bots their marching orders. People can probably download talking points and sample sign slogans at the site. About as real as astroturf.

Meanwhile, the press refuses to cover real grassroots initivatives like the Tea Parties, which are building in numbers and momentum. And no one in control of the bitter and clingy masses showing up at these things! How soon before the Attorney General decides that these gatherings are getting out of hand and starts to direct local gov’t to stop issuing permits for these events?

  • HMHaanpaa

and attend a Tea Party. Activism has been idle for the R brand so this may test the other side. What happens after the Tea Parties is unknown but they are a start.

  • avgamerican

Obama is going to be busy speaking to put out the fires he is creating by his own propoganda. I can’t think of a president that had such a short honeymoon. Will he make it or will he resign? Will he fire staff members and secretly ask for desperate help? I wouldn’t be concerned about Obama and his propoganda campaign. Obama is going to self-destruct in his first term.
