Thousands join tax day TEA party protest in Hartford

In Hartford, part of New England which has only Democrat representation in D.C., the tax day Taxed Enough Already (TEA) party protest drew a crowd of thousands:

An anti-bailout, anti-stimulus “tea party” at the state Capitol in Hartford on Wednesday drew an estimated crowd of 3,000 to protest what they consider excessive government spending on the day that many Americans pay their federal and state taxes.

There is video from the Hartford TEA party. I can’t get it to work here, but you can watch it at the Courant or my Right Side Politics column at the Examiner.

The Hartford Tea Party was one of the hundreds held across the nation yesterday. In Connecticut, TEA party protests also took place in Greenwich, New Haven, New Milford, Norwich and Westerly.

As I said previously, contrary to the spin the spend too much, tax too much and borrow too much Democrats and their supporters in the still Obamamania infected mainstream media would have you believe, this is not a Republican or a Fox News movement. As Glenn Reynolds explains, the TEA party movement is a spontaneous grass roots protest.

I Had a Blast!

I was there. When I showed up I was in awe, you sometimes get the feeling that you’re alone in your thinking, especially in Connecticut, and then you go to one of these things (my first) and wow. Real people like me, aka “Right Wing Extremist”. I was so proud that I actually teared up, not like that’s hard for me, I’m the female Glenn Beck, show me a flag and I cry, play God Bless the USA and I cry.

The signs were very creative. I took pictures of all the signs. I only saw one guy with a chocolate lab wearing an Obama tee shirt, not sure why he was there, but oh well the dog was adorable.

If Hartford has another one on July 4, I’m there.

sh!#less. Most of you have probably picked up on the latest liberal meme: astroturf. Even ardent abortion supporter and Catholic Nancy Pelosi is getting in on it. I just heard her on the radio lying about how the tea parties were just “astroturfing” organized at the “high end” of the Republican hierarchy by people who want to “continue the failed policies of the Bush administration.” That’s right Nancy, whenever things get desperate, at least you have the old standby of insulting the Bush administration and average Americans.

Providence, RI Too

I would argue that RI is even more blue than CT. (Yeah they use to have Chafee but don’t let that kid you, Linc Chafee is more liberal then Ted Kennedy. Dad was pretty liberal too in everything except defense)

Over 2k showed up in providence. I was shocked when my mom emailed this article this morning. All this time I thought my family were the only conservatives left in the state.

I successfully converted my parents to the conservative side. They still reside in the same house I grew up in in Providence, RI.

Take Care, mailloux

What do liberals call a grass roots meet up

Dan, you’ve got some sort of typo in your article, because the Glenn Reynolds link (also note typo in his name) doesn’t work (and its source doesn’t offer any pointers on an obvious correction, either, no guesses on how that happened). :-)

Wish I’d had time to go to one of these, but now’s an especially bad time to be away from work, so I had to punt. If things keep up through July 4 I’ll try to swing by a protest then (it’s apparently a Saturday this year), but a weekday event is hard for me to make, especially since, perhaps unusually, I actually like my job.
