Americans believe Obama’s release of CIA memos endangers national security

Rasmussen finds 58% of Americans believe the Obama administration’s recent release of CIA memos endangers the national security of the United States.

Sizable majorities of Republicans and unaffiliated voters say the release of the CIA memos about the interrogations hurts national security. Democrats are evenly divided on whether the release hurt national security or helped the image of the United States abroad.

Other findings:

  • Americans don’t want an investigation of how the Bush administration treated terrorism suspects. Only 28% think the Obama administration should do any further investigating of how the Bush administration treated terrorism suspects, 58% are opposed. Democrats are evenly divided over whether further investigation is necessary. Seventy-seven percent of Republicans and 62% of voters not affiliated with either major party are against more investigating.
  • Just 42% of all voters say terrorism suspects were tortured by the United States, unchanged from October 2007. Most Democrats (54%) and a plurality of unaffiliated voters (46%) believe the United States did torture terrorism suspects. Fifty-five percent (55%) of Republican voters do not believe torture was used.

No wonder President Obama is now backing away from investigating the Bush Administration.

So is this all just a smoke and mirror stunt to keep the media away from asking the BO admin question on these so called more important issues? I think so, as May 2nd is just around the corner. I say this thinking of the AIG bonus vs Fannie/freddie bonus bs.

The release of the memos was misdirection to rile up the populace and distract them from the debate on cap and trade, card check, universal healthcare and give them a better chance to pass in congress while no one is really looking and possibly even as a not so subtle threat to congress people to toe his line or he can open up some cans of worms.

The O didn’t link with Rev Wright and Bombardier Ayers for nothing. This is a continuation of the man’s destructive feelings towards America and political opposition. Could you imagine the office of the president going after a radio talk show host? The pettiness and clumsiness of that bordered on the stunning. And now the torture thing, even worse in it’s stupidity, as who didn’t know about congressional briefings and the potential for this non-story getting shot down.
And still they can’t shut the moron Pelosi up.
You are going to see more of this, The O didn’t pick Emanuel for nothing. To them it’s vendetta time, settling scores, and the fun of revenge.

In the meantime, Pakistan will take care of itself, not to worry.

Getting rid of Rasmussen would go a long way towards eliminating those embarrassing polling questions voters sometimes get…

Since I live in California and have a mom and a brother who voted for Obama and beleive the man walks on water no matter what, I sometimes feel as though all is lost.
While this poll about the memos is encourageing, why in the heck does every other poll show that the majority of people in this country feel like my mom and brother do about the man?
I’m not certain we can survive four years of this much less eight. I know I can’t. I felt energized by the tea parties, but pray they were not wasted effort. I don’t want to see a third party candidate rise up and give Obama a second term but can anyone out there tell me where there is a strong, CONSISTENT CONSERVATIVE leader in the republican party?
I realize this is only 100 days in, but man, this is ugly and show tirals by the likes of those morons pelosi and conyers make sick to my stomach.
Add to that cap and trade, national health care and the bank power grab, the lunitics are running the asylum and they have no intention of ever ever giving up control again.
