Specter’s 30 pieces of silver

According to the Associated Press, Specter’s decision to switch rather than fight came cheap. All it took was for President Obama to promise to campaign for Specter in next year’s Pennsylvania Democratic
primary.

Of course, Gibbs denied any promises were made to get Specter to get him to become a Democrat. But then Gibbs denied President Obama bowed to King Abdullah.

There are unconfirmed rumors about that Specter was promised the chairmanship of the Appropriations Committee.

From word of the switch to Obama calling the traitor. All the other things going on, new gaffes to make, and the top priority is to call a sitting Senator who is switching parties.

Of course, I trust Obama’s promise to campaign about as much as I trust Specter to vote Democratic consistently. Who knows what the truth will be tomorrow.

I’m wondering if there were any Pennsylvania democrats that had their eye on his seat. Did Arlen step on some toes in assuming that he would be the new crown prince of Pa. dems? I think it would be “justice done” if a one of them challenged him in the democrat primary and beat him.

I believe Arlen Specter is going to be surprised when the next election rolls around. Democrats are famous for stabbing people in the back and breaking promises. One prime example of that is President Obama. Specter did not espouse any of the values that the Republican Party stands for so I say good riddeence to Specter. For us here in the state of PA, we now will have a candidate, Pat Toomey,a Republican who is a conservative and will fight for those values that we believe in and cave in like Sen. Arlen Specter. Specter can now join in with the rest of the Democrats in demoralizing and pick and choosing which parts of the Constitution that they actually want to follow.

Otherwise, they will run a primary challenger against him. For all the talk of him already being a Dem, he’s got a long history of voting against the Dems and with the GOP on critical issues: the war on Iraq, tax cuts, various post 9/11 anti-terrorism/civil liberties legislative battles.

The Dems threw out Lieberman. They’ll throw Arlen out just the same if he doesn’t conform.

My suggestion to Arlen: be honest with yourself. Change your affiliation to the Party of Arlen Specter.

the Demoncrats won’t primary him with a hard liberal they know they can count on? Especially if Toomey continues to lead in the polls they’ll cut him loose faster than you can say “scalpel”.

        • Return to Revolution

If the race looks tight I wouldn’t be surprised if they throw him under the bus first chance they get. And how awesome would that be.

It doesn’t matter that you have now joined the party you have favored with your votes, you would have voted with them anyway, whatever party you belong to. Now if only we could get Snowe, Collins ad McCain to follow you, we just might have a chance to pick up some real Republicans with principles.

Add him to the list of Jeffords, Chafey, etc. So, now that we’ve lost ALL of the new england congressional seats, and have been entirely obliterated at nearly everly level of government there, on the west coast, and everywhere else following the “big tent” rino candidacy strategy, can we please return to only nominating for offices and supporting real conservatives? Seriously, how long do we bloody our head on this brick wall before the message sinks in?

    Toomey 2010.

  • valdez

..didn’t wan his fate decided by the PA republicans? That’s arrogance. Beat it.

“I am not prepared to have my 29 years’ record in the United States Senate decided by the Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate.”

What a guy. He had no problem accepting the votes and the money of the “Pennsylvania Republican primary electorate” the last five times, though, did he?

Time to pack for the Old Senators’ Home, Arlen. I foresee involuntary retirement in your future!

And Dems? What a gem of a guy you gained. Enjoy him! But be sure to count the silverware when he leaves.

Of course Corruptocrats are thrilled. See with all these outrageous things happening most people won’t even remember what moves were made. Are most people really paying attention? Its warfare time in terms of messaging.

This guy demeans his own voters. I have never seen such a politician.

      SHAME ON YOU SPECTER!!!

Unless my history is wrong, Simon Cameron and Galush Grow were the only Pennsylvanians to switch parties- from Democrat to Republican.

Cameron was a secretary of war that switched from the ?Know Nothing? Party (that would be Democrats) after he couldn?t get a nomination.

Grow switched after Pierce signed the Kansas-Nebraska Act. He became Speaker of the House and once had a brawl on the floor with southern Congressman Keitt from South Carolina.

Specter just made history, he switched the wrong way.

By the way, part of the deal was to clear his potential primary opponents so Specter would not have any challengers; so much for democracy in Pennsylvanian. He has now become the epitome of Obama politics.

Specter has just sold out an entire country. Again.

      May he rot in hell.

What did Gibbs have to say about Bush bowing to the king? Noted right-wing commentator Charles Johnson swears he did, and has photographic evidence to back it up. Were you up in arms over that? I ask in all seriousness; I didn’t read the site back then.

    • JadedByPolitics

he KISSED and HELD HANDS with the sheik and YES WE WERE UP IN ARMS….go back to your mental hell that is you know your head!

      • GLV

Sorry if I upset you further by asking a question. Mental hell, indeed.

First, for the record, I seem to recall the images of President Bush holding the hand while walking with a Saudi Prince on the Walker Ranch…. it would help if you had the facts straight….. Now, Silly/Strange? YES! but a matter of showing respect and not a big deal, as it was not part of some bigger scheme of subordinating the US to other nations… ie. Obama’s (BLAME AMERICA) Apology tour…..

As for Obama and his “bowing.” Again, as a matter of showing respect. I have NO PROBLEM with it…. That puts me in the minority…. A little thing that in and of itself means little and was/is blown out of proportion, IMO. As for the added speculation that he also kissed his hand/ring…. well….. HOWEVER – If Obama were to BOW TO THE JAPANESE PRIME-MINISTER, as bowing is a sign of respect, we can then easily say it is just a desire to show respect and he was being CONSISTENT in a willingness to show respect to the Culture. He, of course, is NOT consistent in that. This was NOT respecting Culture, but another FAILURE to grasp the HISTORICAL PROTOCOL set by countless DEMOCRATS and Republican Presidents that came before him. Obama, and his crew, are either too stupid to check Protocol in advance or just don’t give a damn – probably both!

Again, in the vacuum of just this one incident – it is and means NOTHING! Where you are too stupid to understand is that nothing on the Global stage is done in a vacuum. It is the sum total of all the parts of Obama’s (more-so, the entire American Progressive Left) desire to put the enemies of our Nation and way of life like Chavez, Castro, etc…. above our Friends and Historical Allies that makes him (the big Zero) offensive.

Calling Charles Johnson right-wing said it all, really.

      G’bye.
