Obama plays golf instead of deciding whether to send more troops to Afghanistan

McChrystal issued his report 8 weeks ago, when will Obama issue a decision?

Obama spent the day golfing instead of making his long awaited decision about sending more troops to Afghanistan.

For weeks, President Obama has been indecisively dithering about whether to send more troops to Afghanistan to fight what he correctly calls a “war of necessity.” General Stanley A. McChrystal’s report, in which he requests more troops, was issued at the end of August.

The Commander in Chief, taking political heat for not having enough women in his inner circle, found golf a more important political expediency than finally making the Afghan decision. There was so much heat that an article in the New York Times began, “Does the White House feel like a frat house?” Obama apparantly needed headlines proclaiming that he golfs with a woman, more than he needed to make the life and death decision as to whether he will send more troops in support of his “war of necessity.”

Obama’s Afghan indecision has gone on for so long, some wonder if Obama has delayed his long overdo decision until after this year’s gubernatorial elections in New Jersey and Virginia in order to help struggling Democrat candidates Jon Corzine and Craig Deeds. Others have simply concluded that Obama is ignoring Afghanistan and breaking his vow to fight his “war of necessity.”

Basically so damned frightened of finally being responsible/accountable for the deaths of military and civilian personnel, that he just too scared of making a decision.
In other words, as Commander in Chief of the United States Armed Forces, he is a coward.

There is no doubt in my mind they are going to come up with some half-baked plan as to not tee off the moonbats too much, and they’ll spin it to the media that it is some improvement over McCrystal’s plan.

Perception is reality to Obama, so the idea of sending 10-20k troops instead will signal to his base that he isn’t going to be led around by his generals. But, he couldn’t give a damn that the perception of him dithering only emboldens the enemy (and results in higher US casualties). They don’t vote in this country, after all (and they’re too poor to use his verification-free campaign credit card system).

The x-factor is the situation on the ground. We know he doesn’t give a damn about winning on the battlefield – only elections. So, whatever he comes up with will be a plan to do little more than stem the US casualty rate so that he can claim what great strides have been made by the time he’s up for reelection.

Sorry, the Bush administration had seven years to get it right and failed. And try to use language other than that provided by Granpappy Cheney.

      The word is DITHERING!!!!!!!!

    • ciscoguy

At least if he is going to puss out on what he said he was going to do all along, then he should stop getting our guys killed and get them out of there. This guy would rather have the situation stagnate than hear us call him out for reneging on his campaign pledge or rile up the moonbats over another surge. Meanwhile, our troops continue to get shot.

Incompetent, indecisive and indifferent. Was this the kind of change we wanted?

The default retreat position of all Libtards. If Barry’s failing at something (which happens a lot), blame Bush. It’s all they’ve got. Are you sure it’s not the dreaded NEOCONS (aka JOOOOOOS) that are to blame? Silly Klucker.

    We have a Man-child as the Commander-in-Chief.

I don’t think he was even a Boy Scout.

Oh, but he reads speeches from a teleprompter oh so well.

    Thank you.

That’s what she tells Jay Leno.

And from the same article, where are PETA and the vegans and the food cops when you need ‘em? So they serve veal at the White House … to the dog??

It also looks like Bo ? the Obamas’ dog ? is living like a king. The first lady said the presidential pooch celebrated his first birthday earlier this month with a Rose Garden party.

Bo, a Portuguese water dog, feasted on a cake shaped like a dog house that was made out of veal.

“We had a really sweet celebration,” the first lady told Leno. “We had party hats.”

On the late night shows? A clip showing our troops under heavy fire, a commander screaming in the sat phone requesting support, then switching the scene to a beautifully manicured golf course, President Obama, lining up a putt for a birdie on the 18th. The scenes alternating back and forth. It would be hilarious if it weren?t so bloody sad for our brave solders. Our military needs help not pensive triangulation. For shame on Obama. It seems that the blood of many of his own countrymen that he is sworn to doesn’t bother his soul. Have we seen this callousness in history before?

Clear and Present Danger during the Admiral Greer’s funeral when the troops in COlombia were getting slaughtered. I fear our POTUS cares so little about those who love his country. Then again, sometimes I wonder whether this country of ours is his country.

it reminds me of Pres. Clinton’s playing golf instead of giving the word to capture Osama Bin Laden, as told by his “nuclear football” holder in the book Dereliction of Duty. This commander-in-chief is no better, perhaps worse. Worse for me, anyhow. This time, I have children in the military.

as a member of the 571st Military Police Company north of Iraq in “IED Alley”. She’s a gunner. They took casualties in last tour there. We pray a lot here. I’ll add your kids to the list. motc.

when I think about this metrosexual executive mansion, unless you’re talking about Delta Lambda Phi. The NYT article made a valiant effort, although I think they undermined their case when they described ballerina Rahm Emmanuel as “testosterone-brimming.” I think the last molecule of testosterone waved bye-bye to the Democrats about 1963.

As you may recall, W gave up playing golf once we had troops in Iraq, nearly 3 years into his presidency.

Well, Obama has tied Bush in the number of golf rounds played (24) while President, just nine months into his presidency:

The Kenyan King playing golf without his crown? That’s OK, he has his court jester by his side.

Obama the military genius clearly is commanding warfare in Afghanistan like a chess master! He is cleverly postponing his military decision to lull the Taliban into a false sense of security!

Or you could believe the man is entirely too inept and incompetent to be CIC.

Which do you truly want to believe?

  • patrickmcminn

I wonder if the famlies of the 19 men killed over the last 2 days are playing golf today?

The Afghanistan war is going to be a failure just like Viet Nam. Because you can’t run a war from the White House. They should have learned that from Viet Nam war. The General’s on site has to run the war if we are to win. If you don’t know were we have been you can’t know were we are going.
