The Proof on Romney is Still Unknown

Before rushing to judgement about Romney like the media zealots in the Florida case, about what he will or won’t do as a our nominee or even the next president, shouldn’t we give him time to prove his case in a general election? On the 1st day post Santorum, Romney is already taking BHO to task on the contrived Republican war on women and against a big government society among other issues.

As I’ve posted before, he’s not my favorite pick, and once again I won’t have a voice or meaningful vote in TX, but he will be our candiate to win back the White House. I’m willing to listen to give the guy some space to prove who he is and how he’ll return our country to the America we know and love.

I’d encourage all of the great minds on this forum to go to his website and give him suggestions on how to win like I did, specifically asking him to concentrate on constitutional values. The proof is yet to come and the outcome may surprise many of us or maybe it won’t…only time will tell for the only viable candidate we have left to give BHO a pink slip.

They are getting so obsessed and desperate to beat Obama, that they are setting us up to probably lose in November and lose badly.

They are grasping at the bait the MSM has thrown out that Romney can beat Obama, mantra.

They went into a blind panic and ran away from different candidates because the MSM launched through a song and dance about how unelectable a particular candidate was.

Who the heck cares what the MSM’s opinion of a candidate is?

Republicans are having a bad case of tunnel vision, and I fear that it will cost us the Presidency and worse may make it so the Dems keep the Senate, worst case they retake the House.

People are making the same mistakes we made in 2008, and honestly we can’t afford 4 years of a liberal Romney (would be surprised if he goes Conservative) especially after the damage Obama has done, or worse still we get 4 more years of Obama.

We are about to go over the edge, we can’t simply sit on status quo, we have to do a reverse course. I know Gingrich and Ron Paul would try to reverse course, I don’t know that about Romney.

I would rather go with a candidate that most people think can’t win like Gingrich or Paul (and I can’t stand Ron Paul), whom I know will fight to fix things. Than a “safe” candidate that we have no clue what he’ll do if he gets in, cause if Romney decides to just let the status quo continue, this country will be sunk.

I think the damage to this country is that bad.

as in unfortunately, it’s Romney unless something miraculous happens to get Paul or Newt as the nominee, of which Newt was my guy early on. The MSM is not forming my opinion believe me but reailty sets in and we should hold Romney and all politicians to the fire for accountability. I think the only people deceived were the 51% who voted for BHO! Just saying we should make him a better candidate and reserve judgement for his actions and like you said, not what lies the MSM and the current admin spews.

      • garfieldjl

I think it is entirely possible for a miracle to happen.

      • checkmate2012

you’re right and maybe sooner than it should have i.e. it was inevitable as the numbers came in. I guess Santorum did come to the same conclusion yesterday and have no idea what Newt has up his sleeve for Tampa…he’s very smart and tricky ;)

        • garfieldjl

It was why people kept jumping from one candidate to another.

I haven’t been jumping candidates at all this primary.

I’ve been considering this from consider Obama is defeated in November, who would you consider the most qualified and best able to fix this country.

While I liked Herman Cain, and respect Rick Perry, I considered Newt Gingrich the best person for the job.

I considered the who can beat Obama song and dance to be irrelevant. With all due respect Glenn Beck would actually have a decent chance of beating Obama.

I consider a brokered convention to be less risky than us giving up and letting Romney be the nominee, partially because his past record would indicate that he would continue the status quo, and enough damage has been done already by Obama, so that we can’t handle 4 years of the status quo. If Romney ends up winning and does a reverse course, great I’d be happy to admit that I misjudged the man, I actually pray I’m wrong about Romney.

However I would rather have the less favorable odds with a candidate I know will fight tooth and nails to fix things if he wins. Then a candidate I don’t even know if he’ll try to fix things.

I’m just sad people got so focused on Obama, that they didn’t stop and look at the whole picture and got led into picking the candidate most likely to lose to Obama.

          • Kyle-MI

but judging from your responses, I can see that you have completely misread it. (Or maybe I have.) The way I read it, it says to give Romney a chance and don’t jump to conclusions about him. You have certainly jumped to a huge conclusion with the notion that Romney is “…the candidate most likely to lose to Obama.”

I think it is time to step back, stop talking for a while, take a deep breath, and listen to Romney’s pitch with an open mind.

Kyle, checkmate, and I can disagree and have an intelligent conversation like grown adults. We don’t need your juvenile attempts to annoy me with the juvenile insults.

Either enter the conversation and be respectful to all parties or be courteous to the people having the conversation and stay out of it.

          • garfieldjl

            Knock it off.

If you don’t share my opinions fine, however I haven’t gone out of my way to accuse you of being trolls. There are a lot of things I could and would probably be justified in calling the two of you.

Remember since you both are apparently Romney supporters, your job is to convince Conservatives like me that Romney is worth supporting. Bullying me and Conservatives like me, is more apt to get us to stay home or worse yet vote for Obama.

So if you can’t come up with something positive about Romney, and are instead having to attack me, then that reflects rather poorly on the candidate you have said you now support.

So since I’m starting to get annoyed with the two of you, I’m going to suggest you stop behaving like a pair of trolls and/or cyber bullies. It doesn’t reflect well on you, Red State, your candidate, the Republican Party, etc.

            ingredients:
one or two, or even three slices of bread, anykind, except pumpernicle.
1 jar peanut butter, smooth or crunchy.
Take one slice of bread, and apply peanut butter evenly on one side.
Either fold the bread in half, or add another slice.
If you want, take a third slice of bread, and apply an even layer of peanut butter on that, and add to the original two slices.
            enjoy.
I hear that adding a slice of bread with an even layer of jelly or jam,
or even marmalade makes it even better.

I picked something easy yo might be able to handle. ;)

that the proof is yet to come and to keep an open mind because reality is what it is, wishful thinking or not. Rushing to judgement on an open case helps no one.

          • garfieldjl

Difference is, I consider my voice to have weight, and I’m not going to throw in the towel.

Conventional wisdom is Romney is the nominee, well folks if your state hasn’t had its primary yet and you can’t accept Romney as the nominee, then make it your mission to get out to vote in the primary and vote for either Newt or Paul (would prefer people vote Newt but if you like Paul, fine by me).

If Romney ends up being the nominee, at least you can say you fought to get someone other than Romney to be the nominee, who knows the Romney people may be so full of themselves now they might not show up at the primaries.

While I don’t agree entirely with the person in this diary I understand the sentiments he’s expressing even if I don’t entirely agree with them.

Conventional wisdom is Romney will be the nominee, okay let’s make it a mission to prove Conventional Wisdom wrong. Who knows it may force Romney to have to pick a conservative VP at the very least. Best case, we could end up with someone other than Romney.

      • checkmate2012

for the party and our chance of winning and the left would like nothing more. We would be a laughing stock as the party of disarray and the ABO’s can’t come together for their own convention.

What a MSM heyday party they would have and although it wouldn’t affect the true conservatives, it would greatly effect the opinion of the masses. I’ll have to go with, just say no to a brokered convention, at all costs- miracle Newt or not.

        • garfieldjl

You see, I suspect the mainstream media may in fact start throwing trash on Romney within the next few days because everyone thinks he is the nominee.

I am hoping the media will make that tactical error, because we still have time to switch candidates and completely derail Obama’s re-election campaign.

Remember how NY Times hit McCain with the phony affair (probably cause they couldn’t find anything they could actually throw at McCain that was legit), only for it to backfire because the woman sued NY Times for defamation of charecter.

I suspect there is some stuff the MSM has on Romney, which is why they were shilling for him. My hope is they release it prematurely while we still have time to switch nominees, I imagine that’s why Gingrich hasn’t dropped out, he’s expecting the MSM to jump the gun like they did in 2008.

          • checkmate2012

you seem to have a persistant case of denial. They’ve been trashing Romney and ABO, so we’ll chat when you’ve faced reality that the game is over and now we have to win- with Romney vs. Obama. I wish you good luck with your reasoning and tactics,

          • checkmate2012

and I’m not trying to be mean or disrespectful in anyway with my reality to wonderland comment. It just ain’t going to happen and I am sticking my statement that a brokered convention would be a disaster, for our party and chances of winning.

          • garfieldjl

That’s all, and we really don’t have much to lose by continuing to support someone other than Romney.

Another thing I think you’ve underestimated, the MSM’s tendency for bias impatience, and utter stupidity.

Believe it or not I think you have made a well reasoned argument, checkmate, however I simply disagree with the conclusion you reached.

If Romney ends up hitting the magic number, fine. Until that happens since Gingrich is still in this, I’m going to continue to support the candidate I think is the best man for the job. Really isn’t much to lose in doing so.

          • checkmate2012

if you still have a chance to vote. MSM is more blantantly biased than I can ever recall in my lifetime and so have no dillusions…like I said, they’ve been trashing ABO since before 2008 and will continue to do so. Had they done their job, we might have had a different outcome last go round. MSM = utter stupidity.

          • garfieldjl

I not only expect the MSM and their blatent stupidity, I’m counting on it.

If it wasn’t for the Treyvon Martin story, the media probably would already have started releasing whatever dirt they have on Romney.

I’m hoping that they release what they have now, so we have a chance to decide whether or not this is all that damaging to Romney, or we can decide to suddenly switch nominees.

If the MSM has something on Romney, I want them to spill it now, rather us get hit with a series of October surprises that end up getting Obama re-elected.

I want Obama out of office.

            1 1/2 cups water.

In a small pot, bring water to a boil.
            Add contents of package.
Bring water to a boil again, then turn off heat and cover.
            Let stand for 5 minutes.

Back when McCain about had the primary wrapped up in 2008, the NY Times did a hit piece claiming he had an affair with a lobbyist. However this backfired, particularly when the woman sued the NY Times for defamation of charecter.

I am expecting they are going to be doing some hit pieces on Romney in the near future because it looks like he has the nomination wrapped up (which I don’t believe Romney does have the nomination wrapped up). If they stay true to how they behaved last election, we will see it happen.
