RS

MEMBER DIARY

And divided we fall…

It’s been amazing to watch the complete and utter chaos displayed on RS over which candidate deserves the Republican nomination and eventual vote in the general and by which group of voters gains and earns his respect. It’s all over the map in the form of different groups be it evangelicals, atheists, agnostics, Christians of different denominations, etc. and all profess that their viewpoint is better than another.

The one thing all parties agree to purport is that they’re conservative in their values. Debate is a great tool to learn from each other and share opinions, theories, and visions and then use that information to formulate one’s own viewpoint. Yet even when some want questions answered in that quest for knowledge or to be convinced of a proposition, it isn’t always forthcoming without criticism.

I guess we really are more of a divided country than I thought when conservatives are having such a hard time coming together to eliminate the most destructive presence in our lives, that of Obama, that has divided this country so viscerally. Is my observation naive as a newcomer to RS or is this the norm?

United we stand and divided we fall….at least it’s reassuring to know that everyone here will unite for the Republican in the General election.

If  I get banned for opining my observations, thank you all for letting me contribute the last couple of months. A sincere Godspeed to all at RedState and God Bless America!

I recommend your diary entry, because it’s well meaning.

Conservatives will decide what’s best for them on their own terms.

Tolerance for disagreement is the key to making it through the next 6.5 months.

Most will eventually end up in the same place.

relatively free and relatively honest actors.

There will always be disagreement between people – at times rancorous – because we’re not all the same … but would it be over such major topics, questions worthy of discussion, if “the fix were in” ?

and I love a lively debate else I wouldn’t have signed up for RS. Just see many disrespectful and less than courteous jabs at one another on the same topic over and over and over….until Tampa seems nothing will be settled & then I can’t wait to see the comments.

There will be a truce of sorts between Tampa and Thanksgiving.

    That’s it.

Obama has been an extremely divisive and destructive President. There is probably several factions in play because of this.

    1. People that want the candidate that is most electable and principles are secondary.

    2. People that are principles first and electability is secondary.

    3. Obama hacks that are coming in to stir everything up.

I would fall into the second category, and don’t think the primary is over. There are other people that think it is over. I tend to get into verbal sparring matches because of it. Since I’m relatively new here compared to some other people, some people have me confused with the 3rd group.

In reality I think group 3 has been posing as pro-Romney and anti-Romney people, because we are all in an online environment it is probably hard for people to tell who is who.

    That’s factor one.

Second factor is how divisive the primary has been thus far. This is the absolute dirtiest primary I’ve seen in my lifetime, in either party at the Presidential level, so a lot of people are extremely angry.

There are other factors in play, I’d imagine, but I’m guessing this is why everyone is on a short fuse.

on many things but sparring with you is enjoyable since we keep it respectful and on point w/o name calling. Hope I don’t get banned but if I do, it was fun debating with you! Thanks for the great response.

…those who claim to be Romney supporters but bash Evangelicals and conservatives in general. Those individuals are the trolls. I spotted a couple earlier, but haven’t been around here enough to hunt troll, so I just kept my mouth shut.
