My first economics teacher introduced me to Friedman & the monetarist school of thought back when I was in HS…

Better formal education in economics for all would make it a little harder to be a liberal, and much harder to be a screaming radical (#OWS or Paulbot – matters little)…

Thanks so much for your comments. I love Mark Levin…and Rush Limbaugh. I have been told they are “depressing” but I don’t look at them that way…I find them refreshing and encouraging in a world where truth and honesty are hard to find. Many use Mark’s staunch support of some of Romney’s competitors as an excuse to go third party or not vote. I hope listening to Mark’s wisdom can convince them of the importance of avoiding that folly at all costs.

My husband has a degree in economics. When he started as a small business owner 30 years ago, the learning he had received combined with on the job experience made him successful (until recent events made most small businesses falter). Most people in this country know little about economics but they’d do well for themselves to adhere to the teachings of Milt Friedman who agrees with your premise of keeping the Fed. I really enjoyed reading your post. Just an all around great read. I think Mark Levin said something along the lines of “I’d vote for a can of orange juice over President Obama”. I by far am not a Romney fan, but given the alternative… More constitutional conservatives in the Senate and House is imperative along with the Presidency to reverse course.

As for Rand Paul, I’m sorry but his family has a history of attacking our economy’s most critical institution – the Federal Reserve – and thus we can NEVER let a Paul be President.

Senator is too much as it is….

The FED must be protected (and low-to-moderate inflation must be maintained), period, no exceptions. Our economy & quality of life depend on it…

My mother who passed away in 2001 is shown as still being registered in a Democrat-leaning county in SOUTHERN Illinois. I plan to check in to this and get her name purged if that is indeed the case. We should ALL check our names against this if we have ever had more than one address and make sure we aren’t still unknowingly registered somewhere else. Of course, this is only a starting point since it will require following up with state or local election authorities.

First of all – FANTASTIC article. Besides “ditto” about the only thing I might add is that probably the most important question that a Republican candidate needs to answer during the primary is whether or not he/she would support a change of leadership within the REPUBLICAN party. Unless and until we break through the establishment leadership juggernaut, NOTHING will really change in DC.

Indiana recently did it by electing Mourdock over Lugar in that state’s Repiblican primary. On August 7 we will have the same opportunity in Missouri to choose John Brunner or Sarah Steelman over career DC politician Representative Todd Akin in our Republican Senate primary:

I would encourage conservatives in every state to ask the question of where your federal candidates stand on this issue. If we change Congress from the ground up, we need to ensure that the leadership and power structure changes as well, otherwise we will have accomplished nothing. WE can’t do that unless one of the leaders resides in our district or state, only our newly elected Congressman or Senator can when the votes are cast at the start of each session.

Yes, generally know where that is…born and raised here in good ole’ Chi-town (suburbs). South side girl…BUT…there are MANY conservatives here and we are fighting the good fight. Can’t beat the Chicago machine, but we are making inroads…see DefendtheVote.com….Sharon Meroni is a one woman dynamo who now has some big backing to fight voter fraud here. Our last Democrat governor won with only 2 counties–one small one and Cook–Chicago Machine territory…my conservative dad died 3 years ago but is probably voting for Obama in November….

Thanks for your comment. Third party votes are still a danger and actually promoted by those who are powerful in politics. If you follow Wayne Allyn Root–LNC member and powerful businessman–he’s planning on voting for Johnson. And his followers will fall in line. There are others who are still stuck on Newt and will try to “prove” something by voting for him. Doubt it will do any good but while Root writes on a landslide for an Obama fail, he’s fighting against it by voting for Johnson. To me, hat logic is just as crazy as liberal logic.

A third party at this time would be a disaster and a win for O. I’m with you in that change takes time and one term for even a Reaganite can’t turn this ship around; it will take several cycles but the voters don’t think long term. You’re right in that if not the Prez, the makeup of the Congress will have a greater long-term effect.

I will admit I’m very happy with Romney so far and it is finally time for a businessman or woman, to take office to TRY to right the fiscal wrongs of our nation that no politician has been willing to do.
