The debt ceiling plans are all imperfect and contraversial. I have a simple solution. Retun to 2006 spending levels plus 3% inflation. This is simple, take spending EVERY account and reset them to 2006 levels, plus a 3% increase per year. Every line item of funding for every agency. Including for congress, and including federal pay. In 1992 Clinton’s theme was “it’s the economy, stupid.” Well, in this debt ceiling debate, for the GOP, we need to realize that it call comes down to 2012. Obama is NOT going to sign an extension of the Bush tax cuts during his second term. Only with a new president in 2012 will that happen.
