We must never pass this way again

Tomorrow will be an historic day is our effort to save our nation, our shining light on its hill, from having its light extinguished and the world cast into a millennium of darkness.

As many have pointed out, we haven’t won anything yet, and we must be energetic in the next day to turn our current advantage in this battle into victory.

Recognizing that this is just the first step in what will be a lengthy and hard fought struggle against forces that have been working for over a hundred years to promote a hellish future for the world that is diametrically opposed to the principles behind the rule of law and other bedrock principles that affirm and defend our liberty.

Time for me to join other determined citizens to muster our forces to bring out the vote and to ensure the best we can that this vote be not marred by fraud and betrayal by high officials.

As a reminder to the future we seek to avert, let me reprint the poem below by Rudyard Kipling written in the aftermath of World War I that had snuffed out the lives of so many sons, including his own son.

A testimony of the consequences when people betray their marriage to truth and let themselves be lured away to commit adultery again with the lies that falsely promote an easier way.

The path that tragically our current leaders and so many fellow citizen seem determined to take, once more ignoring the lessons of history and the terrible abyss just ahead that is opening its jaws for our nation and indeed the whole world.

Let us, then, resolve that our nation and this world not pass this way again

The Gods of the Copybook Headings

————————————————–

As I pass through my incarnations in every age and race,
I make my proper prostrations to the Gods of the Market Place.
Peering through reverent fingers I watch them flourish and fall,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings, I notice, outlast them all.

We were living in trees when they met us. They showed us each in turn
That Water would certainly wet us, as Fire would certainly burn:
But we found them lacking in Uplift, Vision and Breadth of Mind,
So we left them to teach the Gorillas while we followed the March of Mankind.

We moved as the Spirit listed. They never altered their pace,
Being neither cloud nor wind-borne like the Gods of the Market Place,
But they always caught up with our progress, and presently word would come
That a tribe had been wiped off its icefield, or the lights had gone out in Rome.

With the Hopes that our World is built on they were utterly out of touch,
They denied that the Moon was Stilton; they denied she was even Dutch;
They denied that Wishes were Horses; they denied that a Pig had Wings;
So we worshipped the Gods of the Market Who promised these beautiful things.

When the Cambrian measures were forming, They promised perpetual peace.
They swore, if we gave them our weapons, that the wars of the tribes would cease.
But when we disarmed They sold us and delivered us bound to our foe,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “Stick to the Devil you know.”

On the first Feminian Sandstones we were promised the Fuller Life
(Which started by loving our neighbour and ended by loving his wife)
Till our women had no more children and the men lost reason and faith,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “The Wages of Sin is Death.”

In the Carboniferous Epoch we were promised abundance for all,
By robbing selected Peter to pay for collective Paul;
But, though we had plenty of money, there was nothing our money could buy,
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings said: “If you don’t work you die.”

Then the Gods of the Market tumbled, and their smooth-tongued wizards withdrew
And the hearts of the meanest were humbled and began to believe it was true
That All is not Gold that Glitters, and Two and Two make Four
And the Gods of the Copybook Headings limped up to explain it once more.

As it will be in the future, it was at the birth of Man
There are only four things certain since Social Progress began.
That the Dog returns to his Vomit and the Sow returns to her Mire,
And the burnt Fool’s bandaged finger goes wabbling back to the Fire;

And that after this is accomplished, and the brave new world begins
When all men are paid for existing and no man must pay for his sins,
As surely as Water will wet us, as surely as Fire will burn,
The Gods of the Copybook Headings with terror and slaughter return!

in politics. Liberals will always be there and they are going to win elections. The important thing is that we must win more elections than they do and prevent them from doing terrible damage when they are in power or out of power.

When and where leftists are hard at work eating away at the foundations of society they must be rousted out of their hidey holes and sent packing to someplace like Venezuela that will treat them like the cockroaches they are.

There is “No” Never Again in politics.

  • realisticconservative

However a quick look at history shows that liberals and leftists have been always there. The important thing is to make sure that we win more elections than they do and reduce their damage to our country.

…and I did point you to the house rules on the Ace’s O’Donnell diary.

They understand the idea of permanent change even if they don’t really mean for it to be permanent.
Instead they introduce programs that once enacted are difficult if not impossible to remove, which when implemented are in themselves unsustainable and as a result require more change later on.
Social Security, Medicare, Welfare, Federal Reserve, stimulus, Drug War, etc. All are meant to fail and thereby further the revolution.

    Marx
Of course, in the beginning, this cannot be effected except by means of despotic inroads on the rights of property, and on the conditions of bourgeois production; by means of measures, therefore, which appear economically insufficient and untenable, but which, in the course of the movement, outstrip themselves, necessitate further inroads upon the old social order, and are unavoidable as a means of entirely revolutionizing the mode of production.

If we only cut a little spending, cut a little on taxes, roll back ObamaCare halfway or all the way, we will have no lasting effect.
We need to be asking ourselves what can we do that will outlast the next three democrat majorities or we are only delaying the inevitable Utopian fantasy that will be brought about by the final destruction of the individual man and his liberties.

No more running DEFENSE. No more FALLBACK positions. No more FEAR of being labeled.

Don’t overreach you say? The left overreached and now they die.

This nation was not founded by the hesitant of heart; the hedgers, the abstainers, the moral equivocators. It was founded by men of courage who understood “once more into the breach” meant go forth and likely die and still they went.

“The left overreached and now they die,” you say? But what they accomplished ObamaCare, Financial Reform, EPA regs, NEA grants, whatever they have done I fail to remember or we simply did not see, WILL NOT DIE. Social Security has not died, Medicare and the Great Society are not dead.

The left understands better than do we, that somethings are worth dying for and however skewed their worldview THEY ARE WILLING TO DIE FOR IT.

What are we going to do to make a difference our great-grandchildren will know? Will they honor the sacrifice we made to achieve it?

Reagan’s conservative wave hit DC ..and receded.
Likewise, the Contract with America hit DC .. and receded.

Can’t recede (or retreat) again. We have to hold until relieved by the next generation of conservatives.

Those things are few, but they are also embedded in the Constitution, and the Bible. They are eternal truths, not infernal wishes.

With this massive migration of Independents, what percentage will recognize they are on the right side of the fence, and decide to settle down for good? There is a number, I’ve no idea what it would be, but there must be a number that if achieved, would mean Obama has ended his own political movement, perhaps forever.

      • acat

We’re going to have to be just as active in 2012 as we are today… and as we were not in 2006 and 2008.

The independents will keep hopping the fence as long as they don’t understand why it’s there…

But, my question remains: just how much damage to Obama’s own cause has he managed to do, and in such a brief period of time? What if a large percentage of those fence-hoppers have been effectively scared straight?

          • acat

literally don’t decide until they get to the voting booth. They don’t become “scared straight”… they’re perma-waffles.

Some will be scared straight… but not necessarily all. Don’t count on *any* being permanently affected.

I found Erick’s book to be a very helpful tool for educating folks just becoming politically aware. Yes, we have all read books that focus on one particular aspect of government or Conservative principles. But RedState Uprising is different.
If your Independent or Democrat friend receives a copy from you, they will be skeptical at first. However, due to the way the book is presented, they will likely keep reading.
The two best things this book does is to evenhandedly assign blame to both major political parties where blame is due and to also give succinct descriptions of the outrages perpetrated by the Federal government and courts over the last 150 or so years. Each topic is worthy of a book of its own (and many are), but to someone just now beginning to pay attention, the recitation is quite compelling.
Consider using RedState Uprising as one of your educational and recruitment tools.
Like it or not, you need to adopt a Democrat, Moderate or other fence sitter and teach them why they need to become a Conservative. This book can help.
(All my personal opinion. I am not a paid or otherwise shill for the book)

In the current case, “This Way” is a long, narrow, deep gorge (The Valley of the Shadow of Death?) and while I agree we must never pass this way again, we’re going to be in it for the rest of our lives. It will be another generation who emerge on the other side.
