The spectre of political nihilism raises its head

Expanding on an comment of mine earlier today… Viewing the brinkmanship going on in Washington reminds me of this strictly apocryphal tale that I recall hearing years ago. When once asked if he feared a nuclear war, a Soviet offical responded no. But, the questioner continued, a full-scale nuclear war between the U.S. and the USSR will leave both nations totally devasted, the cities in | Read More »

    Screwtape’s accolytes attack Sarah Palin

I would aver that the nomination of Sarah Palin has resounded to the depths of hell itself – at least in terms of the depth and intensity of hatred that she has evoked. Though Screwtape had a different woman in mind, the spirit in his letter below is identical to what we have seen unleased in these past couple of weeks against Gov. Palin – | Read More »

Make-or-break time for the Troopergate controversy?

Putting aside tabloid fluff and other deranged personal attacks (H/T) that will soon find themselves exiled to the wilderness, there still remains the only potential derail to Palin, as it deals with a matter of public behavior: the legislative star chamber investigation into the Trooper firings, a matter which was known before Palin was chosen. Looks like things may be coming to a boil on | Read More »

Charlie Gibson interviews our Presidential and VP candidates seriatim [Humor]

…challenging, in order, Barack Obama (Lancelot), John McCain (Sir Robin), Joe Biden (Galahad), Sarah Palin (Arthur) What would we do without Monty Python to put everything into proper perspective?

Just another minor but telling example of deliberate media bias

Glanced over at CNN, and their lead story on their home page, complete with photo of Barack Obama, was as follows: Obama: Being American is blessing, responsibility America became a great country because of its people, Sen. Barack Obama said Thursday night at a Time-sponsored forum on national service. “It is a great blessing that we’ve received,” he said. “It is also a responsibility … | Read More »

“Drop that microphone and back away slowly”

Yes, I agree that Obama’s “lipstick on a pig” line was a preplanned “wink-wink” coded reference to Gov. Palin’s comment at the RNC, as evidenced by the crowd’s response. However, now that the charge has been leveled and gained blog and media attention, what damage to Obama is going to ensue has been done. It’s past time to move on. The McCain campaign is going | Read More »

Sarah Palin’s character distilled into a moment of time

On the day McCain announced her selection as his running mate, Palin thanked Clinton and Ferraro for blazing her trail. A day later, Ferraro noted her shock at Palin’s comment. You see, none of her peers, no one, had ever publicly thanked her in the 24 years since her historic run for the White House. When I read these sentences, I was just stunned, almost | Read More »

Hire this pro-life woman for Sarah Palin’s campaign staff

From the Forth Worth Star-Telegram comes this dramatic tale: Facing shotgun barrel, couple fought for their lives When two men smashed through the door of their house and one of them, weighing 300 pounds, thrust a Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun in her face, 34-year old Kellie Hoehn’s primal thought was that she wasn’t going to let them get to her children. Ignoring the gunman’s murderous | Read More »

    Here I take my stand

Lest anyone, humor-challenged or other, not understand where I was coming from in my earlier post here at RedState: I support 100% the nomination of Governor Sarah Palin for Vice President and stand in sympathy and support of the Palin family during this challenging time that they face with their daughter Bristol. I pronounce anathema on the subhuman slime who first spread baseless and abhorrent | Read More »

Surely this will sink Palin’s nomination

Building upon this comment by fellow RedStater Virgil, I had this vision of the next AP story on Sarah Palin: [Headline] Bedroom Secrets of the Palin family exposed [Text] A criminal indictment is expected to soon be handed down against Gov. Sarah Palin and her husband, following dispatch of a SWAT team that swooped down on her house and discovered a tag missing from the | Read More »

Political Conventions and Acts of God

Now that we’re past the speculation surrounding the choice of Vice President as well as the spectacle of the Democratic Party’s exposing their organs of intimacy to the American people as the last act in their ongoing hawking of their carnal services, it’s time to realize that due to conditions beyond human control, the Presidential campaign script could be about to undergo an unprecedented change. | Read More »

Palin candidacy puts the screws to Hillary

First, hearty congratulations to the next Vice President of the United States. This bold step by John McCain promises to make this election a barn-burner of a contest. One of the side effects of this decision, which I’m sure team Hillary was not anticipating, is to put Hillary into a tight spot regarding her maneuverings to become President. On the one hand, working wholeheartedly to | Read More »

A dissenting view on the Biden selection

I’ve been encountering much glee at Redstate over the choice of Joe Biden as Obama’s running mate, but I cannot join in that glee. While not a spectacular pick (if indeed Obama has such a pick available), Biden is a solid defensive pick. And given the overall Democratic tide this year, defense is a rational tactic at this time.
