We get it that those in the entertainment industry are overwhelmingly left-wing, and usually vote Democrat, but what is it about Obama that engenders such fawning worship from the big bucks Hollywood film crowd?

Perhaps it is simply that Obama’s life is just as much a fantasy as their own movies. After all, the official version of “The Life and Times of Barak Obama” is turning out to be a morass of falsehoods, missing information, and even outright lies, many out of Obama’s own mouth.

One of the more famous examples is Obama’s claim that he was “conceived as a direct result” of the racial conflict in Selma, Alabama. Again, in his own words:

“They looked at each other and they decided, ‘We know that in the world, as it has been, it might not be possible for us to get together and have a child, but something is stirring across the country because of what happened in Selma, Ala., because some folks are willing to march across the bridge.’ And so they got together and Barack Obama Jr. was born. So don’t tell me I don’t have a claim on Selma, Ala.!”

Only one problem – Barak Hussein Obama was born in 1961, a full FOUR YEARS before the Selma civil rights marches. So, unless his parents were secretly in possession of a time machine, he lied. Naturally, the obsequious press refuses to confront him on this, or any other of his less than accurate statements. Heck, they didn’t even call him on his “57 states” comment, so why would we be surprised.

Then there are the oft-repeated statements by Obama, claiming that he was “raised by a single mom”  – yet his mother, Stanley Ann Dunham, was married twice, in one case to a man with whom she moved to Indonesia (with young Barak). Eventually, Obama was handed over to his grandmother, who, along with HER HUSBAND, raised the future president from the age of 10. Again, he was clearly NOT “raised by a single mother” (or even a “single grandmother” for that matter).

But some of the most intriguing elements of the “Fairy Tale of Barak Obama” are what we don’t know. For instance, we know exactly the classes taken and the grades received by George Bush, Bill Clinton, and even John Kerry (Al Gore was a drop-out, so no one really cares). But where are the transcripts of the “smartest man ever to occupy the Oval Office” or even his grade point average?

Even more intriguing, the press seems to have no trouble finding numerous classmates of Mitt Romney from his high school days, but are apparently unable to find ANY of  Obama’s friends from college (let alone high school or elementary school). Think about that. If you or I went to grammar school, let alone college, with someone who became president, we’d be telling everyone we know. We’d have it on Facebook. We’d be bragging about having “gone to school with the president” – even if we didn’t agree with him politically.

But not Barak Obama. It’s as if his entire life is shrouded in myth, mystery, and fables. Even now, after almost four years in office, and with a major election approaching, we still know almost nothing about how a young child in Hawaii wound up at Harvard, let alone what he actually “achieved” there. And what we thought we knew is turning out to be a fabricated fantasy or outright propaganda. In other words, just like a Hollywood movie.

So it should come as no surprise that those who make millions for pretending to be someone they are not, should feel a certain kinship with a politician whose life is as big a fantasy as their latest movie blockbuster. The only difference is that when Obama won his “Oscar” for “best performance by an actor in the 2008 election” – we all paid the price.

As the 2012 election approaches, we can only hope that enough of us know the difference between a Hollywood movie and real life.

In our entertainment-obsessed culture, I am not optimistic.
