MEMBER DIARY

Shrug?

I think I might.

Like many of you here, I’ve read Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged.”  Hell, I was a member of an “Objectivist Society.”

Fight now?  Spend time away from my precious offspring?  They aren’t “my” children, they are God’s.  Why should I not spend every waking moment with them, instructing them in God’s ways, instead of in Republican Party meetings?  And spending hour on end online chattering away with the “conservative” multitudes who type and type and type to no productive end?

Yes, I think I might now shrug.  And say good bye here.

What say you?

Thank you.

And we don’t always see the effect our words have on others, or the domino effect that it can lead to when we choose our words carefully and thoughtfully. Sometimes the soul we reach never comments or recommends us, they just read the words and are changed.

there is strength in community. And knowledge is power! I learn a lot from many of the writers here on RS and I’d like to think that sometimes I contribute to their lives too, even if it’s just a word of encouragement or a smile.

Shrug if you must…we’ll be here if you want to come back.

It is like the ripple effect. The stone skipped in the stream, creating beautiful ripples all moving outward from the center. The words shared here at Redstate have significant power. I told our very own Mailloux, that his writings helped me to not only want to go to church again, but that I actually have done so.

I have always tried to teach my family that you never know when a word or a smile can make a difference in another person’s life. It may not bear fruit right away, but the impact is there. Sometimes a critical impact.

Coldwarrior, these have been trying months for all of us. Each day seems to bring more news that causes pain to our American spirit. Redstate has helped me and mine. Give it a rest, but know we’d like to see you back.

The GOP shrugged, and we got John McCain. The majority of eligible voters in America shrugged, and we got Barack Obama.

As individuals, we can only do so much. United in our beliefs, we can accomplish much. Removing one voice from RedState doesn’t seem like much. Removing one neuron from the brain would likewise seem trivial as well. But that neuron is connected to countless other neurons as part of a complex network, and removing that neuron would cause a disfunction in the operation of the brain. Same here. The brain can readjust its pathways when damaged. Likewise, RedState would adjust to your absence, but it would not be the same, nor would it be as strong.

By all means, give God’s children the love, care and attention they deserve. And shrug if you must, but American cannot survive much more shrugging!
