Tonight at 8 pm Eastern, Americans for Prosperity will be hosting a nationwide conference call about the status of the congressional hijacking of our individual rights with respect to our own health care.
National Health Care Tele Town Hall Tonight
Join us TONIGHT for a national tele town hall with Rep. John Shadegg (AZ) to discuss the Washington take over of health care and how we can stop it. Call 888-886-6603 at 8pm ET and enter the extension 13485. I hope you all can make it for this important call.
I was on the last call and heard two people implore Rep. Shadegg to tell them what they could DO to make an impact on the Senate and House members. I wrote about it here at Redstate. What did he tell them? He told them to “make phone calls, send e-mails, talk to your neighbors.” There was no, “If you really, really want to send a shock wave through the political world, in addition to making the phone calls and sending the e-mails, all 10,000 of you conservatives on this call, tomorrow, get in touch with your local GOP organization and tell them you want to become a PC and then do it.” I commented at that time here: http://www.redstate.com/toni100/2009/09/22/democrat-sham-healthcare-%E2%80%98shell%E2%80%99-bill-to-be-rushed/
Why won’t he implore conservatives to come into the Party as voting members of it? Because he FEARS conservatives coming into the Party and HIJACKING it from the moderates who are trying to control it. He knows that in Maricopa County and his congressional district only one-third of the PC slots were filled on election day 2008 and that they were split about 50-50 between conservatives and moderates. He knows that if the two-thirds of the slots that are vacant are filled with real conservatives he may lose in the 2010 Republican primary election for his seat. That 50-50 split could become a 5 to 1 split in favor of real conservatives. And he knows that nationwide that if 50 per cent of the PC slots that are vacant are filled up with conservatives, the 50-50 split between moderates and conservatives that exists now, and is reflected in our “leadership” in the Party, and the RINO candidates that win many of the primary elections, could change to a 75 to 25 split in favor of conservatives over moderates.
Will he be asked the “what can we DO” question tonight? What will his answer be? Inquiring conservatives want to know.
Call 888-886-6603 at 8pm ET and enter the extension 13485.

Hey Cold Warrior. Been out of the state for a while but I always thought
eburke Wednesday, October 14th at 7:21PM EDT (link)that John was one of the genuine good guys. As too much time on the Washington cocktail circuit started to ‘enlighten’ him (ala Anthony Kennedy)?

Eburke, I thought so, too. Even had his bumper sticker on my car and donated in 2008.
ColdWarrior Wednesday, October 14th at 7:36PM EDT (link)But then I got to learn more about him.
And the more I learned, the less I liked.
Can you imagine a “conservative” Republican actually encouraging conservative Republicans to NOT get involved at the grassroots level as precinct committeemen? I wrote about it at the time here back on May 4 (you’ll have to scroll down for me comments):
http://www.redstate.com/martin_a_knight/2009/05/05/the-committeeman-project/
Rep. John Shadegg actually told the Republican Jewish Coalition in Scottsdale to NOT join either the Maricopa County GOP or the AZ GOP. I’m not making this up. He admitted it to me on the phone. Read about it here:
http://www.gopusa.com/arizona/news/shadegg_rjc_0904131.shtml
And guess what? Lisa James, Shadegg’s new chief of staff, was McCain’s AZ campaign director, if I’m not mistaken. She has twice run against Randy Pullen for the AZ chairmanship. Lost by FOUR votes two years ago. Lost by about twenty this year.
The good news is that at my Legislative District meeting last night our Chairman had 50 PC appointment certificates to hand out to new PCs and most of the them were conservative and many of them were young.
Thanks.

Shadegg: This is what to "do": "Talk to your hairdresser."
ColdWarrior Wednesday, October 14th at 9:17PM EDT (link)I’m not making this up.
Despite beginning the call by explaining that our very freedom was at stake if the Dem’s health care bill passes, John Shadegg could not find it within him to tell these conservatives to come into the Party as precinct committeemen — a Party that had 50 per cent of its PC slots VACANT in the 2008 election cycle.
Instead, Rep. Shadegg. told the over 10,000 conservatives on the AFP call they should talk to their friends and neighbors and hairdressers and golf partners and the people they play bridge with and their brother and sisters and their checkout ladies about how bad the Dems’ bill is. Then, if it gets close to passage, we should all call our Senators and Representatives.
That’s it. That’s his plan.
One caller wanted to know if Obama was trying to destroy the country. Shadegg thinks Obama just thinks capitalism is bad and that socialism and communism are better than capitalism. He thinks Obama thinks in terms of what’s best for the collective rather than what’s best for the individual. He doesn’t think Obama has bad intentions.
AFP conducted an online poll during the call of the callers. Of those who responded, 50 per cent had called the DC office of their Representative, 16 per cent had called their Representative’s district office, 21 per cent had been to a Tea Party or rally or town hall meeting, 3 per cent had faxed their Representative and 9 per cent had e-mailed their Representative.
These people took the time to spend an hour on the phone with Rep. Shadegg. These people obviously want to “do something” that will have an effect. Yet for some reason Rep. Shadegg would not tell them about the most effective thing they could do.
Why not?
I think I know the answer.
Thank you.
