Shephard Smith just played the clip of Assange telling Judge Napolitano he contacted “the White House” and offered the White House an opportunity to provide WikiLeaks with criteria for reviewing the documents to ensure no lives would be put in danger by the release. He added WikiLeaks received no response from the White House.

Shep Smith then brought on a Fox reporter who, after Napolitano’s interview, contacted Assange to follow-up. The reporter asked Assange directly how WikiLeaks contacted the White House. All WikiLeaks would say was that they contacted the White House through . . . the New York Times.

The reporter said WikiLeak’s clarrfication, that their offer to the White House was made through the New York Times, was consistent with some remarks Robert Gibbs made earlier that the White House was in contact with the New York Times about the release of the documents before WikiLeaks published them.

Eric Holder needs to begin his investigation of the leak at the Times and the White House.

The White House has no obligation to ask anything to be redacted, or even to admit the information is true. The names of informants is one of several things that are classified by statute. It is a serious crime to expose intelligence sources, and any White House non-response to such second-hand questions (assuming Assange is telling the truth) is irrelevant. Wikileaks personnel can still be extradited or rendered to the US, and prosecuted for exposing informants — and they should be prosecuted. Exposing informants is unforgivable. If Obama was serious about protecting sources he would have the CIA capture Assange and other Wikileaks officers, and return them to the US for trial.

If The Great Obama wants a real distraction from his policy failures, he will wag the dog. A little nuclear war with Iran and North Korea will eliminate all other concerns, and might even allow Barack The Magnificent to cancel the election on emergency grounds.

The only thing they care about is ending it. Since they can’t do that, they don’t care about details. They don’t care that people are dying. Obama only cares when he can teleprompt emotion, and pose for a photo op.

And most likely, whoever took the call from the NYT heard they were Bush era docs, and that made them all good.

Shame of a Nation: Make-Believe Media Ignores Wikileaks’ White House Dialogue

Note: After JournoList, and years of experiencing the obvious bias of the leftist press masquerading as trustworthy reports, I just can’t call “the Media” anything so dignified as mainstream anymore. So, I’m going with a new term to refer to the cabal of leftist press operatives who daily coordinate their liberal talking points: the “Make-Believe Media.”

I can’t decide which is worse: the Administration’s appalling apathy toward national security affecting American lives, or the Make-Believe Media’s deplorable lack of curiosity over the White House’s apathy.

Juxtapose this Media with the 1970s Media aggressively inquiring into the Pentagon Papers leak, which, by various twists turns, eventually led to the Watergate scandal and Woodward and Bernstein. As well, juxtapose Nixon’s aggressive efforts to preserve military secrets by opposing publication of the Pentagon Papers with Obama’s apathy over publication of the Afghanistan Papers.

Ironically, Watergate concerned purely political maneuvering and never placed Americans or America’s allies in harm’s way. Wikileaks concerns political maneuvering in a military theater over release of information that frustrates future intelligence gathering and may get people killed.

At the very least, before the Make-Believe Media officiously proclaims “there’s nothing to see here folks, move along,” you’d hope they would at least turn around to see whether there really was nothing to see here.

Since Wikileaks revealed and NYT confirmed through Judge Nepolitano’s interview on FOX, that the White House was nonresponsive to their offers to review the docs, I and several other posters have been asking on all of the major conservative blogs/sites why no one is pressing this story? There are no coincidences. This is a WH pander to the far left because they thought all of the info was from pre Obama. Once again, you have political operatives in the WH that know nothing about the military or the war that are playing havoc with this country to score political points. You see this in the DOJ decisions on terrorism trials, immigration, voter fraud etc. You see it in the distribution of stimulus money. You see it for unions. You hear it from Obama, non stop campaigning. Have no fear though, one of the bright and intense leaders of the conservative press is on this big time, and it will come out. When it does, my feeling is that it may be the straw that breaks the camels back. The silence by the White House and their leftist press on this is deafening and speaks volumes.

I did not get to see Judge Napolitano’s follow-up Freedom Watch program this weekend as Cox Communications does not carry Fox Business Network. Did anyone see it and can you add anything to the discussion?

Did we not a story splash recently about over 1,000,000 Americans with “Top Secret” clearances? Let’s not forget that Top Secret is well above other security clearances.
