MEMBER DIARY

The Main Enemy: Do YOU want to defeat it? Will you help?

Some of you may remember Walt Kelly’s political cartoon strip “Pogo.” One of the main theme’s of Kelly’s political cartoon was, basically, that Americans had only themselves to blame for the awful things the federal government foisted upon them. Kelly was correct. The catch phrase of the cartoon was, “We have met the enemy and he is us.”

Got a mirror?

Conservatives. Lots of talk. Lots of writing. Little united action. Little united political action. Words, words, words directed at “the Republican Party” and the congresscritters won’t change them. Just like at a football game. The fans can yell all they want at the players. Won’t change a thing. If you want to change the outcome of the game you have to get into it. And there is only one way to get into the real ball game of Republican politics. And that’s by becoming more than just a registered Republican voter. You have to take the next step and become a “voting member” of the Party — a precinct committeeman. And it’s not hard. And over half of the precinct committeemen slots in the Party are vacant. Which is a huge opportunity for conservatives if we don’t squander it. Which I’ve been saying here for about two years. We (well, some of you did) squandered it before the 2010 election cycle. Will you get involved, finally, in 2011?

Let me say this three times so it sinks in. Because just over half of the Republican Party precinct committeemen slots in the Party right now are VACANT, the Party is there FOR THE TAKING by conservatives if they’ll just UNITE INSIDE the Party itself by becoming precinct committeemen, because precinct committeemen, and only committeemen, get to vote for the leadership of the Party and can vote to endorse the BEST candidates in the all-important, traditionally-very-low-turnout primary elections. Precinct committeeman is called “the most powerful political office in the world” because of this — and the “old guard” within the Republican Party has been doing its best to not let you know about this!

Again: Because just over half of the Republican Party precinct committeemen slots in the Party right now are VACANT, the Party is there FOR THE TAKING by conservatives if they’ll just UNITE INSIDE the Party itself by becoming precinct committeemen, because precinct committeemen, and only committeemen, get to vote for the leadership of the Party and can vote to endorse the BEST candidates in the all-important, traditionally-very-low-turnout primary elections. Precinct committeeman is called “the most powerful political office in the world” because of this — and the “old guard” within the Republican Party has been doing its best to not let you know about this!

One more time: Because just over half of the Republican Party precinct committeemen slots in the Party right now are VACANT, the Party is there FOR THE TAKING by conservatives if they’ll just UNITE INSIDE the Party itself by becoming precinct committeemen, because precinct committeemen, and only committeemen, get to vote for the leadership of the Party and can vote to endorse the BEST candidates in the all-important, traditionally-very-low-turnout primary elections. Precinct committeeman is called “the most powerful political office in the world” because of this — and the “old guard” within the Republican Party has been doing its best to not let you know about this!

We are our own worst enemy. So, knowing this, what are you going to do? How are YOU going to change things????? Just more blogs? Just more writing? Or, are you going to add action to your words?

Have you resolved to do anything this year? Why not resolve to actually get involved in the political process as a Republican Party precinct committeeman?

Judson Phillips of Tea Party Nation, for example, has resolved to try to get every TPN tea partier to focus on two top priorities for 2011: First, having conservative TPN tea partiers “take over” the Republican Party from the local level on down by becoming precinct committeemen. Second, having those same new precinct committeemen help put a stop to voter fraud in this country before the 2012 election cycle. Go here to read the whole thing:

www.tngovwatch.org/2011/01/the-tea-party-agenda-for-2011-get-involved-more-than-ever/

Concrete. Real. But takes action. United action. Now.

If you want to know what to do, go here: www.theprecinctproject.wordpress.com

But, don’t bother if you won’t go to one local Republican meeting a month for a couple of hours.

Questions? Email me at coldwarrior1978 at gmail dot com.

I hope some of the “keyboard warriors” of Redstate will actually take their political “action” to the next level. I know some of you have (please, chime in and let everyone know about your experience and whether you believe your time as a PC is well spent), and for that I am grateful.

Thank you.

For Liberty,

ColdWarrior

You convinced me early on and now I am a precinct delegate. It IS the only way to take over the Rinos in office. I would like to point out, though, it doesn’t happen quite as quickly as we want – at least in Michigan. It was pretty apparent that the tea party precinct delegates were the majority at the Michigan Republican convention, however our wishes weren’t adhered to when we wanted to vote on the lieutenant governor (we wanted a secret ballot). After yelling “secret ballot” over and over again in the auditorium, about ten minutes later our “tea party” candidate caved and pulled himself out of the race. Was he offered a job by the Snyder campaign (Snyder was running for governor)? Possibly.

At the current moment, we have a Michigan GOP chairman candidate who nobody really wants. It’s someone who’s currently in the party – our dysfunctional Republican party who had a FUBAR state convention and our dysfunctional Republican party who sent millions of dollars of printing out of state. But no one is running against the current finance chair. Why? Good question…Did Snyder offer any jobs to get other contenders out of the race? Possibly.

My own county’s Republican party is now filled with a majority of tea party executive committee members, however with the current office holders able to vote (Commissioners, etc.), we weren’t able to get the tea party person as the chairman. But at least we NOW have representation and oversight.

Other counties, however, are doing better than we are – and much more quickly. Even if things don’t go as planned, keep plugging away. The future of the Republican party is ours to take. Don’t be part of the problem. Be part of the solution.

Now if we can just get more conservatives to figure out, as you have, that it takes more than talking and writing opinion pieces about issues to actually change the Republican Party and, hence, our government. It takes actual “play” in the real ball game of politics — party politics. And the ball players are the precinct committeemen.

My hat is off to you — thank you for all you are accomplishing in Michigan.

    Keep recruiting!

A year ago I was a keyboard warrior, having no impact whatsoever on the fate of the nation. Thanks to the Precinct Project, I am now not only a PC, but was also elected a vice-chairman in my Legislative District.

We are seeing first hand in the LD all of the entitlement mentality and establishment shennanigans that has prevailed in the Republican party for far too long. For those of you who are not yet PCs, please consider that becoming one is the by far the most effective way to contribute to changing the direction of the country.

Here is an example of what needs to be cleaned up in our own back yards. Your backyard is likely in need of serious cleanup too.

Blog, blog, blog. Surf the sites. Outrage! Blog! Blog. Blog.

Then one day, thanks to Cold Warrior’s persistence, I made a call to a local Republican official to find the Republican County chairman.

Now I’m a precinct committeeman. I’d like to say more, but it so happens that my monthly meeting is tonight and I want to be ready.

and it doesn’t if you don’t.

CW got me to sign up as a PC at my very first TP meeting. Working with others we increased the number of elected PCs in our county by 60% in less than one year. all out of the TPs. Working with other conservative PCs our TP slate swept the county leadership elections and we filled 80% of the state committeeman slots with solid conservatives.

The county to the south of us also did well electing constitutional conservatives from the TPs into leadership.

We did another PC education and recruiting effort at last nght’s TP and got 6 more people to sign up

CW is dead on right. This is the ticket for conservatives to fix the GOP.
