What we need to do as soon as possible. Why we need to do it. Why it will work. If. We. Unite. NOW!

Folks, we need to win the next round of elections, no? And we need to elect constitutional conservatives, no? Well, they need to run on a party ballot. And they have to win the primary election. And that’s the EASIEST one to win because turnout is so low. If we can raise the turnout in our neighborhoods — our “political neighborhoods” — our precincts, we can cause constitutional conservatives to win those all-important, traditionally-very-low-turnout primary elections.

As Judson Phillips over at Tea Party Nation has advised, we (that means YOU and me — each one of us) have to DO two critical things simultaneously: become precinct committeemen in the Republican Party AND become poll watchers and poll workers to make sure the vote is not stolen.

We are weakest where we should be strongest, and most of us don’t know it. At the precinct level, from which all power within the Republican Party comes, over half of the precinct committeeman slots are VACANT.

This chart shows where the real power lies.

Where all the power comes from, over half of the positions are vacant. And that is where THE opportunity for constitutional conservatives exists — to take back the Republican Party and use it as the tool for winning the elections.

This next chart shows how the “power” chart should be drawn — with the citizen on top. But the citizen has been sitting up in the bleachers for generations. We need to become ball players. And in the real ball game of politics, which is PARTY POLITICS, if you want to be on the ball field and play the game, you’ve got to become a precinct committeeman.

This next chart shows that about half of the Republican Party precinct committeeman slots are vacant. And that the filled slots have been split, ideologically, about 50-50 between conservatives and Republicans In Name Only. The elections of Michael Steele as RNC Chairman, and then Reince Priebus, reflect that ideological split. In Arizona, where I live, it’s been even worse. In 2008, fewer than one-third of the PC slots were filled. We are not even up to half strength yet. But in two years we’ve completely changed the Party, because almost all of the new PCs are conservatives from the grass roots conservative groups. Now they are UNITING inside a real political party where they can actually BECOME the leaders of the Party and determine the outcome of the primary elections.

Here’s an article about what we achieved in Maricopa County in two years by UNITING POLITICALLY INSIDE A POLITICAL PARTY:

http://www.redstate.com/coldwarrior/2011/01/24/mission-accomplished-new-conservative-precinct-committeemen-elect-conservative-republican-leaders-including-the-state-chairman/

This next chart shows, again, that the Party is weakest where it should be strongest. All of the “upper level” officer slots are filled, but only about 44 per cent of the most important slots, the “we the people” slots, are filled. And if “we the conservative people” fill them up, we can take over the Party and determine the outcome of the elections.

(The numbers for the “upper level” officer slots are estimates; the point is there’s almost 10,000 precinct committeeman slots state-wide, that not even half are filled, and the number of precinct committeemen dwarfs the number of officer slots “below” them.)

This next chart shows what we have, and what we could have. Which Republican Party do you want? What will YOU DO to make the full-strength, 75 % solidly conservative landslide-win-producing political powerhouse of a party happen?

One more graphic. This one shows HOW we can get to a full-strength, solidly-conservative Republican Party IF we will all UNITE INSIDE the Republican Party as precinct committeeman. United we stand. Divided we fall. Let’s unite, no?

Let’s get it done, shall we? Who’s with me?

For Liberty,
Cold Warrior

in horry (pronounced “orry”) county,SC, this has taken place. At our convention April 2, Mike Connell, running for Vice- chairman, during a speech in which he confessed that this was his first convention, asked all those who were also at their first convention to raise their hands. 75% of the 400 committeepersons present raised their hands, and ALL of them were self proclaimed conservative “tea party” supporters. We elected 47 delegates to the state convention who were vetted and certified conservative.
By the way, Mike won his chair and has pledged to work his tail off for the conservative cause. He happens to be in the same precinct as me and we meet every month with a heck of a lot of other conservative activists at the Northern Horry Republican Club. Our goal is outreach to local colleges, clubs and churches, anyone who will have us.

I am sure Lindsey Graham will develop an ulcer when he reads this. Maybe he should call Bob Bennet for some advice.

2 Questions, edwyrd.

avgjo (Diary) Monday, April 11th at 8:03PM EDT (link)

How did you guys get so many people to show up at the convention?

Are you all still satisfied with the folks you elected?

Thanks a lot.

spontaneous uprising & dedicated activists

edwyrd (Diary) Monday, April 11th at 9:45PM EDT (link)

There were some old timers with a lot of experience, and a great sense of which way the wind is blowing (the same people who got nikki haley elected against all odds). They took it upon themselves to search out the “more conservative” (read tea party) delegates and then circulate the lists at the convention to garner more votes for these delegates. This stratgy worked quite well. And it helped that it was the biggest turnout for the county convention ever.

The organization itself (horry county republican party) seems to be suffering from growing pains. There was no newsletter or calender of events which would keep the whole “zeitgeist” kenetic. There is no system of constant contact or central “check with me”. No list of emails and websites. We are on our own for now. What will eventually take place is that the structure will catch up with the personnel. i will see to it myself. I will work with the Vice- Chairman and see if we can’t get more organised and “activated” as a “coherent political activist group”. We have already discussed as much.

Personally, i can’t wait to take on the libs at their own game. We have the wind at our backs and a whole country hoping we are sucessful.

(I’m thinking website) which links to the info sites already up, or has general info on the PC project? Clearly, finding info on this easily, outside of your work, is hard.

avgjo, we've got a few irons in the fire re committeeman info

ColdWarrior (Diary) Monday, April 11th at 8:50PM EDT (link)

Right now, believe it or not, as far as I know, the most comprehensive collection of information on the web for “how to become a Republican precinct committeeman in your state” is on the little blog I cobbled together.

To the extent I’ve found any other collections, or “how to” guides, I’ve linked to them.

I am working with a well-known and well-respected conservative citizen activist training organization to roll out a comprehensive Precinct Project web site that we hope will be a “one stop shop” for why conservatives need to become precinct committeemen, how to become one, and then what to do once you’ve become one. And have instructions for how to become one in each state. To make it easy.

In some states and counties, the current Republican Party establishment will do everything they can to keep people from (1) finding out where their committees meet, (2) getting their hands on copies of their bylaws, and (3) learning how to become a voting member of the Party. And virtually all incumbents will not encourage their constituents to become voting members of the Party because it’s against their self-interest in getting reelected.

Send me an e-mail at coldwarrior1978 at gmail dot com and I can give you some more info.

Thank you.

CW, just wanted to pass this on

lineholder (Diary) Monday, April 11th at 9:13PM EDT (link)

The county I live in NC had been DOA until last November. A group of folks with a “boots on the ground” attitude got involved on the precinct level. The new chairman has posted on the site that they want anyone who supports Republican ideals to be involved.

We have 78 precincts with only 3 open now, which is a huge improvement over the past.

It makes a difference. You’re doing the right thing. Just wanted to say….

lineholder, can you write that up as a Diary?

ColdWarrior (Diary) Tuesday, April 12th at 1:01AM EDT (link)

That’s a great turnaround story. If you could write up a short Diary telling your story with a little bit more detail, undoubtedly you will inspire others to get involved.

Also, do you have a link to your county committee web site?

Thank you!

ColdWarrior (Diary) Tuesday, April 12th at 1:05AM EDT (link)

To the extent you can, could you write up a short Diary explaining how you got involved, what you’re finding out about how it works, etc.? I understand you might want to leave out some of the details about the various factions you have encountered, but a “how it works” in Shelby County, AL Diary might inspire others to get involved as you have.

Thank you!

psyop_hic, thanks. What percentage of the PC slots in the Fairfax

ColdWarrior (Diary) Wednesday, April 13th at 11:05AM EDT (link)

County Republican Party Committee are filled? The Committee’s web site says:

There are over 500 active voting members as of December 2010 and more members will be nominated at our February 2010.

http://fairfaxgop.com/about-the-fairfax-county-republican-committee/

I found this on the 11th Congressional District web site:

Republican Party in Fairfax County

The Fairfax County Republican Committee (FCRC) consists of 725 members (603 elected by precinct, 61 elected by magisterial district at-large, and 61 elected countywide at-large), and a County Chairman elected at large, all for 2-year terms. District chairmen are subsequently selected for each of the 9 magisterial districts. The Committee holds regular meetings and organizes activities to support Republican candidates. The County Chairman (or his representative) also serves as a member of the 8th, 10th and 11th Congressional District Committees.

FCRC Chairman: Anthony Bedell (info@FairfaxGOP.org)
[Re-elected in Mar. 2010]
FCRC leadership: Executive Committee and District Chairmen
Headquarters: FCRC, 4246 Chain Bridge Rd., Fairfax, VA 22030
(just off Chain Bridge Rd. [Rte. 123] in Fairfax City, between Old Town and GMU campus; enter from West Dr. – see map)
Phone: 703-766-4GOP
Website: www.FairfaxGOP.com
Meetings; County Committee meetings are usually held on the first or second Monday of the month, 8 pm, at various school facilities around the County. Check our events calendar or the FCRC calendar for the date and location of the next meeting.

Reorganization cycle: Committee elections are held in even-numbered years.
Next election: County GOP Convention, Spring 2012
Last election: County GOP convention, Mar. 27, 2010

http://www.va11gop.org/main/fairfaxcounty.php

I could not find any where the voter registration totals, by party, for Fairfax County; however, I did find these totals for turnout in the governor’s race:

Precincts Reporting:
235 of 235 (100%)

Voter Turnout:
273,282 of 626,964 active voters (43.58%)
273,282 of 669,389 total voters (40.82%)

https://www.voterinfo.sbe.virginia.gov/election/DATA/2009/37C2EDEB-FACB-44C1-AF70-05FB616DCD62/UnOfficial/00_059_s.shtml

Republican candidate Bob McDonnell received 138,655 votes.

So, about 725 people are running the show in the Fairfax County Republican Party for the 138,655 pepple who were interested enough to bother to cast a vote for the Republican candidate for governor.

An idea how many vacant committee member slots exist right now?

Thank you,

Not sure what the percentages of vacant slots may be

Matt Genk (Diary) Thursday, April 14th at 10:21AM EDT (link)

Apparently, all that is required to become a voting member of the FCRC is a $50 check. I filled out an application for membership and was approved at some point in time (I was an inactive member for several years), so when my most recent donation was received, my membership was re-activated. If there are 725-some seats on the committee, then the number of vacant slots is somewhere around 170 (the executive director announced that the FCRC membership was somewhere around 580 at the meeting on Monday). I guess that would make a vacancy rate of around 23%.

What is probably more troubling, after taking a minute to think about the numbers, is the participation of those 580. I don’t know the exact number of voting members in attendance at the April meeting, but only 170-some votes were tallied on the matter which I wrote in my diary.
