          I hope that we can continue to register more Republicans from the independent ranks (and even the Dems — I recruited at least two “JFK Dems” to become PCs in Scottsdale about a month or so ago). And I hope that Jesse Kelly and Ruth McClung will run again. Then, of course, there’s the redistricting factor.

          Janet Contreras, you’ve probably heard, has decided to run for the Phoenix city council. And the rumor is that Tempe mayor Hallman is going to run for Fulton Brock’s seat on the County Board.

          We should be able to win every race in AZ — if only we could get more participation in the Party. LD 17, for example, has 277 PC slots, but only 130 are filled. 36 of our 69 precincts have no PCs and about 12 only have 1 PC (we discussed this at our monthly meeting last night). We ought have 3 Republicans in the state legislature, but we have three Dems — because the Dems out hustle us on GOTV.

          Onward and upward.
