Breaking: Fred Has Made Up His Mind!

Of course, he hasn't said what that decision IS, exactly, but he has confessed all the same.
Listening to Hannity on my way home from work today, I heard Fred (on stage in Atlanta) at Hannity's "Freedom Tour" concert event, answering questions ranging from Iraq to Iran to the Flat tax, etc...leading up to the ever-looming question about his announcement.
Hannity, like so many others, has repeatedly and relentlessly hammered away at Fred about his announcement. Fred has repeatedly and relentlessly stated over and over again that he is testing the waters, and the water is warm...(who HASN'T heard that one?)
Well, this time Hannity phrased the question this way:
"Have you made your decision about whether you will run?"
Fred:
"Yes. I have made my decision."
Of course, because I swear he likes to drive us nuts, he added, "but that doesn't mean I'm gonna tell ya what that decision IS..."
To which I, along with the audience in Atlanta, laughed...
It matters not WHEN he will say it...it is now just a matter of waiting til he picks the time and place he is MOST comfortable WITH saying it...
I absolutely know WHAT he will say...
Get ready folks-they are already taking shots at his lovely bride...the fun has yet to begin.
Fred is comin' to a town near YOU...and very soon!
If you read this Fred-Austin would be a great Place to stop in and set a spell...

It's war -- so when can we start shooting back at the enemy Democrats?
to bitch-slap Robert Jensen a bit.
But that place is COOL AS HELL!! There isn't a more fun place IMHO.....and I say this as a conservative.

The idea that someone from Ft. Worth, of all places, is talking smack about my beloved hometown hurts my brain. Austin is by far the best (and coolest) city in Texas.
:)
OK, OK, Ft. Worth is a fairly decent suburb.
Sorry guys, I couldn't resist :o)

Let the media tip their hands first. And about his "trophy wife"... how come Dennis Kucinich's wife is never referred to that way? Oh, yeah, only Republican men can have trophy wives.
I'm so surprised, SHOCKED even!!! All of his detractors said that he needed to enter as soon as possible, it was so nice how they cared for his entry. Why all this time I thought he was merely pondering it like he had never thought about it prior to his March appearance on FNS.
He's been running since March, this will be but a formality (and a good cycle of news).
Oh and Fred, if you need a ride around Oregon sometime, I am the proud owner of a Red F-150 pickup...

Did you hear me? Two. Cherry red, Dodge 4wd, 4 door diesel 3500s with duals.
Fred's wife can ride around with me and our kids (there's room for six of us in there). Fred can ride with Hubby and smile and wave at cute chicks.
He'd love MO.
I meant what I said and I said what I meant. An elephant's faithful 100 percent.
To me, the real question isn't when Fred will run but why. Why would he, a man apparently in his right mind, WANT to be President?
We have a country that is ready to surrender to a bunch of terrorist thugs in Iraq yet they hold onto the idea that NYC will be flooded in 10 years if we don't slap another $12,500 onto each automobile to cut greenhouse gasses.
We have a country that is more scared of a lawsuit from C.A.I.R. than 350,000 illegal aliens crossing our southern border each year.
We have a country that locks up border agents doing their job yet lets Al Sharpton divide the population.
And we have a country that will use my taxes to construct a islamic foot basin in the school my neighbor's kid attends while a Nativity scene at that neighbor's youngest school is banned and torn apart.
Instead of Run!Fred!Run! , I ask Why?Fred?Why?
That's what motivates Republicans, don't cha know.

There are things that need doing in this country that only a President can do...
Do with that what you will.

Maybe Fred Thompson is NOT totally blinded by ambition and is seriously considering the demands of the job and is taking it seriously. My sense is that he simply thinks he can do a better job than others in the race, on both sides. Do not confuse this with appearing laid back or lazy. Who wants to live in a fish bowl and get hammered by the liberal media day after day after day? Who wants to take on two parties and a few others who are at each other's throats and virtually not working to any common end? Who wants to fight with the flaming left wingers who want to destroy the 2nd amendment? Who REALLY would try to tackle little things, like social security, medicare, terrorist threats around the world, including our allies? Who wants to tackle the health care of Americans and not repeat socialist mistakes made by other countries? Who wants to really believe that terrorism is a clear and constant danger and has the vertebrae to get the job done and not just give it lip service? Who can restore some confidence in America in its standing around the world? Who can fight to preserve tax cuts because of believing that money in the pockets of Americans is not an evil idea? Despite the predictions of the pundits, I suspect Fred Thompson is really about to announce his candidacy. I REALLY like Elmer Fudd and think he is the right man for the job.
would be good on the 2nd Amendment and would be hated by PETA, so there are two things in his favor.
But of course he'll end up being just as good as Bush.
You guys will get what you want and deserve.
Keep voting the lesser of two evils...it's sure to turn out different one of these elections. (Ever read the definition of Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.)
Let's see we got No Child Left Behind, Prescription Drugs, and Biggest government since LBJ....
I wonder what we'll get with your next 'conservative' pick...
How do we know that at all? I disagree with Bush about No Child Left Behind, an unfunded federal mandate. Also stem cell research, his initial nominee for the Supremes, the lack of will to seal off the borders (and virtually all previous Presidents!), etc. You want to paint conservatives all with the same brush, based on your disapproval of George W. Bush. There is plenty of disapproval to go around about the President, Congress and the Supreme Court actions. The ultimate question may well turn out to be do we want a conservative who will work for the good of the republic, or do we want to go further down the socialist path. The far left has little regard for the individual and almost all for the "society", but their view of what society should be is certainly not mine. Before you go out and just vote against Bush and Cheney, you might consider very very carefully what you are voting FOR. Using your comment in the subject above, if Bush has done that poorly on all fronts, then you might see that Fred Thompson would be hard put to do worse. There are security, economic and health issues for which conservatives are more likely to work on and not tuck tail and run. Hillary Clinton is a very highly polarizing figure and by past performance, would swing our republic far to the left. There is quite a difference between a needed course correction and going backward.
Fox was reporting tonight that he'd announce the first week of August; I believe by law he has to announce by August 4th.
But before he announces, I'm betting that heads roll after the way the campaign bungled their response to the LAT article: flat-out denying his lobbying history with the pro-abortion group and then calling the questioners flies. That doesn't show leadership. Or maybe that's just FDT's style.

How bout low unemployment, tax cuts, not prosecuting killers (clinton) but instead kiling them, someone that is not afraid to defend life in any form, good SCOTUS picks (hopefully another) and not being attacked in almost six years.. etc.. there are many things that im not happy with but, believe it or not, things could be worse.
As far as i can tell. Fred is way to the right of W and is not affraid to be, can explain conservative principles in commonsensical way that even "Rock the voters" would agree with. My only question is.. who will be his Veep?
How does anyone feel about a Fred Thompson executive order to BUILD A WALL.. even highway sound deviders could shut it off in one year at only two billion. I dont want to hear we cant do it. China did it at least 3000 years ago.. im pretty sure it was more than 2000 miles long and they didnt have prefab or machines... Personally im more for Sprint Fred Sprint.. not Why Fred Why?

The NAU is just around the corner...but HEY at least we got tax cuts.
By the way, the last time I checked tax cuts don't make government smaller.

Apparently No Child Left Behind Doesnt work, because you cant read. I never pesonally stated that the govt was smaller. "There are many things im not happy with" Thanks

All this stalling is really getting old frankly. I like Fred, but he's taking way too long to declare. He has to face the heat and go through the daily routine of actually earning peoples votes. I want to see how he stands up, and the delay is only reinforcing the "lazy" stereotype.
But the campaign is having issues: witness the pathetic response to the LAT article. Pushing back the announcement a few weeks gives them time to change the staff a little, perhaps. Get rid of who ever is advocating the "I don't remember checking that box" strategy and maybe hire some recently unemployed McCain folks.

everyone's satisfaction but you, the LA Times reporter who's stopped answering questions about it and a former Democratic CongressCritter who's sourcing all this crap.
Keep push that meme, somebody'll be headed your way with a harpoon.

It hasn't been refuted to the satisfaction of the Philip Klein at the American Spectator, who was just in contact with the LA Times reporter 6hrs ago. I know this is RedState's first primary, but like it or not, FDT has to actually run and stand up to scrutiny to win the GOP nomination.

figuratively, of course, for expecting us 'round these parts to believe a reporter for the LA Times. I mean seriously, the L-freaking-A Times? Are you kidding me????

that FDT accepted a position at a left-wing lobbying firm, which used him to "draw" pro-abortion groups claiming FDT would lobby on their behalf... but he never actually lobbied. He doesn't remember checking that box? This is coming from a guy who a few years after lobbying with a left-wing, Clinton-backed firm would be telling voters while campaigning for Senate that an abortion "decision must be made by the woman," and we shouldn't criminalize doctors who preform abortions. (He won in a landslide because pro-choicers supported him in a year when Clinton carried TN.) A few years after that, in the Senate while chairing an investigation into the Clinton/China fund-raising scandal, he would align himself with the Dems and subpoena National Right to Life on a fishing expedition. A few years after that, he would vote to acquit Clinton of perjury: apparently, he bought into Clinton's definition of the meaning of "is."
Everyday, the more I learn about FDT, the more he looks like the next Lindsey Graham. He looks conservative, talks conservative, acts the Southern gentleman, but as soon as he's in power, he's John McCain's best friend and stabbing his party in the back. Luckily Graham is not in the White House, and hopefully will loose the primary when he's up for reelection. Not that I'm a single issue social conservative. I would be more likely to support FDT if he would just show some leadership and talk straight.
Until then, Huck is the only social conservative I could support and Rudy is the only Republican taking the lead and holding the Dems feet to the fire. LAT may be a bunch of partisans but dismissing the MSM as flies is not the way to lead the country let alone the GOP. If a candidate doesn't have the courage to answer the LAT, how's he going to handle Al Qaeda?

Run Fred Run!!!!!
But why on EARTH would he stop by that slimy cesspool, that rotten, fetid, maggot-infested road-kill of a town? The home of Ronnie Earle, the Peoples Republic of Austin, and home of the worst commie-left college campus in our fair state of Texas.
[apologies to Haystack, I know you have to live there]
Hey Fred, come see us in the Fort Worth area. And bring that "trophy wife", she'll fit right in with all the other ladies around here.
It's war -- so when can we start shooting back at the
enemyDemocrats?
