Haditha Commander To Stand Trial

By streiff Posted in Comments (5) / Email this page » / Leave a comment »

Wires are just now carrying the announcement, based on a leak of that investigation, that the Article 32 officer investigating the charges against Marine LTC Jeffrey Chessani has recommended that he stand trial for one count of failure to obey a lawful order and one count of dereliction of duty all arising from the alleged massacre in Haditha.

This is in contrast to the hearing officer who yesterday found there was no cause to try Lance Corporal Justin Sharratt with murder.

As I pointed out earlier today, we are nearing a situation of Orwellian proportions where an officer is tried for not investigating something that he was not required to investigate when those charges against his legal advisor have been dismissed and it has been shown that he report the incident to his chain of command up to and including the two-star level.

"Orwellian"... by Dadai

... an apt description as any in this case.

A train gets on the wrong track. It gets up a full head of steam. It becomes clear that it is going in the wrong direction. No, don't stop the train and reverse course... just slow it down. Gotta salvage something out of this witch hunt.

Are we sure that Patrick Fitzgerald isn't on retainer with the military prosecution team?

And by the way, I am so glad to hear all the calls from the MSM for an apology from the Mighty Murtha Mouth to these Marines.

Just another day...

No kidding by someone

Ask Scooter.

We have seen no clemency for the border agents that were doing their job arresting a drug smuggler. I doubt we will see any common sense regarding this man doing his duty.

Scooter Libby got saved from his witch hunt. Its pretty sad that the democrats can go after anyone not really well connected. Do you have to be a confidant of the president to avoid malicious prosecution ?

John Murtha, Resign by ggross56

That's what I'm recommending when I appear on Dirk Thompson's radio program this Saturday.

I called Murtha's DC office this morning to see if Murtha had a statement on Col. Ware's recommendations. Murtha's spokeswoman asked "So the trial is over?" I told her it wasn't, that the recommendations were "nonbinding." (Go figure, huh?) I asked if Congressman Murtha would "like to make a statement considering his accusations made over a year ago on ‘This Week With George Stephanopoulos’"? Here’s her response: "Congressman Murtha doesn’t have a statement because the investigation is still ongoing." Ain't that rich? I persisted, reading a quote from Justin Sharratt's mother, saying "This is a huge result, that report is a declaration of Justin’s innocence," she said. "This is very, very good news." I said "In light of Cpl. Sharratt’s mother’s quote, isn’t it appropriate to make a statement?" I got the same response.

A friend called Murtha's offices in PA-12 & DC later in the afternoon. They weren't answering calls. Imagine that.

Finally, I wrote something I titled "The Washington Post Weighs In on Murtha Scandal". It's must reading if I say so myself.

One last thing: We need to start the anti-Murtha campaign ASAP & we need to talk Diana Irey into running against him again, only this time we need to get her financed properly.

It turns out that the Sharratt family lives in Murtha's district. About 3 weeks ago, I was on Kit Jarrell's BTR show with Darryl Sharratt, Justin's dad. He told us that people approach him all the time now, saying "If I'd known then that Murtha was behind this, I couldn't have voted for him."

Whether we drive him from office by getting him to resign or if we have to defeat him in November, 2008, I don't care. But drive him from office we must.
