An appeal to my fellow Texans

I know there are a lot of us here. Regardless of who's camp you were in the chances are pretty good that you'll never get to vote for him. And even if you do, it probably won't amount to a hill of beans.
After California, Texas is the second most populated state in the nation. The greater Dallas-Fort Worth population acounts for the 4th largest metro area in America.
You'd think that a state like Texas, which prides itself as the home of all things BIG, would have a considerable influence in presidential primary politics. Sadly, this doesn't appear to be the case. The way all these pundits are talking, it doesn't look like it will even matter who gets our delegates since by the time we get to vote (in March) the GOP will pretty much have already picked it's candidate.
And just who are these rinky-dink states that are more influential than the mighty Lone Star State? Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina, Florida, Nevada, & Michigan. We have cities that are bigger than some of these states. There are others like Wyoming and Maine but for some reason no one seems to care what they think anyway. Between all these states, there are 154 delegates.
Texas alone has 140 - almost as many as all these states combined! Imagine the power we could wield if we didn't wait until March for our voices to be heard. But no, we wait until after Super Tuesday, a day where 1081 delegates are awarded from 21 states. By the time the election gets around to us, our 140 delegates don't really matter much, do they? Heck, by the time we get to vote, most of the candidates have already folded and we're left to pick among 2 or 3 that a lot of us don't even care for. Kinda sounds like our last governor's race, doesn't it?
So here's my proposal. We need to lobby our state to move up it's primary to AT LEAST "Super Tuesday". We cannot afford to sit around and wait 'til the party is half over before we show up. Look what happened to Fred. I think he waited waaaaay too long to get into the race and in the process he lost a lot of the support he could have had.
So what say you? Are you even going to bother to vote on March 4th? I don't know if I will. Unless Romney is still in and the race is close, it won't matter.
A state as big as ours does not deserve to not matter. I don't know who sets our primary date, the Texas GOP or the state. I do intend to find out and I'm sure one of you will enlighten me. We need to lobby the powers that be to change this date. Are you with me?
That or everyone else should move BACK. I'm so sick of this election and it hasn't even started yet.
There was a bill that died in the state congress last year. I recall reading somewhere that the district attorney of Houston had some objection. Will see if I can find the link.
I think the primary system needs to be slowed down, stretched out and made more orderly.
The caucus system is a joke and should be ended everywhere.
I like the idea that Texas can crown the winner this year.
And come March 4, if the republican nominee has been crowned, then we should all join together to give Hillary our vote. I want to beat her on the national stage.
So, unless my vote can send the republicans to a brokered convention, I've made up my mind. I'm going to vote for a Clinton for the first time in my life and enjoy watching her lose come November.
Texas Proud and Texas Loud
But was saddened how many idiots I know who voted for Obama to stop hillary. They are not very strategic...and Obama is just as liberal as Hillary but much harder to beat...

(Speaking as a young republican in Houston, Tx.):
For this year, Romney seems to have trouble in the south; moving Texas up would not have helped Mitt and would have most likely been near a split even if the Huck would have dropped out.
If Texas was Florida(a state with a wide representation of the republican party) or Ohio (a state that has an economy and housing industry tied greatly to the overall success of the nation and not to one relatively sure thing like the oil industry), i'd be for it; but I think Texas is way too predictable to warrant that kind of attention.
