Thank God It's Friday

And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.  And sitting down they watched him there;  And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

. . . .

Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.  And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?  Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.  And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.

The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.  Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.  And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, and came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many.

"All men will hate you because of me, but he who stands firm to the end will be saved." - Jesus

Thank you. by hunter

This is a very profound day for Christians.

Not to correct, but this is a very profound day for everyone. While Christians may be the ones to embrace the meaning of today, what happens today and Sunday, in the end, affects us all profoundly.

Fight On!

O Felix Culpa... by Pro Deo et Patria

O certe necessarium Adae peccatum, quod Christi morte deletum est! O felix culpa, quae talem ac tantum meruit habere Redemptorem!

"O happy fault, which gained for us such and so great a Redeemer! O necessary sin of Adam, which was blotted out by the death of Christ!"

"But God shows his love for us in that while we were yet sinners Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

It's a reminder by Bob Frazier

It's a reminder that, no matter how bleak it looks sometimes politically and socially (or sometimes even personally), in the end God wins! Good will defeat evil!

Once for all.... by tgharris

Christ quoted (and fulfilled) the first verse of Psalm 22: "My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me....?" so we could quote and live the first verse of Psalm 23: "The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want."

Like the song says: "He paid a debt He did not owe. I owed a debt I could not pay."

Thank you by joefixit

every one for letting me know that God has raised up a remnant in America, of all places. Freedom of religion not freedom from religion--a quote I see here and like. If we could only get the supreme idjits to correctly define the first and second amendments. We probably could do away with the rest. Alas, that is too much to hope for in a post christian culture.
