Obama found himself in Indiana yesterday as part of his Meet The Elite Tour 2008. Ever the friend of the bitter-clingers and bowlers everywhere, he once again insulted his fellow Americans. Let's get a definition out of the way first. From Wikipedia.

Dignity: The state of being worthy of honor or respect.

Obama told voters in Indiana that losing your job makes you lose your dignity, i.e. you are no longer in a state of being worthy of honor and respect.

To the elites, the regular folks are beneath them and represent a nuisance to be tolerated, not understood. He doesn't understand that dignity is not job-dependent. Dignity is a character trait. Good solid, honest, hard-working (whether employed or not) people have dignity. People who have been hurt or embarassed or ridiculed by someone else and walk away with their head held high have dignity. They don't allow such slights, whether personal or physical, to dictate whether they have dignity.

What this really tells us about Obama is that if you lose your job, he no longer thinks you are worthy of honor or respect. Of course he never thought that in the first place.
