Wow, this is a must read. It’s hard to even grab excerpts from Sowells piece since it’s so well stated.

But how much weight should we give to this stuff when we are talking about the future of the nation? This is not just another election, and Barack Obama is not just another president whose policies we may not like. With all of President Obama’s broken promises, glib demagoguery, and cynical political moves, one promise he has kept all too well. That was his boast on the eve of the 2008 election: “We are going to change the United States of America.”

Sowell, like Rush, has the rare gift of seeing the forest through the trees. Having perspective, able to see the big picture.

Many Americans are already saying that they can hardly recognize the country they grew up in. We have already started down the path that has led Western European nations to the brink of financial disaster.

Internationally, it is worse. A president who has pulled the rug out from under our allies, whether in Eastern Europe or the Middle East, tried to cozy up to our enemies, and bowed low from the waist to foreign leaders certainly has not represented either the values or the interests of America. If he continues to do nothing that is likely to stop terrorist-sponsoring Iran from getting nuclear weapons, the consequences may be beyond our worst imagining.

Against this background, how much does Newt Gingrich’s personal life matter,

Yet we are falling all over ourselves floundering in the tabloid media trap of comparing our candidates to perfection, rather than to the danger Obama represents to our country.

While the televised debates are what gave Newt Gingrich’s candidacy a big boost, concrete accomplishments when in office are the real test. Gingrich engineered the first Republican takeover of the House of Representatives in 40 years — followed by the first balanced budget in 40 years. The media called it “the Clinton surplus” but all spending bills start in the House of Representatives, and Gingrich was speaker of the House.

Speaker Gingrich also produced some long-overdue welfare reforms, despite howls from liberals that the poor would be devastated. But nobody now claims that they were.

There are nearly zero mentions of Gingrich’s accomplishments in office. If Bill Clinton can claim all the glory, why not give credit to Gingrich? Don’t these type of accomplishments start w/ the speaker in the house?

Did Gingrich ruffle some feathers when he was speaker of the House? Yes, enough for it to cost him that position. But he also showed that he could produce results….When you don’t accomplish much, you don’t ruffle many feathers. But is that what we want?

Coburn and the rest of the namby pamby GOP DC elites who came out after Gingrich basically calling him mean, should be ashamed of themselves. They made themselves look foolish. Meanwhile Coburn was boasting how nice Pelosi was. I haven’t heard Coburn apologize and admit his mistake for that.

Show me a leader who aspires to be liked and I’ll show you a LOSER. She me a leader who aspires to be respected and I’ll show you President Gingrich.

Those who want to concentrate on the baggage in Newt Gingrich’s past, rather than on the nation’s future, should remember what Winston Churchill said: “If the past sits in judgment on the present, the future will be lost.” If that means a second term for Barack Obama, then it means we’ve lost, big time.

A voice of reason, Sowell, like Rush, sees the big picture. Exactly as Gingrich does, after he put in the time to learn the lessons of history and able to take it to the most dangerous president we have had. A rare combination of knowledge, ability, and cohones.

Overall one of the best debates in that there was less gotcha crap and candidates had more time to make better arguments, rather than be forced into uninformative sound bites.

Gingrich won, hands down.   In addition, if you watch all the debates, you’ll see he rises to the top overall.  People are starting to warm up to him, saying his baggage may not matter as his performance is firing on all cylinders.    When the economy is on fire and you have no job, you are going to go with the most confident, inspiring person with a plan and old baggage will be largely ignored.   Candidates will not ever challenge him, and almost always agree with him.  That says something.  He studied Romney’s plan and referred to page 47 dealing with cap gains rates for low/middle income people.  He was prepared.  Did any other candidate even read Romney’s plan?  He gets that the lame stream media is waging war on America.  What other candidate is on this?   Gingrich needs a break to make a big run.  Perhaps the falling back of Cain?  an endorsement? (however tough to get endorsements when you are in 3rd/4th place, endorsers want to go with the ‘winning team’), perhaps a burst in grass roots fund raising.  Gingrich is the elephant in the room that everyone wants to ignore.  However, if a break happens, people will acknowledge publicly, what they think privately, Gingrich can surgically dismantle Obama and the lame stream media in one fell swoop.

Rick Perry stopped the bleeding.  He has work to do.  I can’t believe he didn’t reveal the main points of his economic plan, in an economic debate and said he’ll talk about in the next few days?  Team prep fail.  He’s got the money to stay in and has chances to put out a solid economic plan and recover from that.  His governor experience will keep him in the game.   I’m waiting for the slick Rick campaigner to show up.  I think the Pre-candidate Rick hype did hurt him as people had very high expectations of him from the get go.  We need the real Rick to live up to the hyped Rick.  He’d be a solid CIC.

Mitt Romney did OK taking some fire and handling it pretty smoothly.  Romney is going to get blowback when he came out supporting TARP etc..  He tried to come back and say he did not support bailouts of institutions.    TARP bailed out specific institutions, duh.   Romney supporting the big money center banks that got billions of taxpayer money is his chink in his armor, in addition to obvious health care.   Other candidates need to exploit this.    It is a VERY sore point with voters.   It’s total hogwash that the world would have ended if there was no bailouts.

Santorum, appeared much better, not so angry, had some good answers.  But has a long way to go.

Same with Bachmann, came across much better this debate but her time in the sun has passed awhile ago.

Ron Paul, also came across better, but he’s Ron Paul.

Herman Cain, took a lot of heat on 999.   Cain could be sly and spin this to his advantage by saying he is offering concrete specific plans, and as CIC, he’ll adjust his plans as he goes like he did in business.  That would be his “out” of the scrutiny of the proposed sales tax.   Cain is benefitting from any publicity is good publicity.  The public is slowly starting to chant “9, 9, 9″ even if they don’t know what it means.    Cain absolutely stepped in it though when he mention Alan Greenspan as his hero.  WTF?!!!   At the time, Greenspan was nearly worshipped, but now looking back he set the stage for big time bubbles and will NOT be remembered well.   Maybe Cain gets a pass here because its early and Greenspan hasn’t been villified in the general public, YET.

Huntsman did ok, but yes, comes across smarmy.

At this point it is a 4 man race:  Gingrich, Perry, Romney, Cain.    Remember at this point, last cycle Rudy was in the lead.   It’s time soon to narrow the field down to the Final Four to give them each more time to make their cases.

In a recent interview with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer Obama was asked about the lack of hope and change in DC and continued partisanship, he gives a couple reasons why.   One reason, congressional districting was a theory he has seen proposed.  The second reason, freakin chilling, was his own idea of the diversification “splintering” of the media.   He longed for the days where “…the entire population just watching Walter Cronkite hearing one source of news.”

I am surprised I haven’t seen any coverage on this.    Obama, off prompter, adding his own belief that the problem is splintered media.

What might be even be more revealing is that Blitzer had no follow up on that.   His hair did not stand on end as a member of the supposed ‘check and balance’ media when a sitting President in this day and time longs for the day of one source of news for the ENTIRE population.  It is an admission that Blitzer knows he is a part of that one media carrying on the propaganda for the left.   Why wouldn’t he reply with, “Mr. President, are you saying you would rather have one source of news media?, Please clarify your remarks.”

Obama blames the bickering and backstabbing(read not everyone agreeing with him on every step) on the lack of ONE news source for the ENTIRE population.

This will be a short diary because what else can you say after watching this video montage.  The President has been jawboning for over three years about jobs, jobs, jobs, pivoting to jobs, focusing on jobs.   Evidently he thinks anytime he needs to soothe America all he has to do is mention jobs.

Like blowing smoke on a bee hive.  Obama has nothing but smoke.

Notice he pulls out the “focus on jobs” after every left wing push in which he does tremendous damage to America.  Stimulus disaster=>jobs jobs jobs, Obamacare=>focus on jobs, etc….Jobs to obama is blowing smoke and whispering sweet nothings in America’s ear after bending us over.

Even the Congressional Black Caucus is now getting restless as obama has thrown them under the bus during his jobs death march tour in his black jobs hearse.   He skipped the hardest hit areas and opted for low unemployment cities.   Does he dare take his Misery tour to Detroit?

Again, he says he is going to blow some more smoke and read his mirrors in september, after his vacation, and think America is going to be placated by some magic words by the prompter reader.

This video should be the number one campaign weapon against Obama.  These montages really expose the smoke and mirror fraud in chief.

It’s always interesting when talking to fellow conservatives a bit about their background and how they arrived at their thinking. Was there a eureka moment when the scales dropped from your eyes? I think a little insight might reveal some common threads in how to appeal to even more people that have not truly discovered conservatism.

I grew up small town/suburb middle class with a stay at home Mom and small business owner Father. They didn’t talk politics much around me and Mom tended to vote D and Dad, probably voted R.

My interest in politics picked up in college with Ross Perot doing his talkin turkey to the hard workin ‘murrican people with the pointer and charts. Have learned a lot since then.

What is your story and what was your eureka moment or journey that led you to where you are today?

After considerable deliberation and reflection, I have decided not to pursue the office of the Presidency. This decision does not come easily or without regret; especially when my potential candidacy continues to be validated by ranking at the top of the Republican contenders in polls across the country. I maintain the strong conviction that if I were to run, I would be able to win the primary and ultimately, the general election. I have spent the past several months unofficially campaigning and recognize that running for public office cannot be done half heartedly. Ultimately, however, business is my greatest passion and I am not ready to leave the private sector.

So things are getting a little bit clearer and the wild card Trump is out. The threat of a third party run if he didn’t win the GOP nomination has been put to rest. I think that helps but I do hope Trump continues to take on Obama admin directly, being an effective attack dog to help Republicans. He can resonate with many with his style and I hope he zeroes in on economic issues, where Obama is exposed with no answers.

Talk about inflation and taxation.  Prices for all kinds of fines/violations/licenses/fees are skyrocketing as governments are scrambling to raise new revenue to pay for all the programs in place.

This is a prime example of government only looking out for itself in the interest of self preservation, and not looking out for you.   Oh yeah, “it’s for your safety!”  Open wide, you are about to swallow another load of Obama’s economy.

California’s State Senate President Darrell Steinberg admitted lawmakers raised traffic fines to raise revenue – not for traffic safety or to change driver behavior. It’s “one of the patches that we’ve relied on to avoid deeper cuts” to state programs, he said.

But closing a $28 billion dollar deficit isn’t easy. Consider these Golden State fines:

* Driving one to 15 miles over speed limit is $215. Compare that to $50 in Idaho and Washington State.

* Run a stop sign: $236

* No seat belt: $148. In Louisiana, the same infraction is $25.

* Broken headlight: $100

* Park in a disabled spot: $1,043. A second offense is $2,000.

* Pass a school bus with flashing red lights in San Francisco: $754

But it’s not just California. In a memo obtained by the Boston Herald, local police chief Ken Coye instructs his officers in the suburb of Malden to write at least one traffic or parking ticket per shift.

“We need to increase enforcement in areas that create revenue,” says the Coye memo. “Write ‘ONE TAG A DAY.’”

The noose is tightening all over in many ways.  All caused from trickle down poverty from corrupt big government DC.  This cancer metastisizes and grows everywhere.  Yet there are roughly 50% of duped American’s saying “Thank you sir, may I have another!” at the ballot box.

We get the government we deserve.  I hope America has learned an expensive lesson already and wise up for future elections and take an active role in taking our country back.

IL Supreme Court ruled 7-0 that Rahm is eligible to run for mayor, big shocker there, as they allowed his name to be on the ballot before making a decision.

The ol’ it depends what your definition of “resident” means routine.   The meaning is a living meaning open to interpretation depending on your political machine and influence.

CNN reported IL SC reversed and Rahm is back on the ballot.

There is an easy way to separate the cream from the crap, wheat from the chaff, the pig from the Patriot.  It’s as simple as asking the right questions to get at the right answers.

“XYZ City or state government has threatened to shut down, or has reduced government to ESSENTIAL SERVICES such as police and fire services until budget issues can be resolved.”

How often do you hear or read about this?   Unfortunately, you’ll be hearing this much more often in the next few months and years.  I always have a little chuckle of irony when I read about a local or state government that is in a budget shortfall announce it is going to reduce itself down to “ESSENTIAL SERVICES.”

I sit there and scratch my head and think, Isn’t that what government is supposed to be in the first place?  WTF have they been doing all this time providing NON essential services on my dime?

Essential services of government:  A true safety net for essential services that apply to everyone equally, that won’t be provided by the private market.  Why would they be providing anything more than that?

When you say “Essential Services”, one can’t help but consider the opposite, what are “NON-ESSENTIAL” services?  Is everything else government does considered NON-essential services?  And why are governments even involved in NON essential services?

Why don’t we hold every single office holder to this standard?  Why not make every pet project be held to this standard?   Why not ask this during debates and get pledges?

How about this for a standard debate question and candidate vetting question?

Mr/Mrs. candidate, your budget just got cut in half.  What government functions would you keep and why?

If we could only get to this, we’d start making some real progress.  We could then have them on record saying what is essential and what isn’t.  They would look like a fool trying to justify non essential services paid by their hard working constituents.

It is ESSENTIAL we all get involved and hold every politician’s feet to the fire and remind all our politicians, local, state, CONgress, White House that their next re-election could very well be deemed NON-ESSENTIAL by voters.

Obama makes history, once again!

Obama will make history for more than one reason during the Nov 6-9 visit. This will be the first time a teleprompter will be used in the nearly 100-feet high dome-shaped hall that has portraits of eminent national leaders adorning its walls.

Indian politicians are known for making impromptu long speeches and perhaps that is why some parliament officials, who did not wish to be named, sounded rather surprised with the idea of a teleprompter for Obama.

“We thought Obama is a trained orator and skilled in the art of mass address with his continuous eye contact,” an official, who did not wish to be identified because of security restrictions, said.

Obama is known to captivate audiences with his one-liners that sound like extempore and his deep gaze. But few in India know that the US president always carries the teleprompter with him wherever he speaks.

Obama’s advisors should have him stay home and let the propagandist media deliver his polished image.  As much as Obama’s trip is costing us (200 million a day is reported), maybe its cheap in the long run to have the rest of the world see the real teleprompter reader in chief.   Not to mention the coward scheduling an extended trip to hide after the elections.   You got nuthin!

After the “great uniter” got rebuked Tuesday he now comes out and says its time to work together?   After his attrocious bitter partisan past 2 years have failed?  Somehow I don’t think he’s really learned his lesson.

I woke up this morning happy to see that Tom Emmer closed the gap overnight on Mark Dayton in the MN Governors race. But….

Dayton – Emmer Governor race gap is about 9,000 votes. AFTER a “glitch” was found and corrected, that DOUBLED Daytons votes by 60,000 in urban Hennepin county. Whiskey Tango Foxtrot!

The mistake doubled candidate vote tallies in the state’s most populous county. The effect was to artificially inflate DFLer Mark Dayton’s advantage over Republican Tom Emmer in the governor’s race. When the correct numbers were posted on the Secretary of State’s website a few hours later, Dayton saw his lead shrink by about 60,000 votes.

Before the polls closed, the day went by with few problems.

Big crowds were reported at some polling places during peak times. Secretary of State Mark Ritchie said, in general, the lines moved quickly and most reported issues were minor.

“Any efforts to intimidate seemed to not really work. Any efforts to kind of disrupt the elections seemed to have no impact,” said Ritchie.

Mark Ritchie won again last nite (who is supported by Soros SOS project) was worried about straw man fantasy “intimidation” by tea party voters and poo pooed the 60,000 vote doubling for Dayton as “minor” when the race gap is 9000. After Coleman-Fraudken I don’t know how anyone would vote for Ritchie again?

The race is now up for a recount. Here we go again.

Why this race is close is another topic, especially on a night where we saw a red tsunami. I’m only drinking bottled water from out of state from now on.

I heard Joe DioGuardi, running against Kirsten Gillibrand, on an interview today and he pointed something out that is shockingly telling on why we are where we are today.  It really got my attention and alerted me to something very wrong with our system.

Joe said, If Kirsten gets elected, she will be the 57th (The Won’s fave #) Senator out of 100 that is an attorney.    If Joe gets elected he’ll be the only certified public accountant.   Think about that for a moment or two and its implications.

If I remember right from the interview he also said there were approximately 250 attorneys out of 435 in the house of representatives.   I’m not sure how many CPA’s are in the house but I sure as hell know, not enough of them.

These people are responsible for America’s check book.   No wonder all we get is 2,000-3,000 page bills full of complex gobbledy gook, most of them are attorneys!  You’d think they are being paid by the word!

Obviously something went wrong.  Wasn’t congress intended to represent the cross section of America?   Over half of Americans are certainly not attorneys.  Yes, they are a necessary evil these days but not over 50% in CONgress.

We need more real citizens in congress, business leaders, accountants, concerned parents, people that respect the Constitution.

Yep, for the last 5 people in this country who don’t think this administration is a joke, here you go.

It seems that Colbert is now an expert since he spent one day in NY as a vegetable picker.

One day, one freakin day.  I hope this is a comedic routine to break up the tragic comedy that goes on in DC every day while America falls apart,  but it doesn’t sound like it.

Just what is the fascination with hollyweird by the left anyway?  Is it that they are always in fantasyland?    From angry comedians as spokes people(garafalo, franken) to unfunny comedians as senators (Franken),  Sean Penn and Glover as jackass ambassadors to Chavez,  James Cameron as an oil expert etc….on and on

This is the best this administration can do?  Invite yet another comedian(at least Colbert is funny), for serious testimony on a serious matter?  A person who worked ONE DAY in a field?

I’m hoping hollyweird has actually moved to DC and this is all make believe, a charade for some upcoming comedy.   But sadly, this is reality and America is suffering for it for the cheap thrills of a few elected establishment elites in DC.

Ironically, Colbert will actually bring some needed reality to DC by revealing how much of a big joke this administration has been.    Openly and honestly right to America’s face.

The elites laugh in our faces, “what recession?”, things are well here inside the beltway, full employment, big money and benefits, parties galore, perks from lobbyists.   The joke’s on YOU America!   Whatcha gonna do about it?

I noticed MN Sec State Mark Ritchie on local news pimping out the new absentee vote counting changes.   They will no longer be counted at each precinct level, but rather at centralized locations by “special panels of election officials”.   The individual precinct does not touch them.  It is in the name of “accuracy”.

It is reported that absentee voting is at the highest in 20 years, citing 29,000 absentee ballots and coupled with a low voter turnout overall.

Does anyone have more details on these special panels and the chain of custody of these ballots?   I just know when Mark Ritchie is pimping something, one ought to be suspicious.  We all know how the Coleman/Franken thing turned out.

Obama must have one heckuva bus.  Like a monster truck bus to run over so many people in such a short time.

You have to look pretty hard to see any news on the sinking of a S.Korean ship and death of 46 sailors.  S. Korea has released information pointing right at N.Korea.  Hillary even thinks it is strong evidence:

U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said the evidence that a North Korean torpedo sank a South Korean navy ship is “overwhelming and condemning.”

So what does Hillary say next?   Get ready for the tough talk from cankles.

“We agree that North Korea must stop its provocative behavior, halt its policy of threats of belligerence towards its neighbors,

I must translate here as she is speaking Obamaism and Holderism,  “provocative behavior”=killing 46 sailors,   “belligerence”=killing 46 sailors and threatening “all out war” if retaliated against.

“I think it is important to send a clear message to North Korea that provocative actions have consequences.  We cannot allow this attack on South Korea to go unanswered by the international community.  So we will determine our best options moving forward and send a clear, unmistakable message to North Korea regarding the international community’s and its neighbors’ concerns about its behavior,” she said

There you go again, using “provocative” and “behavior”, see above translations .   Can’t you just hear Shrillary now?   “Kids, knock it off, don’t make me pull the car over! “  or “Wait til your Dad gets home after his cigar with an intern!”    Ohh no, not the international community!!  Kim Jong Il has learned from Saddam Hussein that he Intl community will do much of nothing but those terrible scary “denouncements” from the UN types that sends shivers up your spine.

We have an admin with an AG that will not say “radical islam” but the admin has no problem finding a fall guy for not giving briefings that weren’t crisp or well-presented.

Someone pinch me, I was hoping this was just a nightmare.  Is there ANYONE, one person in this administration that has any respect for the law?  Any respect for actually reading something before they go and flap their gums about it?

Folks, this is NOT an incompetent administration.  This is a more dangerous focused administration with their eye on the prize.  The ends justify the means.

Since this administration intentionally doesn’t read anything I wish someone would slip a 90% pay cut into a bill.

And not a peep from the lame stream media.

What about TWO top Obama admin officials admitting in public they don’t read the 10-20page law they have been publicly vocal about?
