*** UPDATE *** NBC’s Pete Williams has more:

Less than 24 hours after an Illinois appeals court bumped Rahm Emanuel off the ballot for Chicago’s election for mayor, the state’s supreme court put that ruling on hold and ordered the city to include his name on any ballots being printed.

“The Board of Elections is directed that if any ballots are printed while this Court is considering this case, the ballots should include the name of petitioner Rahm Emanuel as a candidate for Mayor of the City of Chicago,” the Supreme Court said in a one-page, unsigned order.

The court said it acted after receiving legal briefs from Emanuel and from his legal opponents who claimed he was unqualified because he did not meet residency requirements of state law. Today’s order left unresolved whether the state’s high court would take up the entire case on a speeded-up basis, but the order gave Emanuel the rapid relief he was seeking — to keep his name on the ballot.

That?s all that matters ? even if he?s ?not allowed? to run for mayor, his name will still be on the ballot.

If NOT eligible, he?ll win the election and then the fun really starts.

This will have national implications ? don?t doubt me.

the SC has to think chances are very good they’d rule in his favor to do this, no?

……what’s another little “nudge” gonna mean in the long run, right ?

The laws and regulations don’t matter to them and that’s part of the standard m.o. for the left and many many Democrats.

Another part of the mentality is that they’re going to do what they’re going to do and anyone who gets in their way is going to get the typical bitter clinging snot beat out of them in the media…… and if that doesn’t do the trick, a real beat-down is probably in the cards.

They’re not gonna stop until something somewhere triggers a real crisis too good to waste.

Even if there were overwhelming argument to keep him ineligible. The alternative would be more teamster riots, so the law be damned. Hey that’s why they call them ‘living documents’!

A waste is such a terrible thing to mind.

Of course if you are dead that is hard to do.

Let’s see if the living people of Chicago can defeat Rahm.

    Popcorn is popping.

At least the Bears lost so Obama won’t be stinking up Cowboy Stadium…..

Supporters are mostly rabid and angry with no substance. A couple of them looked drunk or high. Forget the law! He served obama and should be special they say. The opposer was more calm and rational.
