Sanctity of Human Life Act

As we ring in the New Year and begin the 111th Congress, the need to protect the unborn remains front and center in the national political debate. Each year, in keeping with my promise to my constituents, the first bill I introduce provides Constitutional protections to unborn children.

Yesterday, I was proud to introduce the Sanctity of Human Life Act that defines life as beginning at fertilization with the creation of a human zygote. As a physician, I understand the medical and scientific truths that life begins at conception. I also understand that the entire abortion debate rests on the decision of when life begins. That’s why my bill, among other things, says unequivocally that, at the moment of fertilization, a human life begins and must be protected by law.

As James Madison wrote in Federalist 39, the form of our government must be reconcilable with the fundamental principles of the revolution. First among those principles is the right to life. If a nation will not protect the most innocent of human beings, what will it protect?

Concerned citizens and lawmakers must keep this fundamental principle in mind as we work fervently to protect the rights of the unborn. When I was a full-time doctor, I served on a board of directors for a crisis pregnancy center in the inner city of Atlanta which fought to save the babies of underprivileged moms. Now, as a United States Representative, I am using the tools my constituents have blessed me with to protect life and give Constitutional protections to the innocent unborn.

My bill, the Sanctity of Human Life Act, gives Republicans and Democrats alike who cherish life an opportunity to protect and defend the innocent and most defenseless among us.

No Brainer..

This is probably tghe easiest bill that we Red Staters can lobby around.
Let your voie (and e-mail) be heard loud and frequently through the halls and offices of Capitol Hill. Let this law persevere through the recriminations that it is sure to face from NOW, NARAL, Planned Parenthood, et. al.
This law should be presented for the incoming Presidents’ signature, and then if he vetoes it, he’ll have some ’splainin to do, and we shal remind all of America of this bill’s demis.

Congressman Broun, please keep us poste as to the progress of your bill.

If you can read this, thank a teacher. If you can still read it in English, You’re Welcome

Straight to committee where it will die. I’m sure that’s not what you wanted to hear, but that is the reality of the situation. If something like this wasn’t past in 2002-2003 when the GOP controlled both houses and the POTUS, it sure isn’t going to be passed anytime soon.

Wrong answer

The correct answer, and attitude, is “We will engage with the RedState Army and lobby for this legislation”.

We do not need Eeyores. We need those who will get off their butts and CALL their reps and senators to support legislation that is worthy of support, just as this bill is.

NOTHING is over until WE decide it is.

Decorum is fo’ suckas

Thank you for posting this information for all of us Redstaters. Also, thank you for taking a leadership role in bringing this important legislation up at this time. It is more than time that us Republicans take the lead, rather than waiting for the Democrats to put us in a defense position with the introduction of their Liberal legislation first. Thank you, and keep fighting the good fight for what is right, literally and figureativally.

May God help us.

Here's the problem though: "The point at which life begins" is NOT the core of the abortion debate

Raven Monday, January 12th at 5:41PM EST (link)

It should be, but it is not.

The debate is over 2 of the 3 fundamental human rights bestowed upno us by our creator.

Life vs Liberty

When you look at the measures the Left is trying to push to protect and further abortion, you see that they are more than willing to kill children even After birth. After birth. After the point where Americans universally believe that there IS, indeed, life in that body.

We are debating over when life begins.
THEY are declaring that a mother has the Right to murder her children regardless of their age.

We will not win this debate until we show the world what the opposition’s argument really is.

“Unlike cruel liberty that requires you to stand and take responsibility for your choices, kind tyranny requires only that you kneel and surrender your choices.”

2 options

givemeliberty Monday, January 12th at 9:55PM EST (link)

As I see it we have two options. The first is to sit on our laurels with a defeatest attitude and do nothing. The second and far more favorable is to flood our Congressmen with calls and e-mails demanding that attention be paid to the matter. If we want change the nwe have to take the responsibility of making sure our representatives know how we feel on this and other issues.

“If a nation expects to be ignorant and free, in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.” -Thomas Jeffereson

Thank you.........

Congressman Dr. Broun:

An honor to know you’re here at RedState.

While I detest the thoughts of the actualities of abortion, psychological effects on many more involved than the mother, the cost on society as a people, etc., the realities show that we are facing a monumental life-problem from our so-called ‘friends’ on the other side of the political aisle.

I honestly believe that they are on a glide path that will also endanger more than just the unborn. There’s the other side of the life-spectrum to consider in their motives.

If the far left masters of the incoming administration have their way, I fear that euthanasia will also rear it’s head sooner than later as a way for….. and I’m sickening myself thinking on this level……. a way for saving money on health care costs.

I wish you all the best in the coming session and God Bless America, for we truly need His help now.

Cheers from South Florida !

Of course you can have my guns……. Bullets first.
I didn’t say rounds, shells or magazines……
I said bullets first.

Thank you fellow Georgian

Congressman Broun:

Thank you for supporting this fundamental issue. In addition to the facts surrounding conception, the health of the woman is lost in this debate.

Women who have abortions are five-times more likely to get breast cancer than women who never have an abortion.

Women who have abortions are ten-times more likely to be on depression-related mood-altering medications post-abortion event than women who never have an abortion.

In addition, cervical cancer and other forms of female cancers are also increased. This information is frequently blocked from the debate. Living pro-life saves more lives than the unborn child.

Thank you for the fight. We need you, and more like you, now more than ever.

Happy Pro-Life Female in Georgia
