MEMBER DIARY

An Election Pre Post-Mortum

The Only Man on the Democrat Bench will soon get his Unconditional Release

Marco Rubio. Ted Cruz. Bobby Jindahl. Jim DeMint. Susanah Martinez. Rand Paul. Sarah Palin. Mike Pence. Rick Santorum. Nikki Haley. Bob McDonnell. David Vitter. Alan West…

The strength, the passion, the intellectual rigor, the very life, in our political body-politic is all on the right. Specifically, the conservative right.

When Barack Obama loses next Tuesday –and he will– the Modern Democrat Party will resemble nothing so much as the Seattle Pilots in the early winter of 1970: Broke, wandering for a home, lacking any stars, and seeking for a reason from the politicos for a reason to exist.

Barack Obama will be utterly vanquished, and the Democrat Bench will be empty.

Who will queue up to represent the Democrat party after the hurricane descends on them, and exposes the brittle skeleton of their world-view? Their philosophy (if you can call it that) is nothing but a thin tissue of resentments, petty grievances, lies, and distortions– and who wants to willfully put their name on that pile of crud, after is has been demonstrated to be such a sophomoric sham?

All they have left, at least in terms of willing personnel, is a bunch of leathery antiques, left-over matinee idols from decades gone by, and other assorted security risks and criminals. John Edwards for President? Well, maybe after the acquittal. Or the prison term. Debbie Wasaman Schultz? She’s gonna have a hard time holding onto her district.

Hillary in 2016! Yeah, right. Whatever. She looks tired, and her ideas are tired. She was fresh in the days of bell-bottoms and bra-burning. Now she has all the political allure of the dour old organist at the Unitarian Church who could never hold onto a man passed the third of fourth date. Chris Van Hollen? Chuck Schumer? Joe Biden?

Joe Biden?

The problem with all these potential Democrat mantel-bearers is that they stood so close to Barack Obama that they’ve soiled their Sunday Go To Meetin’s with his record. And, after next Tuesday, it is a record that won’t come out in the wash. They are all unrepentant apologists for an utterly empty personality-cult that’s been propped up with the most vacuous of lies, propaganda, and wishful thinking.

You can call this many things, but you can’t call it a governing philosophy.

No, the Democrat Bench will be empty, utterly and completely empty next Wednesday.

Our Bench, though, the Republican Traditionalist, Reagan Conservative Constitutionalist Bench, is filled to the brim.

Thus, our biggest worry will be the Republican Leadership on Capitol Hill. It, on the other hand, is chock-full of clownish deal-makers, obsequious bootlickers to a hyper-vulgar pop-culture that’s in its death-rattle, and beige-colored 23-year-old College Republicans-for-Life. And it is there that the real fight will begin.

John Boehner, the Weeper of the House, calls movement conservatives “knuckle draggers”. Mitch McConnell has openly declared that outright repeal of Obamacare is something akin to the outright repeal of the law of gravity: Impossible in this or any other lifetime.

Barack Obama, as of about 9:30 PM next Tuesday will be about as useless and irrelevant as a Pong controller hooked up to a Wii U. He’s already, in my mind, a non-issue. The real problem is this: We have roaring, lion-hearted conservatives begging for leadership roles, champing at the bit to turn the ship of state about before it tumbles over the falls. And we have weepy, hand-wringing old sob sisters guarding the gates, eager to make deals with phantoms long since vanquished, with enemies long since conquered.

After we win Tuesday, we’ve got a lot of work to do to turn this Country around. We’re going to have the power to fix things, and we’ve got to do it right this time. You’re right about the Democratic bench being basicly empty, but it was in 1992 also, its not like Bill Clinton was some heavyweight who steamrolled his way to victory. He was a nobody from nowhere who won because we beat ourselves, and that can’t happen again. If we do things right this time, and as you correctly pointed out we’ve got the men and women to do it, it won’t really matter how empty or stacked the Democratic bench is in 2016. We’ll expand our majorities in 2014 and cruise to victory in 2016. I believe that we can do it, Romney certainly wasn’t my first choice but he’s obviously going to be a MUCH better President than Obama, plus the fact that he will actually be working with Republicans in Congress to actually get things done will make things even easier for him to turn things around, and help us get a REAL recovery going in America, a recovery that Obama’s far-left policies have been preventing for far too long. I can’t wait for election day, and the Romney landslide that will begin a bright new day for America!

Curmudgeon, great diary! You are spot on with your observations. I am sure the libs will try to resuscitiate a player but for the present and near future, they are done. We must do all we can after this election to force the “weepy, hand-wringing old sob sisters” out and put the new conservative blood in their place. It is only by doing this that we will hold the libs at bay in the long term. It would be great to be able to tell my grandchildren in the years ahead when they are old enough that we, the conservatives at the turn of the century, give them a government once again like that the Constitution promised. What a joy it would be to say, “We built that”!

  • norris

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I would like to add Michele Bachmann to your list of powerful leaders . Boehner and McConnell are too easy going ,I want a John Wayne or Clint Eastwood type that bites down like a pit bull and never gives up. Harry Reid must be removed or neutralized hopefully by the state of Nevada.

    • Dave_A

Anyone who – like Bachman – believes vaccines cause autisim, has no place in the GOP leadership… Further ‘minus points’ for her ‘let the US default’ position last year.

She is a net-negative to the GOP.

      • PowerToThePeople

Jeez you are a moron Dave. Besides that fact it has become painfully obvious you have diarrhea of the mouth.

        • Dave_A

Somehow I think you completely missed her performance in the primaries…

          The guardasil-gave-a-12yo-autisim thing…

Bachmann is a liability – one of the ‘Bad News Bears’ so to speak….

          • PowerToThePeople

My comment to you stands and in fact is reinforced with your newest remark. You are a prime example of what is wrong with our party today and why their should be purges.

          • Dave_A

Your comment has no facts to back it up, nothing but your own over-hyped vitriol.

Bachmann is just as much part of what is wrong with the GOP as RINOs like Lugar.

            Just on the other extreme.

She holds views that are known to be scientifically false & medically dangerous, and used those views to help bump ‘the best candidate of the 2012-season primaries’ out of the race (That would be Gov Perry of course)…

And then there’s the gift-horse she gave the opposition in the debt-fight… The Left is always going to have the edge in PR due to their allies in the media… Conservative politicians have to think smart before they open their mouths or take a position on something – because even if the substance is right, the DELIVERY will kill us, if not done right… Strategy is lost on Bachmann – she only ‘gets’ attack-mode, and the perception that she is a ‘leader’ gets the whole party in trouble…

So how about this: Rather than attacking ME, why not defend your candidate?

          • PowerToThePeople

I do not need to defend a strong conservative, her record does that for me. You are simply a putz who runs your mouth constantly and seldom adds a thing to the conversation. But when you actually compare a moments mistake to someone with a poor track record like Lugar, you simply show yourself to be a fool and a moron. But at least you topped that stupidity with your comment that she bumped Perry from the race. But maybe I am wrong, have you ran a successful campaign without any off the cuff mistakes……ever? I did not think so. But maybe you have done something for the cause other than typing your normal stupidity? No? Damn, I was hoping there was at least one saving grace attribute to you.

Now go find another topic to make yourself look foolish, you have already accomplished that goal quite nicely with this subject.

          • streiff

This is a warning. Every time you get in a thread you end up calling people names. Stop it. That behavior is disruptive on a site that is attempting to build community and it cannot continue past this warning.

In Bachmann’s particular case she doubled down on her Tardasil comments the next day. I like her a lot but she is just not ready for the national stage.

          • PowerToThePeople

No one said national stage, at least I did not. But his attack on her simply being a republican is bogus. His attack on people who support her was even worse and if that is acceptable on a site like this, I am on the wrong site. Simply called it as it is and considering his past comments, went pretty easy.

But as always, your wish is my command. Will simply watch you set the example of your rule when you call the treasured community asshats and such.

          • streiff

we are here to attack candidates. Read my stuff on Romney in 2008 and last spring. We are not here to attack each other. I’m trying to make myself very clear on this. The next “idiot” or “putz” or whatever will result in a suspension.

          • Dave_A

Which cause? The ‘War on Terror’ cause, or the GOP winning elections cause?

Due to my involvement in the first, I haven’t been involved directly in a campaign since I worked for the Bush 04 campaign in Milwaukee. We lost the state, but he won without WI…

This year, I was ‘over there’ until April, and I now live in a one-party blue state (thanks to it being my last active-duty station, and liking the weather)…

So now that we’re done with the weak ad-homs…

It’s not a moment’s mistake. It’s a pattern showing a lack of judgement & incredibly poor PR skills.

She does not think before she speaks or takes a position, which shows absolutely NO grasp of strategy & NO understanding of how her actions impact ‘the cause’…

Same fault shown by Akin and Mourdock – but just on a much greater, more repetitive scale.

Now, I am not calling for her ouster or rooting for her opponent (I reserve that for members of the Paul family, simply because Ron’s legacy needs to be extinguished as quickly as possible) – she’s a reliable conservative vote. I just do not want her anywhere near ‘leadership’ or any position that gets her in front of the cameras. She needs to sit down, shut up & keep voting the right way.

The Dem Candidate for President in 2016 is right in front of our eyes: BIG BRObama! He will try to be the Grover Cleveland of the 21st Century.

Dems will demonize everything for the next 4 years: I just wrote elsewhere how during the terms of W. Bush, when the economy was going full-steam with employment at 4-5%, Schumer, Pelosi, Reid, et al. were screaming “Worst Economy in American History” and “Jobless Economy” and so on. Expect MAObama to do the same, expect more class warfare, not less, in the coming years.

If Dems are only 4% away from having a majority of Americans dependent on the government either for employment as bureaucrats or for unemployment/welfare/disability/old-age benefits, they will relentlessly keep hate-the-rich agitprop going until they are back in power.

The election of Romney may just be a small hiccup on the longer road to becoming a North American France. We must stay vigilant and keep pressing the Case for Conservatism to the next generation in high schools and colleges, as well as to the public in general.

    • jaykali

Nah, O doesn’t even like being prez. That won’t happen.

      • Ausonius

It would seem he likes the idea of being president, but actually being stuck in D.C. and having to deal with people, – rather than just “by-passing Congress” and dictating legislation by imperial fiat, which he claimed “some folks” wanted him to do – does not seem to suit him!

        • jaykali

Sure but he’s not running again. This is his last election.

  • gawken

The Dems will be left with THREE, count ‘em THREE, ex-presidents..Carter, Clinton, and Obama, who will suck up ALL the political oxygen in the Dem atmosphere, attempting to justify their legacies, and direct the party going forward….good luck with that.

And who then will be the public face of the Democrat party..the elected officials of the “loyal opposition”..why…Reid, Pelosi, Schumer, Durbin, and a few assorted Black Caucus members. That’s gonna go over well…

    • chuckg

      Democrats….the party of
      Carter
      Obama
      Clinton
      Kerry……

What acronym could we use for this group?

    • http://impudent.edublogs.org/ kyle8

You make a good point. Obama will continue to be the face of their party, even more than Clinton. and he is an even bigger Narcissist than Bill.

  • commonsenseobserver

Tidbit that ought to be deployed in the closing days against those idiots, on BBC and elsewhere, who hail Obama as the great bipartisan leader obstructed by Republicans… 0 votes for his budgets. And even if they had been enacted, more of the same would not work. But we need to do more than halt him- we must reverse his actions and turn America around.

That’s why, in addition to a GOP house, we need a Conservative White House and Senate.

  • Dave_A

If Romney wins, and the ‘real’ recovery happens on his watch, the GOP will benefit in the same way the Democrats benefited from FDR’s legacy….
