The Last Line of Defense against Obamacare: A Little Civil Disobedience…
Yes, it comes down to this. I think the Founders would Agree...
I am a small business owner. My brother and I started our little company in 1993. At first, it was just him, and later that year, I joined in. That first year, our total revenue was around $56,000.
Man, it’s hard to imagine…
Much happened in the intervening 20 years, much that could fill entire posts of their own. What took us an entire year to earn in 1993 now takes about a fortnight. We have grown from just my brother and me to around 14 full-time employees that blossoms every retail tourist season to about 40.
Despite Mr. Obama’s scorn, my brother and I DID build our business. We had no rich uncles, no sugar daddies. We just worked and worked and worked. That first year, I earned a little more than $2,000. I was pretty focused on growing the business, so there wasn’t much time for anything else after the 16-hour days anyway.
You know something? All those years, we’ve paid our taxes, filled out and returned all the filings and withholding and unemployment insurance and on and on and on.
But, now we’ve come to it: Pace Applebee’s and Papa John’s, there are consequences to elections, and, if the fools in Washington (John Boehner, I’m talking to you!) don’t cease and desist with Obamacare, I think I might encourage all fellow business owners to consider invoking the 9th and 10th amendments to the constitution.
Washington ignores the 9th and 10th. Basically, they reserve the rights not specifically enumerated in the Constitution as belonging to the States, and to the People, respectively. Well, I’ve scoured the Constituion, and I can’t find a single reference to “health insurance”, so, I’m pretty sure it’s a right reserved to Me.
Fact: If a person doesn’t pay the Health Care Mandate Penalty, it is withheld from their Income Tax Refund.
But, what happens if there is no Income Tax to Refund? And what if the millions of small businesses in this country STOPPED WITHOLDING employees income taxes? I am thinking I might simply put the money into escrow, and give it to the employees to pay. Yes, it is a violation of Federal Law, but Obamacare is a violation of the Constitution, and everyone knows it.
If tens of thousands of small businesses do this, if millions of businesses do this, I don’t think there would be enough jail space for us all, or enough courts and judges to prosecute. And Obamacare suffocates from lack of oxygen.
The left befouls public parks so they can smoke some Ganja, and fiddle around with some Civil Disobedience. Remember “Occupy Wall Street”? It was an adolescent stunt played by trust-funders and other assorted malcontents. I suggest Small Business Owners just simply stop being the IRS’s middleman.
Stop Witholding. And Occupy the IRS.
