Newt Gingrich Is a Teenager’s James Dean.

When it comes to Gingrich, I don’t think he’s going to be the nominee. Admittedly, it’s possible, but I see it as a pretty long shot. Personally, I think he’d be much better in a cabinet position, say Secretary of State. Arrogant as he might be, he does have a vast depth of knowledge and considering the situation we’re in, it’s not something we should let go to waste.

Even so, it would be interesting to see a debate between him and Obama. Gingrich would chew him up and spit him out.

I am sorry to be abrupt and rude but time grows short. You are doubtless a nice person with good intentions but your title makes no sense and your comments are inchoate.

Your worst sin is misrepresenting what Gingrich said regarding the Holy Father Paul Ryan about whom apparently no one shall speak a discouraging word. Gingrich never said Ryan’s precious budget is social engineering.

Back in October I deconstructed that tempest in a tea kettle:

“The vital context here are the exact words David Gregory used in his question and to which Gingrich was responding:

“Do you think Republicans ought to buck the public opposition and really move forward to completely change Medicare?”

I suspect Gregory was setting a trap here that Gingrich recognized and side stepped nicely. The trap was in the words “buck the public opposition”. Remember that one of the Republicans’ chief complaints about Obamacare was/is that it was passed in spite of major “public opposition”. Newt, realizing he was being baited, responded by saying in effect “No, we should build public support for our policies instead of just ramming them through”.

When considered calmly, logically, and rationally, Gingrich’s comment was actually quite conservative and in keeping with the cornerstone idea of our republic that “the people” outrank the government and that our leaders need to follow the will of the people.”

It’s probably fair to say you’re either an elitist with an attitude for those who disagree with progressives like Newt, or you’re a brit who likes taking on something he has no idea what he’s talking about.

Time and time again I have been hounded by GingrichLovers trying to explain away all of his faults… but even should I have been wrong and my title been completely wrong and full of idiocy you cannot argue Gingrich is a progressive–hell, he’s even said he is a progressive. My comments circulated Newt and Newt’s statements: that’s not ill-formed, it’s all well-formed.

As for your ‘your title makes no sense.’ Perhaps you misunderstood my intention. From my understanding, and believe me I try to keep it pretty brief because I am not a teenage girl, James Dean was like today’s Justin Bieber. Therefore, there was a large following of him.. almost like a cult. Girls would follow him around and go crazy at the sight of him. That’s my point. The same is happening with Gingrich, and all his faults are overlooked.

I’m not going to debunk the Ryan point, because even if it was actually what you’re talking about he said it completely wrong and just made a Democratic talking point. That’s just fact. If he had said something like “I don’t believe it is a good idea to implement a plan and pass it without speaking to the American people about it first” he probably would have been alright. But he didn’t. Personally, I’m willing to take a real conservative and not a progressive — whether it be Perry or whoever — and especially a person who doesn’t make those statements.

It far exceeds any gaffe Perry has made.
