The Global Warming Fraud; Politics Above Truth

Most people, including the fifth columnists in Washington D.C., know that Global Warming is bunk.  It is not even junk science.  It is a pack lies designed to tear down the United States and remake it into a police state; void of any individual liberty or economic prosperity.

Why do some people think the planet is warming because of air conditioners and bar-b-q grills, without a shred of credible evidence?  David Deming author of Death of a Civilization, provides some insight in his post Global Warming Is a Fraud, posted at Lew Rockwell dot com.

One reason is that the temperature data from weather stations appear to be hopelessly contaminated by urban heat effects. A survey of the 1221 temperature stations in the US by meteorologist Anthony Watts and his colleagues is now more than 80 percent complete. The magnitude of putative global warming over the last 150 years is about 0.7 °C. But only 9 percent of meteorological stations in the US are likely to have temperature errors lower than 1 °C. More than two-thirds of temperature sensors used to estimate global warming are located near artificial heating sources such as air conditioning vents, asphalt paving, or buildings. These sources are likely to introduce artifacts greater than 2 °C into the temperature record.

To validate their idiotic claims, eco-Nazi’s cook their data in a manner some Wall Street financial firms would be envious of.

Another cause of global warming hysteria is the infiltration of science by ideological zealots who place politics above truth. Earlier this month, the Obama administration issued a report that concluded global warming would have a number of deleterious effects on the US. In 1995, one of the lead authors of this report told me that we had to alter the historical temperature record by “getting rid” of the Medieval Warm Period.

Deming goes on to provide an anecdotal history lesson of climate change hysteria that dates back to the early 1900′s.

If we had an appreciation for history, we would not be fooled so easily. It has all happened before, albeit on a smaller scale in an age where people had more common sense. On May 19, 1912, the Washington Post posed these questions: “Is the climate of the world changing? Is it becoming warmer in the polar regions?” On November 2, 1922, the Associated Press reported that “the Arctic Ocean is warming up, icebergs are growing scarcer and in some places the seals are finding the waters too hot.” On February 25, 1923, the New York Times concluded that “the Arctic appears to be warming up.” On December 21, 1930, the Times noted that “Alpine glaciers are in full retreat.” A few months later the New York Times concluded that there was “a radical change in climatic conditions and hitherto unheard of warmth” in Greenland. About the only thing that has changed at the Times since 1930 is that no one working there today is literate enough to use the word “hitherto.”

He ends his post with an appropriate quote from H.L. Mencken, “the whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed by an endless series of hobgoblins, most of them imaginary.”

I’ll end only with,

God help us!

David Letterman caught in a lie!

Not only is David Letterman not funny, he is also a liar.  In response to advertisers pulling their advertising from his show, Letterman issued an apology for a joke he made last week about the statutory rape of Sarah Palin’s 14 year old daughter, Willow.

From the Live Feed dot com:

“All right, here – I’ve been thinking about this situation with Governor Palin and her family now for about a week – it was a week ago tonight, and maybe you know about it, maybe you don’t know about it.  But there was a joke that I told, and I thought I was telling it about the older daughter being at Yankee Stadium. And it was kind of a coarse joke. There’s no getting around it, but I never thought it was anybody other than the older daughter, and before the show, I checked to make sure in fact that she is of legal age, 18.

Above Letterman tried to justify his attack by saying that he thought she was at the game with her 18 year old daughter Bristol.  He goes on to say:

I had, honestly, no idea that the 14-year-old girl, I had no idea that anybody was at the ball game except the governor and I was told at the time she was there with Rudy Giuliani

First Letterman thought the governor was at the game with her 18 year old daughter.  Then he says he thought she was at the game with just Rudy Giuliani.  If Letterman really believed the latter statement, on whom did he check to make sure was of legal age, Giulliani?

Letterman’s apology is as pathetic as his show.  The only reason he is making any type of statement is because his show is being threatened with the loss of advertising revenue.

God help us!

Holocaust Museum shooter hates Christians

the Bible, American capitalism, and Jews.  James von Brunn, the man who shot and killed a guard at the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., also advocates Hitler style socialism and uses his deep faith in Darwinism to justify his hatred of Jews.

WorldNetDaily has a compilation of many of von Brunn’s posts on anti-religion websites.  Among posts that were scrubbed from anti-religion sites, von Brunn refers to Judaism as “the Holocaust Religion” and calls Christianity and Judaism “Hoaxes”.

The article references comments by Kathy Shaidle, a writer at the Examiner dot com, which include:

“The anti-Semitism of von Brunn is the first thing one notices when visiting these bizarre websites. However, like those of most ‘white supremacists,’ many of von Brunn’s political views track ‘Left’ rather than ‘Right.’ Clearly, a re-evaluation of these obsolete definitions is long overdue,” she wrote.

Von Brunn, for example, hated both President George H.W. Bush as well as George W. Bush, and the writer confirmed his posting “reveals a hatred of, say, big corporations that is virtually indistinguishable from that of anti-globalization activists.”

Shaidle finds the timing interesting between von Brunn’s murderous rage and antisemitic comments made by, pastor, friend, confidant, and mentor to Barack Hussein Obama, Reverend Jeremiah Wright.

That this shooting occurred shortly after President Obama’s former mentor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright, blamed ‘the Jews’ for his lack of access to his former parishioner is a troubling confluence of events as well,”

A critical look at von Brunn’s beliefs put him in lock step with the American left and little or nothing in common with conservatives or Libertarians.

Contessa Brewer, “a common sense thinker”?

The lunatic left’s obsession with Sarah Palin seems to be never ending.  MSNBC anchorette, Contessa Brewer, interviewed California, talk show host, John Ziegler regarding an interview he did with Palin and her reaction, or lack of a reaction, regarding disparaging comments Letterman man towards Palin and her teenage daughter.

Brewer considers herself a common sense thinker and asks why Palin would get upset about Letterman’s comments.  Letterman referred to Palin as sleazy and said her daughter got knocked up by Yankee’s third baseman Alex Rodriguez during a Yankee game.

If you watch Ziegler’s interview with Palin, she said that Letterman was pathetic but didn’t seem to be affected by his comments.  You can watch the interview here.  If you don’t want to listen to the entire interview, the Letterman discussion begins around the 5:20 mark.

Contrast Palin’s reaction with that of Brewer’s during her interview with Ziegler.

Why would Brewer be insulted by Ziegler essentially calling her and her station a blatantly biased, mouthpiece for the left and the Obama Administration?

Canadian frost worst in recent memory

While Washington D.C. pushes business stifling, global warming legislation, cold temperatures blanket the globe.  Recent frosts on the prairies of middle and western Canada threaten the Canadian canola crop.

From Reuters:

Two overnight frosts last week have already resulted in some Saskatchewan farmers reseeding their canola, a Canadian variant of rapeseed, said Jim Bessel, senior agronomy specialist in the province for the industry group Canola Council.

Using liberal, eco-Marxist, logic if energy production and consumption increase global temperatures, which it doesn’t, shouldn’t America concentrate on producing and using more energy, thereby increasing carbon emissions and reversing the global cooling that is actually happening according to natural cycles?

In Manitoba, the frost is the worst in memory for its frequency and area covered, said Derwyn Hammond, the province’s senior agronomy specialist for the Canola Council.

Global warming is nothing but a dangerous fiction that is being used by American and European globalists that seek to punish the productive and control the masses.

The science is conclusive and not debatable, there is nothing humans can do to influence the weather.  Increases in carbon levels are a result of natural cycles of the Earth that won’t be increased by driving a Hummer or decreased by changing your light bulbs.

Unfortunately, the fifth column has a strangle hold on the nation, and we Americans handed it over to them.

“Global Warming is Baloney”…

reads signs posted above several Burger King restaurants in Tennessee.

The franchisee, Mirabile Investment Corporation (MIC), has been contacted by Burger King’s corporate offices, but is refusing to take the signs down.

J.J. McNelis, MIC’s marketing president. had this to say to an eco-lunatic / “reporter”:

Reporter: BK Corp issued a statement saying that ‘global warming is baloney’ wasn’t their view and that they had asked you to take them down. Is that your understanding of it?

McNelis: I can’t speak for them. I would think they would run from any form of controversy kinda like cockroaches when the lights get turned on. I’m not aware of any direction that they gave the franchisee and I don’t think they have the authority to do it. The franchisee can put on a sign whatever he wants.

Reporter: They’re saying that within the terms of the franchisee contract it says something along the lines that signs outside a restaurant can’t be used to express any political or religious views.

McNelis: Well, it maybe a religious belief for some folks, but it’s certainly not for the franchisee here and I don’t think that it’s necessarily political either. But I have to tell you that I don’t read the franchise agreement with regularity or else I would have a bad case of insomnia.

Reporter: BK Corp are saying that they’ve demanded that these signs get taken down and that they have now been taken down…

McNelis: Burger King can tell me to use my left hand when I scratch my nose instead of my right but that doesn’t mean I’m going to use my right. They can say whatever they want. The management team can put the message up there if they want to. It is private property and over here in the US we do have some rights, not withstanding a franchise agreement that I could load a Brinks vehicle with I’ve got so many of them. By the time the BK lawyers work out how to make that stick we’d be in the year 2020. I don’t think the franchisees are particularly concerned about that. BK can bluster all they want about what they can tell the franchisee to do but we have free speech rights in this country so I don’t think there’s any concerns. Don’t come away from this conversation with the impression that the franchisee did anything because the BK Corporation told him he had to. They’re only printed words on paper. The contract is only as strong as the ability to enforce it. Some things can be enforced, other things can’t. I know BK would like to have you believe they have the authority and the willingness to make us do all kinds of different things, but that’s not how the world works.

We have some free speech rights in this country Mr. McNeils, for now.  However, the fifth column is firmly in charge.  Don’t be surprised if that “changes” soon.

Trouble in paradise?

Are even liberals disconcerted with state of America?  An article critical of Obama, and his extravagant escapades, comes from an unlikely source, the Huffintgon Post.

Lionel Beehner writes in Bad Timing for a Broadway Show:

At least when George W. Bush goofed off, he was seen busily clearing brush or running on a treadmill. His successor takes in a fancy West Village meal followed by a Broadway show. There is nothing wrong with a night on the town now and then but Obama seems to be taking more than his fair share. Here he is hamming it up with reporters (“my base”) at a black-tie event. There he is appearing topless and Matthew McConaughey-like on a magazine cover. The Oval Office seems like a day at the beach.

Perhaps Obama is not the person America wants to take that 3:00 am call.

The 3 a.m. phone calls that concern me most are the ones Obama makes as he phones in his presidential duties, which apparently include tapping his top campaign fundraisers to fill lush embassy posts in London and Paris, the kind of coveted spots lifelong diplomats with, you know, actual training, would die for. I would love to see how much the presidential couple’s romantic night out in New York, replete with security detail, advance team preparation, police escort, etc., cost American taxpayers (I hope there’s a FOIA out there requesting those figures). Why can’t Americans summon the same outrage over government waste as Brits?

The trouble is, buoyed by a gaga media, Obama sees his position in presidential history as, to borrow an apt but overused sports metaphor, a “slam dunk.” North Korea is threatening to nuke its neighbors, yet the U.S. State Department has not even confirmed its top analyst on East Asia. Pakistan is coming unraveled, yet Obama’s solution is to repackage the same medicine of his hawkish predecessor: send more troops, then slap a bureaucratic name on it like Af-Pak, which sounds like a bad insurance slogan.

His plan for peace in the Middle East doesn’t look that great anymore either.

His solution for Middle East peace? To regurgitate his own mixed background. Obama’s bio, however inspiring, is beginning to sound a lot like John Edwards’ tear-jerky speech about his coalminer dad. Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately), this kind of pap does not play as well in the Middle East. To quote Iran’s parliamentary speaker, Ali Larijani: “Our problem with America is not emotional.” Muslims I spoke to on a recent visit to the Middle East appreciate Obama’s moving story, his rhetoric of unity, but that does not make up for the fact that Washington is still in bed with Israel, something that will always imperil our ability to broker peace in the region.

Maybe Bush wasn’t so bad after all?  I’m still not sure about McCain though.

This is tax reform?

From the Washington Post:

“There is a growing awareness of the need for fundamental tax reform,” Sen. Kent Conrad (D-N.D.) said in an interview. “I think a VAT and a high-end income tax have got to be on the table.”

With income tax “revenues” plummeting 34% in April of 2009 compared to April of 2008 the parasites in Washington are looking for another way to extort from the industrious.

Instead of getting rid of the welfare state, stopping the funding of the United Nations, and eliminating mindless squandering, the looters in Washingon D.C., never letting a good crisis go to waste, are considering and national sales tax.

At a White House conference earlier this year on the government’s budget problems, a roomful of tax experts pleaded with Treasury Secretary Timothy F. Geithner to consider a VAT. A recent flurry of books and papers on the subject is attracting genuine, if furtive, interest in Congress. And last month, after wrestling with the White House over the massive deficits projected under Obama’s policies, the chairman of the Senate Budget Committee
declared that a VAT should be part of the debate.

The national sales or “Value Added Tax” would not replace the punitive, egregious, and incomprehensible income tax code. No, instead, it would be levied on top of the income tax. Early estimates put the tax anywhere from 10% to 25%.

A VAT is a tax on the transfer of goods and services that ultimately is borne by the consumer. Highly visible, it would increase the cost of just about everything, from a carton of eggs to a visit with a lawyer. It is also hugely regressive, falling heavily on the poor. But VAT advocates say those negatives could be offset by using the proceeds to pay for health care for every American — a tangible benefit that would be highly valuable to low-income families.

The VAT would raise the cost of everything bought and sold in America by an amount compenserate to the amount of the tax.

Although a white house official says that it is unlikely that a VAT would be looked to for funding ObamaCare, it is hard to rule out. Especially, considering that Michigan’s governor and architect of a one state depression, Jennifer Granholm along with Ezekiel Emanuel, brother of White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, are among the president’s economic advisers.

One compelling argument for levying a VAT is, everyone else is doing it.

Exactly what “Value” would a VAT provide and to whom?

God help us!

Specter panders to Pelosi

New(?) democrat, Arlen Specter, came to house speaker Nancy Pelosi’s defense in an address given to the American Law Institute today.

Specter questioned the CIA’s honesty and lauded Pelosi for being “reliable and very able”.

From TheHill dot com:

“The CIA has a very bad record when it comes to — I was about to say ‘candid’; that’s too mild — to honesty,” Specter, a former chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said in a lunch address to the American Law Institute. He cited misleading information about the agency’s involvement in mining harbors in Nicaragua and the Iran-Contra affair.

The article later moves to Specter’s involvment on the Senate Judiciary Committee and credits his questioning of Reagan appointee, Robert Bork, with derailing his nomination.  Anthony Kennedy was later confirmed in place of Bork.

Specter has been involved in every Supreme Court nomination fight since being elected to the Senate in 1980. His questioning of Robert Bork is credited with helping take down President Reagan’s nominee in 1987, and he played a key role in questioning Anita Hill during Justice Clarence Thomas’s confirmation hearings in 1991.

I can’t help but wondering how different the Supreme Court, its decesions, and our country would look had Bork been confirmed instead of Kennedy.

Congratulations Specter, defending Pelosi, disparaging the CIA, and destroying Bork’s nomination are wonderful achievments.

LA striving to become greenest city

The city of Los Angeles is leading the way in energy conservation by wasting electricity and tax dollars.

From nbclosangeles dot com:

In some areas, the city has been leaving streetlights on all day long, needlessly burning electricity in broad daylight. Even worse, residents tell us they’ve been calling the city’s 311 line for months, asking the city to turn off the lights during the day, all to no avail.

Like good liberals, the city tells its citizens to do one thing while it does the exact opposite.

Los Angeles urges its citizens to to turn off their lights at home whenever they’re not needed. But city officials had a hard time explaining why they have been leaving their streetlights on during the day when they’re not needed.

When confronted by NBC, LA’s head of the Bureau of Street Lighting, pointed the finger at anyone he could think of, from the Department of Water and Power, to the contractor that upgraded the lighting system, finally resting the blame on the evil, for profit, streetlight manufacturer, Sequoia Lighting.

I wonder how long before Sequoia Lighting is taken over by the government?

This story encourages me, however. For the last few years I have been striving to become a carbon neutral bowler. I have sought to lead the way for other conservationist bowlers by leaving my black, H2 running while I bowl. It is cold here in the People’s Republic of Michigan. So I leave my Hummer on for the three hours I’m inside bowling. I’m just trying to do my part.

Change? Nevada Governor lashes out at president

Perhaps now is not the time to “set aside childish things”?  The “change” president is unwilling to meet with Nevada’s Governor Jim Gibbons (R).

The president has denied Gibbons’s request for a meeting on Nevada’s sluggish tourism industry during his visit to the state for fund raiser for Harry Reid.

From the Las Vegas Sun:

The governor had sent the president a letter last month saying he wanted to discuss the economic difficulties facing the state’s tourism industry. Gibbons said today that he was notified Obama won’t meet with him while the president is in Las Vegas on May 26 for a fundraiser for Sen. Harry Reid.

“I am disappointed at the hypocrisy shown by this administration,” Gibbons said in a prepared statement. “President Obama is coming to Las Vegas later this month for a political fundraiser, but he will not help the struggling families in Las Vegas and Nevada who are out of work because of his reckless comments.”

The “reckless comments” the governor is referring to were made by the president earlier this year when he criticized companies that received federal money for planning business trips to Las Vegas.

“This is politics, pure and simple, President Obama stood for change, but all he has done is brought negative economic change to Nevada,” Gibbons said.

Governor, get used to it. This is what 63 million Americans voted for.

FYI: Obama received Nevada’s five electoral votes in 2008.

Don’t spit in my face…

and tell me it’s raining, goes the old adage.  But that’s exactly what vice president Biden and the Obama administration are doing to Americans.

In his first quarterly, report on the “stimulus plan”, Joe Biden makes some outrageous claims that are better classified as outright lies.

From the AP:

In his first quarterly report on the nation’s stimulus package, Vice President Joe Biden uses anecdotes to paint a glowing picture of an economy on the rebound. In reality, the picture is incomplete and the colors far more muted.

It is not disputed that Washington is spending historic amounts of money at a rate far faster than normal. Workers are getting tax breaks, Washington is picking up a greater share of state Medicaid costs and road construction projects are beginning.

Workers are getting tax breaks – really? I work everyday, 50 hours a week, I haven’t received a tax break.

To believe any of the claims made in this report would require more than a “suspension of disbelief”, it would require a suspension of cerebral activity.

Based on 567,000 tax returns claiming the $8,000 tax credit, which is really a loan that has to be repaid, Biden claims that the stimulus is “driving increased activity in the home sales market”.  These are tax returns from the calendar year 2008, the Obama stimulus wasn’t enacted until 2009.  Further,

The report cites anecdotes from a New Orleans business journal to back up the claim…

Since February, sales of existing homes have fallen 3 percent and new home sales are down .6 percent.

Other claims by in the report are even more hard to stomach. Consider the claim that the administration has created or saved 150,000 jobs in the first quarter. This, in spite of the report acknowledging that, since February, the country lost 1.3 million jobs. How does the report reconcile these figures?

The argument is that the job numbers would have been even worse had it not been for the stimulus, and the difference between those numbers is a net positive.

The story concludes with a statement that “Spending money will put people to work.”. Not any spending, especially government spending. Only private sector investment will put people to work.

Again, Biden and the Obama administration resort to lies, caper, word games, obfuscation, and subterfuge, to fake out the economically illiterate.

God help us!

Obama Attacks Cheerios!

Attacking the auto, insurance, investment, and banking industries just isn’t enough for the Obama administration.  Now Obama has sicked the FDA on General Mills over its claims about the popular breakfast cereal Cheerios.

From wcbstv dot com, hat tip Drudge Report:

According to a letter from the FDA General Mills’ advertising violates the federal Food, Drug and Cosmetic Act. The agency said claims that Cheerios ingredients can lower cholesterol within a certain amount of time, all while providing cancer-fighting and heart-healthy benefits, essentially makes Cheerios “a drug” by their definition. And no drug in this country can be legally marketed without an approved new drug application.

Unfortunately, nothing in this country can be produced, marketed, and sold without the approval of the federal government.

People CBS 2 HD spoke to say this dispute over the cereal’s health claims won’t change how often they buy or eat Cheerios.

“Mostly ’cause kids eat them, they’re fun, round, they’re easy to eat,” said Jennifer Wood of the Upper East Side.

In addition to a warning letter sent to General Mills, accusing them of making unauthorized claims about Cheerios, the FDA has given the cereal maker 15 days to explain how it will correct the claims.  This explanation period reminds me of a few other companies the administration gave a time line too.  Using General Motors and Chrysler as a guide, the 15 day time frame probably reads, do what the administration says or they will take over the company.

Jesse Jackson rallies auto workers

Jesse Jackson led a bus rally today in Michigan.  The “Keep It Made in America” tour made stops in Hamtramck, Dearborn, Sterling Heights and Pontiac and is supposed to bring awareness to the plight of the American auto industry and its workers.

From detnews dot com:

The Rev. Jesse Jackson led a crowd of about 200 supporters with chants including “Reinvest in our land” and “Keep hope alive” in Hamtramck. He was joined at the rally by celebrities and several elected officials, including Sen. Debbie Stabenow, D-Mich.

Stabenow, never letting a good crisis go to waste, likened the current state of affairs in Michigan to Hurricane Katrina.

Stabenow advocated for health care changes and free trade. She likened the area’s woes with New Orleans, post Hurricane Katrina.

“The water has seeped in every home. We are here to say, ‘We will not go under,’ ” Stabenow said. “”We need to make sure our companies that are competing with other countries know their country is with them.”

Senator Stabenow is advocating for fee trade?  This is the free market at work.  American auto companies can no longer make and sell cars in America at a profit.  The market, no matter what the political geniuses do to manipulate it, is getting what it wants, lower labor and automobile prices.  Unfortunately, that means the party is over for in-efficient companies.  No longer can American auto companies pay nearly double the price of labor than its foreign competitors and stay solvent.

Also, free trade is exactly what allows companies to produce products over seas and import them to America.

Not to be deterred by market forces, Warren Mayor, Jim Fouts:

issued an executive order that requires his appointees to buy American-made when they purchase their next vehicle. Now, he’s negotiating with the city’s employee unions to include a “buy American provision” in the union contracts for the upcoming year.

If he succeeds, the order would apply to approximately 800 full-time city employees. The current employee contracts expire in June.

“It’s a priority and a must. If something happened to General Motors or Chrysler, I would not be able to pay the high salaries I pay now or keep everyone employed,” he said. “I am developing a strategy for expanding my campaign. I would like to see other county officials and school officials embrace the same thing.”

If employees want to retain their jobs, they must buy American-made cars.

This is just what Detroit and America needs, another attempt by an economic illiterate to stop hemorrhaging with a band-aide.

NYC to charge homeless for shelter

From NbcNewYork dot com: NYC Starts Charging Rent at Homeless Shelters

City officials this month began charging rent to working families staying in public homeless shelters.

The policy stems from a 1997 state law that hasn’t been enforced until now. Under that law, shelter managers started to require families to pay a portion of their income, depending on the shelter and family size, according to The New York Times. Residents could be expected to pay up to half their earnings.

Some shelter residents, such as Vanessa Dacosta, are not happy about having to pay for their own shelter.

“It’s not right,” Dacosta told the Times. “I pay my baby sitter, I buy diapers, and I’m trying to save money so I can get out of here. I don’t want to be in the shelter forever.”

At least one New Yorker, the city’s commissioner of homeless services, feels that some families aren’t paying their fair share.

“I think it’s hard to argue that families that can contribute to their shelter cost shouldn’t,” Robert Hess, the city’s commissioner of homeless services, told the Times. “I don’t see this playing out in an adverse way. Our objective is not for families to remain in shelter. Our objective is to move families back into their own homes and into the community.”

The good news is that next week president Obama will be conducting town hall meetings.  New York’s homeless should get tickets and ask Obama to pay their rent.  It appeared to work last time.

Oklahoma asserts sovereignty

Following the lead of Texas and Montana, the Oklahoma State Legislature, over road, the governor’s veto and passed a resolution claiming the state’s sovereignty.

From NewsOk:

The House passed the measure 73-22. It now goes to the Senate.

“We’re going to get it done one way or the other,” said the resolutions’ author, Rep. Charles Key, R-Oklahoma City.

“I think our governor is out of step.”

Almost on cue, Oklahoma House Democrats opposed the measure.

House Democrats objected, saying the issue already had been taken up and had been vetoed, but House Speaker Pro Tempore Kris Steele, R-Shawnee, ruled the veto is not final action.

Key said he expects HCR 1028 will pass in the Senate. HJR 1003 earlier passed the House 83-18 and won approval in the Senate 29-18.

If the resolution passes the state senate, which it is likely to do, it will be sent to President Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress.  Rep. Charles Key, R-Oklahoma City said:

many federal laws violate the 10th Amendment, which says powers not delegated to the U.S. government “are reserved to the states respectively, or to the people.” The Constitution lists about 20 duties required of the U.S. government, he said.

Congress should not be providing bailouts to financial institutions and automakers, he said.

“We give all this money to all these different entities, including automakers, and now they’re talking about, ‘Well maybe it’s better to let them go bankrupt,’” Key said. “Well, maybe we should have let them go bankrupt before we gave them the money.”

Perhaps other states will follow the lead and help stop or reverse the federal government’s never-ending encroachment on state and individual rights.

Beware of “our deteriorating atmosphere”

Global Warming will now be referred to as “our deteriorating atmosphere”. Environmentalists are afraid that the problem with global warming is not that it is based on junk science and completely absurd on its face, but rather the phrase “global warming”.

From the New York Times:

The term turns people off, fostering images of shaggy-haired liberals, economic sacrifice and complex scientific disputes, according to extensive polling and focus group sessions conducted by ecoAmerica, a nonprofit environmental marketing and messaging firm in Washington.

Instead of grim warnings about global warming, the firm advises, talk about “our deteriorating atmosphere.” Drop discussions of carbon dioxide and bring up “moving away from the dirty fuels of the past.” Don’t confuse people with cap and trade; use terms like “cap and cash back” or “pollution reduction refund.”

Seeing that their asinine ruse is failing to gain traction with the American people, environmentalists are attempting to employ an old and proven tactic; lies, obfuscation and subterfuge through word games.

Ok, I’ll take the credit

If nobody wants to take credit for kicking Arlen Spector out of the Republican Party, I will, even though I’m not a Republican.

Kicking Spector so hard he’s wearing his behind for a hat and sending him to the enemy camp is a brilliant stratagem.  Working with the strategic precision of a HAZMAT team, the Republicans isolated, removed and exported a deadly infection that plagued the party for decades.  Instead of waiting for the quarantine of election defeat, they wrapped and neatly bundled this stubborn virus, and unleashed it upon the ranks of the enemy.  If it acts accordingly, the putrid fever that is Arlen Spector, will mutate into unknown strains, spread, infect and irreparably damage the Democrat party.

Once this virus has run its course, ending in a sound electoral defeat in 2010, Pennsylvania and the rest of America can convalesce.

Now, if only someone can come up with a vaccine or cure for Snowe, Collins, Hatch, and Graham the road to recovery would be exponentially smoother.  A cure for McCain may be coming in the near future.

A year ago I would probably would have laughed at the notion of another secession, but with small undertones coming out of the Republic of Texas maybe I should refrain from laughing.  Rumblings of session and asserting state’s rights can now be heard from Montana.

On April 15, 2009 Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer (D-not a mistake), signed a bill exempting Montana-made guns from federal regulation.  Schweitzer said:

“It’s a gun bill, but it’s another way of demonstrating the sovereignty of the state of Montana.”

Montana is also considering resolutions reaffirming state’s rights outlined in the Constitution and highlighted in the 10th Amendment.  It seems strange that a resolution would be needed when it is already the Law of the Land.

From Helenair dot com:

“The whole goal is to awaken the people so that we can return to a properly grounded republic,” Rep. Michael More, R-Gallatin Gateway and the Montana resolution’s sponsor, said at a House committee hearing Wednesday.

As many as fifteen other Legislatures have also been mulling resolutions that buck federal control in states such as New Hampshire, South Carolina, Missouri and Oklahoma.

Montana State Legislator Michael More went on to say:

The balance has swung far to the extreme to the empowerment of the federal government, and to the harm of the individual states,”

That’s and understatement.  The Civil War and the passage of the 16th and 17th amendments have virtually emasculated the states and created one giant federal establishment with no limitations on its reach and power.  The federal bureaucracy has been running rough shod over the states, and more importantly, the individual, for nearly 100 years.  Maybe the threat of secession is the only thing that can restore the balance and separation of powers our founders envisioned and articulated in the Constitution.

Mahatma (‘Great Soul’) Gandhi once said,

“First they ignore you, then they laugh at you, then they fight you, then you win.”

Perhaps it’s time to stop laughing at the notion of secession.  Perhaps the fight, hopefully a non-violent one, is upon on us, victory is within reach, and God will once again shed his grace on America, truly the world’s last best hope.

God help us!

Small Victory for Second Amendment

The White House is abandoning a renewal of the 1994 assault weapon ban. The ban expired in 2004. Although Obama promised supporters he would seek to renew it, lack of support on both sides of the aisle, has pushed it to the back burner.

From MSNBC dot com:

Campaigning before a church congregation on Chicago’s South Side one Sunday in July 2007, Barack Obama said an epidemic of big city violence was “sickening the soul of this nation.”

Among the potential cures, he said, was permanently reinstating a ban on assault weapons.

The only thing gun laws do is prevent law abiding citizens from of protecting their persons and property from infringement. Thomas Jefferson summed up gun laws best when he said:

“Laws that forbid the carrying of arms..disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes. Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed one.”

Refreshingly, although supported by Eric Holder and Hillary Clinton, sixty-five house democrats informed the White House that they would actively oppose reinstating a ban on assault weapons. Additionally, senate majority leader Harry Reid, considers the ban “political poison”.

By the time President Obama made his trip to Mexico, he conceded the battle would be futile. “None of us are any illusion that reinstating that ban would be easy.”

“What we’re focused on is how we can improve our enforcement of existing laws,” he said.

Ironically, news of this victory for the Second Amendment, falls on the 94th anniversary of the Armenian/Forgotten Genocide. On April 24th, 1915, the Ottoman Turks began the extermination of 1.5 million Armenians living in Turkey. Not coincidentally, the genocide was preceded by draconian gun laws disarming the Armenians, rendering them helpless, and making them easy prey.

God help us!
