Not The ACORN He Knew

Over to you, Mark Kleiman

Obama & ACORNI’ll cover this in more detail in a few days in Part II of my series on the Integrity Gap between the two tickets, but as the evidence mounts+ of the involvement of the left-wing community organizer group Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) in extensive voter fraud across multiple states, Barack Obama has tried to minimize his involvement with ACORN and the critical role it played in his rise in the world of the Chicago political machine.

Obama’s “Fight the Smears” campaign website denies any ties to ACORN other than his representation of the group in a 1995 lawsuit:

Fact: Barack was never an ACORN community organizer.

Fact: Barack was never an ACORN trainer and never worked for ACORN in any other capacity.

Fact: ACORN was not part of Project Vote, the successful voter registration drive Barack ran in 1992.

As the Cleveland Leader points out, this is flatly contradicted by an article written by ACORN head Toni Foulkes, which was conveniently removed from the internet (a common practice in the drive to scrub all evidence of Obama’s career prior to 2004) after it was quoted by Stanley Kurtz of the National Review and other sources, while the rest of the articles on the same site remain up:

Obama then went on to run a voter registration project with Project VOTE in 1992 that made it possible for Carol Moseley Braun to win the Senate that year. Project VOTE delivered 50,000 newly registered voters in that campaign (ACORN delivered about 5,000 of them).

Since then, we have invited Obama to our leadership training sessions to run the session on power every year, and, as a result, many of our newly developing leaders got to know him before he ever ran for office. Thus it was natural for many of us to be active volunteers in his first campaign for STate Senate and then his failed bid for U.S. Congress in 1996. By the time he ran for U.S. Senate, we were old friends.”

This stuff has been out there in plain sight, yet still Obama denies it:

As recently as March 2008, the Los Angeles Times also made reference to Barack Obama’s involvement with ACORN:

“At the time, Talbot worked at the social action group ACORN and initially considered Obama a competitor. But she became so impressed with his work that she invited him to help train her staff.” (LA Times, March 2, 2008)

It was also reported contemporaneously by the left-wing Chicago press:

A 1995 Chicago Reader article on Obama stated “Obama continues his work largely through classes for future leaders identified by ACORN and the Centers for New Horizons.”

During the 2008 Democrat primary, the Obama campaign paid Citizen Services Inc., a subsidiary of ACORN, more than $800,000, a payment that Obama’s campaign somehow managed to misreport to the FEC

As of yet, we can only speculate about why Obama is lying about his involvement with ACORN, what other aspects of that relationship he has failed to disclose, and what other things have been conveniently “disappeared” from his Chicago past.

The Obamessiah says it is so, and so it is so.

Why are people digging through dumpsters in Wasilla when this crap is right on the ground.

I am trying to be rational, and I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I am really starting to feel paranoid that this guy is untouchable. No one in the MSM will investigate this sh*t. I am getting madder by the day!

  • izoneguy
  • bags64

Really sort of scary the number of past associations he has to separate himself from, isn’t it?

  • CroakerNorge

There is now so much dirt swirling around Obama that even the MSM must pay attention. It can’t be ignored.

ACORN is in the news, and not just on Fox. Obama’s association with ACORN is a known fact. Maybe not the extent of his association, but certainly the connection is obvious. The extent of the association is starting to break through, as well

Obama’s recent admission that he thought that Ayers had been rehabilitated means that he lied, and this time, he admitted lying (unlike his continuing lie that he did not hear Jeremiah Wright make racist comments sitting in the pew for 20 years).

ACORN, Ayers, Wright, Raines, Fannie Mae, lies. McCain or the Repbublicans have to hit hard.

    • conscriptor

indeed. obama is starting to blow it wide open! 350? 400 EV’s. Ayers has been a gift to his campaign.

  • mywrite

Really! Barackus O’Bamus really seem to be doing a spin on the folks of this country and I for one am wondering why is he being allowed to get by with all that baggage? Why? Baggage that will be detrimental to this great land of ours. John McCain has roughly three weeks to straighten up and fly right because we are all going to hell in a handbasket along with the ‘That One’. As for me I am not a lemming and I do not intend to follow Barackus Obamus, the Pied Piper. You all know the story of the Pied Piper of Hamlin right??? Barack Obama does not have a plan for anything and it’s all a bunch of talk because he is the great debater and a great debater without integrity and good judgement does not a great leader make. Too many secrets, too many lies where ‘That One’ is concerned and so my question is “Is he or is he not?” And, that’s my write/right!**

Ps. For you left wing lemmings reading this, please when you do your GED English Paper, do not start your sentences with ‘and’, it’s a conjunction!

  • TxCon

the GOP is scared to death of being labeled racist so I don’t think they will attack him on this like they should.

  • ListKeeper

At a rally in Indianapolis yesterday he said in a remark about Evan Bayh coming from a good lib family that “The ACORN doesn’t fall far from the tree.” What a telling comment that was!

Must keep repeating to all “facts” about That One. All answers start with a simple challenge that leads down the path of honest inquiru and truth.

The simple challenge is – Demonstrate how That One is not a classic Post Turtle.

Really guys! How did That One get here? Who is his “Edgar Bergen?”

          • QueenOfCups

Whoa! On CNN, too! They actually reported the $800,000 contribution from Obama’s campaign. Also the fact that he sued for the motor voter registration on behalf of ACORN. So this is part of his civil rights attorney gig?

Hmmm, wonder how the Clinons are feeling with this coming out? Bet they are on fire for Obama, now!

  • Omotayo

I am surprised that senator john Mcain and the American people have allowed this ridiculous soap opera to go on for far too long. in my opinion the race would have been a no-contest a long time ago if the mcain people had not listened to the media and their ?experts?, and had focussed on the most important issue a lot of people have overlooked. if the mcain people had focussed on character vis a viz Senator Obama, I bet he would have been exposed a long time ago for the fraud that he is.
Character goes to the heart of everything, be it the dire economic situation, terrorism, patriotism et al. The problem on wall street is a result of the deficiency in character of the major players in wall street and Washington..Obama in my opinion is a sitting duck when it comes to issues on character. he has a busload of indiscretions that are already in the public domain. They can be used to good effect to put the benefit of doubt in the mind of voters. i am not referring to incoherent personal attacks but a more articulate and sustained discourse on his bad judgement in the past that could cost the American people dearly if elected president.

One such indiscretion is his association with that radical pastor of his. This is a relationship that dates back many years. For his pastor to have uttered such nonsense after the attacks of September 11 it must follow that he harbours such resentment towards America. that statement must not be treated in isolation as a moment of passion or madness by the pastor, because it goes into the core of his mindset and belief. By my understanding, that statement is not a recent one. It was made a long time ago even before obama thought of running for president. This goes to the heart of Obama?s judgement. I am at a loss as to why he did not denounce the pastor then ( if he did not share such a belief ) when it was not politically expedient to do so?? why denounce the pastor now when it is politically expedient to do so?? Obama cannot tell me that he was not 1) aware of the pastors comments 2) aware of the pastors beliefs 3) aware of the pastors political leanings?? This is a Pastor he respects and a church he regularly attended.
The logical thing was to severe ties with the pastor if he didn?t share the pastors toxic views long before it was politically expedient to do so. How many close friends, associates and relatives is Obama going to severe ties with because they hurt his inordinate ambition to become the first black president, how many? There is an old adage that says, show me who your friends and acquaintances are and I will show you who you truly are! Americans, dont be fooled by Obama, the media and his campaign people, that his actions are just mere indiscretions. THEY ARE NOT! They go to the heart of who he truly his. He is an opportunist, a calculating and dangerous person, who will deny past associations that hurt his inordinate ambition to make history..

Can someone please respond to this articleand the ACORN memo included?

Specifically can someone address the fact that ACORN (and all other voter registration organizations) is required by law to turn in voter registration cards that they believe or suspect are fraudulent?

          • Lammo

trust me. Now leaf me alone. :-)

          • NohOne

I am mad as hell and I am not going to take it any more. First they call us racist because we criticize O’s community organizing (the last time I was in Chicago, I was walking around down town thinking to myself “damn, this place is well organized”) because it does not give you real experience. He gives interviews and talks about his time as a community organizer, and how it made him a “leader.” Now he is saying he was never a community organizer?

Well, I am sick of it. If they want to call me a racist for comparing Obama to a white guy, call me a racist for comparing Obama to a black guy, call me a racist for criticizing his self-professed work as a community organizer, call me a racist for using his own words and calling him a community organizer, call me a racist for saying I don’t like his policies, call me a racist for saying I don’t like his association with Ayres, call me a racist for saying I don’t like his association with Wright, call me a racist for saying that I don’t like the bailout, call me a racist for criticizing Congress? And so on, and so on, and so on?

Well I guess then I am a racist. Tonight, after work, I am going out and getting white robes and a pointy white hat, because anything and everything I do, unless I am 100% behind O, worshiping him like the god that they say he is, willing to lay down my life for the communist country he is building, then I am a racist. And don’t be wrong, he is not building a socialist country like many say, but a communist one – with his attacks on media, sending out his Truth Squads (if you have a lawyer or cop showing up at your house to tell you you are wrong is exactly what they did in Russia).

And if all those things make me a racist, then I will stand on the corner of the busiest street here in downtown Seattle, wearing my white robes holding the biggest sign I can think of saying “I disagree with Obama, therefore I am a racist.” And I will do it proudly – I may only survive a few minutes, but I will do it proudly.
