Help Rob Simmons Dump Chris Dodd

A Senate Seat We Can Win

The reasons for wanting Chris Dodd gone from the Senate are too numerous to recount here; briefly speaking, Dodd has been wrong on basically every national security issue for the past three decades, he’s got ethical problems out the wazoo, and while he was in bed with anyone and everyone connected with the financial crisis, he spent a year living in Iowa on a delusional presidential campaign instead of doing his job overseeing the Senate Banking Commitee. Rob Simmons, a relatively moderate* former GOP Congressman, is the leading candidate to replace Dodd, and is doing a drive to get past 400 online donations (he’s pretty close already) by close of business today. Do your part.

* – I know moderates are in ill favor in some of these parts, but Simmons is precisely the kind of Republican who can win in a state like Connecticut. If we want our majority back, we will need some Rob Simmonses.

And (his full name should be used) CRAris GSE country-wide Dodd is more vulnerable than he has ever been.

Simmons may not be a Perfect “Conservative” vote, you seem to be admitting, but should hunker down with fellow Republicans as a Red-Dog rather than those like disreSpecter that dropped out in the most clear and clean cut time to have been with fellow Republicans…. Remember, the real Bi-Partisanship was AGAINST the Porkulus, as more Democrats (in the House) voted with Republicans against it than the (just 3) Republicans in the Senate – the unfortunate part, of course, was that the weight of the 3 way outweighed the weight of the Bi-Partisan support AGAINST the Stimulus in the House resulting in its passage…. but the point remains, the MSM distorted where the REAL Bi-Partisanship was – AGAINST the Stimulus. (don’t have that link handy)

Isn’t there a conservative state senator looking at this race.

We should support the man of principle rather than the establishment.

Frankly, anyone should be able to defeat Dodd while if the Democrats are smart and dump him – the Democrats probably keep the seat.

But the grassroots blindly followed the marching orders from on high is exactly what got the Republican party in mess that it is in now.

The party desperately needs new blood.

…in writing a diary on this hypothetical candidate, providing a link to his donation page, or even confirming for us that he exists and has a name.

How, precisely, did you think that your comment was helpful?

I just read one time about some state senator who may run.

I am not from the Northeast and don’t know enough to say who is the best candidate.

I’m just pointing out we need to carefully consider the candidates and not just go with the guys the Republican leadership is pushing.

The Republican leaders are terrible and still have no real concern over principles.

However, I did not bash Simmons like I did Crist earlier. I do know enough about Crist and Rubio to say let’s vote for Rubio.

And that Crist flat out is terrible idea. No way is Simmons as bad as Crist.

… in a Democratic district. And these are real Democrats in CT, not old conservative hold overs from the past.

To me, how someone votes and governs as compared to the people they represent is the real test. Sometimes you must lead. But sometimes you must represent the desires of your people. Simmons grades out well for CT as it is presently populated. Plus, he earned two bronze stars, which is always nice.

Plus, I need something to do in 2010.
