Joe Biden Doesn’t Know What’s In The Box But He Can’t Resist Opening It

The Gift That Keeps on Giving

Ah, what would we do without Joe Biden?

So will Obama fulfill his vow – announced amid great fanfare in an executive order on day two of his presidency – to close the facility by January 2010? “I think so,” Biden responded, according to Newsweek’s Holly Bailey.

So perhaps he will. Or perhaps not. We’ll see.

Biden continued: “But, look, what the president said is that this is going to be hard. It’s like opening Pandora’s Box. We don’t know what’s inside the box.”

He also said that “to the best of my knowledge” the number of prisoners “who are a real danger who are not able to returned or tried” has “not been established” by the Obama administration.

So he basically just confirmed his predecessor Dick Cheney’s analysis that the decision was taken “with little deliberation, and no plan”.

You know, we could just try not opening the box. That’s the problem with throwing away things that already work just to score PR points. What could go wrong? Only one way to find out, after all!

I hadn’t heard Wanda Sykes’ joke about Biden but it’s a keeper, and unlike most of her routine both funny and true:

“God forbid that Joe Biden falls into the hands of terrorists….We’re done. Oh, they won’t even have to torture him. All they have to do is go, ‘How’s it going, Joe?’”

Mary Katherine Ham suggests a Moynihan line Biden might want to keep handy. On a daily basis, in fact.

. I love a good laugh. When you have such an embarrassment representing the nation and second in line to the POTUS, I feel like yelling. But really I laugh because there is no other good option.

We have to keep up with this for at least 3 and a half year.

no other way to get through this.

is that Joe is significantly mmore honest than Obama, whether he means to be or not.

will have to dump Biden in 2012, no way he can get through a full campaign with SlowJoe

…Even fully serve out the first term.

Sometime after Nov. 2010 (I’d guess around X-Mas 2010), Biden will announce that someone in his family is ill, or he himself is ill, and as a result will have to resign the Vice Presidency.

Of course, the story will be a crock, and it will have been Obama that forced Biden out.

But I’d say the odds are better than even that Biden will be gone by 2011.

I wish I could laugh with you ,Antisocial, but Biden’s (and by extension Obama’s)gift for inept pronouncements and irresponsible decision-making are beyond comprehension and a very sad commentary on American statesmanship in the 21st century. Who else but these guys would recklessly commit the country to closing GITMO with no idea, no plan whatsoever for determining where the detainees would be sent? And who else but these guys would consider throwing open the doors of America’s expansive legal system of substantive and procedural due process to violent terrorists captured on the battlefield so that they have a very real possibility of being released and unleashed on the American public? Only in America could such buffoons achieve such high office and be handed the opportunity to do so much harm in so little time.

I would say, that it’s only in America that politicians would do that and actually think they are doing it for the greater good.

Statesmanship is almost dead. The difference between a statesman and a politician is that a statesman does what he believes right no matter what people think. A politician does things based on expediency for his reelection and power increase.

When will America get that it isn’t that complicated?

That the intellectual wannabes keep making it harder than it is.

no coincidence they made sure Biden was/is out of town for (which, still doesn’t really amount to a whole lot as it doesn’t CAP APR to an X + Prime formula) the Credit Card “for show” reformation Act. But that whole Extortion, pure and simple (to raise taxes or avoid legislation) is another story (that’s in Neil’s).

You can be sure they won’t let this guy anywhere near a Spelling-bee or School Blackboard. Whats his name had that spelling brain-fart, but Biden has a Brain to Mouth malfunction on a Daily basis.
