The Meaning of Jobs “Created,” Part II

Unicorns, Leprechauns and Jobs Created By the Stimulus

Somewhere in these 57 states, there exist Congressional Districts between sight and sound, in which Barack Obama is “creating jobs” that do not exist for constituents of Congresspersons who do not exist either, reports Jonathan Karl of ABC News:

Here’s a stimulus success story: In Arizona’s 9th Congressional District, 30 jobs have been saved or created with just $761,420 in federal stimulus spending. At least that’s what the website set up by the Obama Administration to track the $787 billion stimulus says.

There’s one problem, though: There is no 9th Congressional District in Arizona; the state has only eight Congressional Districts.

There’s no 86th Congressional District in Arizona either, but the government’s recovery.gov Web site says $34 million in stimulus money has been spent there.

In fact, Recovery.gov lists hundreds of millions spent and hundreds of jobs created in Congressional districts that don’t exist.

Read the whole thing (did you know the Northern Mariana Islands had 99 Congressional Districts? Neither did I.) (Background here)

I can’t wait for these guys to run the Census, can you?

This whole idea of estimating where the “stimulus” has created jobs is ridiculous. They are just estimates and could just easily be many times higher or lower. Total fabrication.

What is true is that $800bn is being spent on “stimulus” and the US has 10.2% unemployment (~16m people). A normal unemployment of 5% would mean 8m more people would have jobs.

Shouldn’t $800,000,000,000 be enough money to give 8m people jobs, if it was really designed to help boost the economy and not just buy votes? $800bn equates to a $50k/yr income for all of the people who are unemployed over the normal rate. Oh yeah, enough for them to have a job for TWO years.

They never stop to do the math. It’s far too complicated. They won’t bother to read the health care bill either.

Why would you expect more than a couple of reporters to fact-check recovery.gov? They’re probably all still up in Wasilla trying to figure out the *real* mother of Trig Palin.

So what – we spent more on the “stimulus” with one stroke of the pen than the entire time we were in Iraq. What’s the big whoop?

  • Wing Zero

I went to see how many state districts there were in AZ. There are only 30. I had hoped… hope… ha ha ha… that it was just sloppiness on the part of the government.

    I should have known better.

This means that Recovery.gov is just pulling numbers out of it’s you know what, or that they are receiving numbers from states and not fact checking them. Knowing what I know about how government works, probably both.

I’ve checked around the web but have been unable to find who actually runs Recovery.gov. Sounds like one of our intrepid and well connected directors needs to find out….

Make no mistake – everything this Administration and complicit Congress do, with their complicit and unlawful organizations such as ACORN, Apollo, Tides Foundation, etc. is geared toward the “remaking” of America

Take a read at the below article published yesterday in Newsweek (hardly a right-wing publication)

    November 16, 2009 – Newsweek
    Obama’s Malpractice
    By Robert Samuelson

The disconnect between what President Obama says and what he’s doing is so glaring that most people could not abide it. The president, his advisers and allies have no trouble. But reconciling blatantly contradictory objectives requires them to engage in willful self-deception, public dishonesty, or both.

Please, team up with great organizations like Heritage Foundation, Judicial Watch, National Center for Policy Analysis, the Cato Institute, Concerned Women for America, Citizens Against Government Waste, DownsizeDC.org and the like, to resist these lying, looting thugs until the next elections!! Then make sure everyone you know learns about these abuses and votes against them!! Thank you.

      ————————————————————————————————-
…in the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods. It would never come into their heads to fabricate colossal untruths, and they would not believe that others could have the impudence to distort the truth so infamously. Even though the facts which prove this to be so may be brought clearly to their minds, they will still doubt and waver and will continue to think that there may be some other explanation. For the grossly impudent lie always leaves traces behind it, even after it has been nailed down, a fact which is known to all expert liars in this world and to all who conspire together in the art of lying. These people know only too well how to use falsehood for the basest purposes…. Adolph Hitler Ch 10 Mein Kampf

I see most of the focus on fake jobs created in fake districts.

My question is. Where was that money actually spent? This may well be a false accounting of huge sums of taxpayer funds going into the hands of cronies that cannot be accounted for in an otherwise legal way.
Could we please follow the money on this one?
