So, here it is, the first signs that the Carville-let-health-reform-die-in-the-senate-and-blame-the-republicans-strategy is being pursued.
The quote is from a Politico article saying how the Democrats in the House are confident they will have the votes to pass their health care reform, after they make changes to the bill. (What else would the Democratic House leadership say?)
However, at the very end of the Politico article is the most important part:
“We’re not going to make our guys walk off the cliff without seeing what the hell the Senate does,” said one House Democratic leadership aide.
Hmmmm, if the House Leadership is serious about not sacrificing its own Members of Congress on the altar of Obamacare (which, frankly, remains to be seen) then the U.S. Senate just became ground zero.

The Carville "Blame the Republicans" strategy
izoneguy (Diary) Tuesday, September 1st at 2:51PM EDT (link)Should be embraced and whole heartly supported by all Republicans! I would love for the democrats to blame the Republicans for the defeat of Obama at “Healthloo”. That would really keep the “Townhall” fighting spirit alive in all conservatives and really put the wind at our back when the campaigns for 2010 begin!!!
Those who had once simpered: “I don’t want to destroy the rich, I only want to seize a little of their surplus to help the poor, just a little, they’ll never miss it!” – then, later, had snapped: “The tycoons can stand being squeezed; they’ve amassed enough to last them for three generations” – then, later, had yelled: “Why should the people suffer while businessmen have reserves to last a year?” – now were screaming: “Why should we starve while some people have reserves to last a week?” – Atlas Shrugged
Dittos. And, progress in Maricopa County in the PC ranks
ColdWarrior (Diary) Tuesday, September 1st at 3:29PM EDT (link)I just leaned today that we have had a relatively HUGE increase in the number of Republican Party precinct committeemen in Maricopa County since the November 2008 elections. At that time, we had 1,989 PCs in Maricopa County, with a quota of 6,231. We’ve increased that number, through the appointment process, by 434, increasing our total to 2,423. And I know of at least five more that are signing up this week.
And we’re just getting started.
Thank you.

This was just too much fun to read: Poor Markos, poor Reid
ColdWarrior (Diary) Tuesday, September 1st at 3:49PM EDT (link)“With 60 votes, the Democrats now own the chamber. Any failures are theirs alone.
But with Reid, there is always another reason for ineffectiveness, and the latest is that Democrats only have 58 senators, because Sens. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts and Robert Byrd of West Virginia are absent with illness.”
So sad. Read the whole thing here:

Memo to House Democrat Leadership aide:
The_Gadfly (Diary) Tuesday, September 1st at 4:16PM EDT (link)It’s too late. You already passed HR3200 when you thought the “We won!” bridge was real. The vote is on the record, and even though most politicians think 6 months is a lifetime, I rather suspect that this one is going to work the same way the midnight raises did up in Pennsylvania a few years back: seething anger that the professional politicos just couldn’t see coming until they woke up unemployed.
Of course, that doesn’t mean we aren’t going to encourage you to let it die in Senate.
