Marco Rubio addressed the Brevard County Executive Committee tonight

This guy is the real deal.

He got up at 3AM, drove up here, did a radio interview at 8AM, a fund raiser at noon, a TV interview in the afternoon, then a speech to the BREC at 7PM before driving back to Miami.

The speech to the BREC was amazing.  Having now heard him speak 3 time in the last 10 days, I was expecting it to be somewhat repetitious at this point.   But it wasn’t, he had different examples to give, and covered different topics.  My take away is that he really does hold these convictions as core beliefs.

One telling point tonight when he was taking questions and got into a discussion about our Cuban Asylum policy.  The gentleman asking the question began to argue his personal belief and the Chairman tried to cut him off.  Marco turned around and told the Chairman that he wanted to finish the discussion “because he is raising a valid point and deserves an answer”.

Marco received several standing ovations, and I overheard many people say, “This is the guy we need.”

I’m just amazed at what a good candidate he is.  I think EPU is going to be calling me a Marcohead soon. :)

Folks need to learn more about Rubio.

After seeing him in person in Atlanta and in the video clips, I have only grown in respect and hope that he will indeed be the next Senator from Florida.

I said bingo! because earlier today I commented in Moe’s dairy about Specter, that I “could never, ever picture Marco Rubio saying “I don’t have to be here” and “that he would stand and face the people whatever the issue.” Your report just reinforced that impression.

BTW, do you think we could come up a more flattering term than “Marcohead”?

But nothing catchy that rhymes with Marco came to mind :)

a Rubio to excite me here in VA. I am doing what I can for McDonnell but he is no Conservative….I want to be excited by someone who cares for the Constitution too :-)

He would get me out to the polls.

I was plugged into Fimian in 2008 and it looks like he is running again. The beauty of him is he has CASH :)

I am going to be putting some time in on his campaign, and your comment caught me by surprise. I know him as a social conservative. I would be glad for input.

there is no doubt he is 100 percent more Conservative then Deed’s so I am not talking him down with regards to the race but just to give you more information on him here is a site I like to read http://blueridgeforum.com/?p=352 I didn’t like alot of his take on illegal immigration I feel like he is PC about the issue so as not to offend hispanics but I NEVER think that any one group ought to be PC’d that illegal is illegal and if you are against it say so loudly and proudly!

Forewarned is forearmed. I do know him personally from the Tidewater area, and he is a strong social conservative. I’ll keep people posted as things go along.

My participation in politics has been in the Republican arena (and that very lightly). Now that I’m involved in the Conservative movement, I’ll be able to take more discerning looks. Nevertheless, this state was taken by Obama and has been trending blue/purple. I believe, at it’s core it is a conservative state. But then I thought North Carolina was too. And look how that has turned out.

Conservative sites would consider doing a moneybomb for Rubio. If they could do it sometime around the 12th of September when everyone is fired up at stopping the bill in Congress that would be huge for him and help him get his money he needs to get going for the next quarter. This of course requires you Dave to get them to do it for you and of course to use their contacts with other sites to commit to it as well :-) I have given 3 times to him even though it was my intent to save up and give the max right before the end of the year but I would be willing to give again in September if you get it going!

Marco Rubio has been very willing to put down both parties. He has said that the natural home of conservatives in the GOP, but that it does not have to be. I heard some of the interview the morning on the radio (you can get a podcast of it here, which was the 8am hour of Bill Mick Live.) and combined with Rubio’s speech at redstate in Atlanta, I am very impressed. I think I just may add a Rubio bumper sticker on my vehicles next to the FredThompson ones.

Last night in Palm Beach, the locals tied 65-65 on a measure to censure Gov. Crist on being a liberal. The best quote I read was:

Some people will say that Republicans should not be fighting Republicans,” Ledewitz said Wednesday. “In my mind, Charlie Crist is Democrat-like. He is Arlen Specter with a suntan.”

And earlier this month, Volusia county GOP did indeed succeed in passing a motion to censure Crist. Nice quote there was:

Volusia County REC member Sally Stewart wrote: “This is the first step toward taking back our government. We need counties throughout the state to send a message that we don’t like business as usual…. Our elected officials pander for our votes and when they gain office, turn their backs on us and do the bidding of the big-money lobbyists and special interests.”

Florida conservatives are not happy at being the state that crowned McCain in 2008. And at losing Florida to Obama. Getting true conservatives into power is key to losing these honors and turning back the liberal hordes.

Thanks Dave for the postings, especially the Atlanta videos. I encourage all conservatives to watch Rubio’s speech from Atlanta.

I listen to the interview yesterday, and thought it was great. I’d had some emails going back and forth with Bill Mick earlier in the week about Marco, so in the middle of the interview I sent Bill an email titled, “So NOW what do you think of Marco”. He immediately came replied that Marco is very impressive.

Bill Mick was trying to stay above the fray and give everyone in the primary a fair shake, but I think he tipped over the line yesterday.

One more inside baseball thing, the one sour note in the radio interview was the guest worker discussion. I thought his answer was good, but using the term is waiving a red cape in front of a bull. The same question came up last night, and he had a much better answer to the question. The principle was the same, but the example he was using was a lot better and much less contentious. He clearly thought about his answer during the day, and worked to improve it.
