is not etched in stone. For example, if that were the case then the philosophy of separate but equal espoused in Plessy v. Ferguson would be the law of the land today. A previous ruling can be overturned although it is rare. Given that Citizen's United is a mere two years old, some believe it is ripe for being overturned. The longer it sits on the books, the less likely it is to be overturned. Of course, Congress can, through a Constitutional amendment, change a ruling of the Court (as is what happened with the Dred Scott decision).

Isn't it the case that once decisions like these are made the ruling is etched in stone? If the Supreme Court rules that the Constitution says it, then it must be forever true. You would think that the liberals would be aghast at Montana undermining the Constitution like that. Isn't this the standard they apply to conservatives on Roe vs Wade?
