Mainstream Media Ignores Potential Fraud In Obama Fundraising

Sweep! Sweep! Sweep!

On October 1, TMR reported on a NewsMax article by Keith Timmerman that pointed out the potential for massive fundraising fraud in the Obama Campaign. From that report:

A Newsmax analysis of the 1.4 million individual contributions in the latest master file for the Obama campaign discovered 1,000 separate entries for Mr. Good Will, most of them for $25.

In total, Mr. Good Will gave $17,375.

Following this and subsequent FEC requests, campaign records show that 330
contributions from Mr. Good Will were credited back to a credit card. But the most recent report, filed on Sept. 20, showed a net cumulative balance of $8,950, still well over the $4,600 limit.

The numbers for Mr Pro are even more questionable.

Similarly, a donor identified as Pro, Doodad, from Nando, NY, gave $19,500 in 786 separate donations, most of them for $25. For most of these donations, Mr. Doodad Pro listed his employer as ‘Loving’ and his profession as ‘You,’ just as Good Will had done.

But in some of them, he didn’t even go this far, apparently picking letters at random to fill in the blanks on the credit card donation form. In these cases, he said he was employed by VCX and that his profession was VCVC.

Following FEC requests, the Obama campaign began refunding money to Doodad Pro )in February 2008. In all, about $8,425 was charged back to a credit card. But that still left a net total of $11,165 as of Sept. 20, way over the individual limit of $4,600.

Well, the Mainstream Media has examined the evidence, and chosen to sweep it under the rug. From the New York Times news service we get this headline: Bogus Campaign Donors Raise Questions on Obama Fundraising

Alright, you might say, the MSM has taken up this story and will expose the fraud. In the words of a popular car rental commercial; Not Exactly!

Note the two anonymous donors mentioned above in the NewsMax article. No mention of those two contributors who combined for nearly $38,000 of illegal contributions between them. Instead, the Times looks at:

Last December, somebody using the name “Test Person,” from “Some Place, UT” made a series of contributions, the largest being $764, to Sen. Barack Obama’s presidential campaign totaling $2,410.07.

Someone else identifying himself as “Jockim Alberton,” from 1581 Leroy Ave. in Wilmington, Del., began giving to Obama last November, contributing $10 and $25 at a time for a total of $445 through the end of February.

The Times, and therefore all of the other MSM outlets that reprint word-for-word what the Times puts out, makes it a point of letting the readers to understand that these illegal contributions “represent a tiny fraction of the record $450 million Obama has raised.” And, of course, the Times makes sure to point out that there are some questionable contributions to Sen McCain as well, although he has raised less than half of what has been raised by Sen Obama.

Move along folks, nothing to see here. Move along!

There is no evidence that questionable contributions amount to anything more than a )small portion of Obama’s fundraising haul. The Times’ analysis, conducted over just a )few days and looking for obvious anomalies, like names with all consonants, )identified about $40,000 in contributions from people that appeared not to exist. And )these donations had not been refunded by the campaign as of its last filing with the )Federal Election Commission in September.

Why, if I had not read NewsMax I would never know about the $34 million from overseas donations — donations from such destinations as Iran, China or the United Kingdom. The Times makes no mention of those questionable donations.

And finally, of course, the Times explains it all away as new technology, and not anything in any way indicative of the campaign.

Although campaigns have long wrestled to some degree with questionable donations, )Sheila Krumholz, executive director of the Center for Responsive Politics, said the )record-setting number of new donors Obama has drawn, many of them online, presents )obvious new challenges to a compliance system that remains stuck in the past.

It is truly sad what the Old Gray Lady has become. “All The News That’s Fit To Print” was once the proud motto of the New York Times. Today it is little more than a shill for the DNC and the Obama Campaign. And the rest of the Mainstream Media can claim to be no better.

Meaning, it served the MSM’s objective of electing Obama.

Thus, there is no incentive for MSM to explore this kind of story. MSM networks are just rational Obama machines…they are fully aware of the old saying, i.e.:

Don’t wash MSM dirty linen in public.

Umm, actually, the New York Times and Boston Globe–two newspapers every conservative loves to hate— had this news piece as a front page article on their respective websites the other day (http://www.boston.com/news/nation/articles/2008/10/10/bogusdonorsraise_questions/).

did you register just to post that?? you “MODERATE”

      • David_Hinz

you cite the EXACT article I am talking about. THE cites in the article from the TIMES and the GLOBE focus on SMALL irregularities in the Obama donations, while ignoring HUGE illegal contributions from others.

YOU make my point for me — thank you.

    A Tankful of reporters.

    Or editors.

    Or publishers.

It’s painfully obvious if your brain has two neurons to scrape together.

When the evidence on any given issue becomes well known, and it is adverse to MSM’s boy or girl, the story gets coverage alright, but as “cut um off at the pass” kind of thing, and not full truthful story. For instance NObamas connection to Ayres, once it got well known, they figure well we have to do something, so they ask the guy being accused and then they write what he tells them. Not one bit of fact checking is even considered, just a “get it out there and play it down quickly” story. Now if it had been a Republican who had admitted to cocaine useage for years, or had hung out with domestic terrorists, or had said ” I want to take your money and give to other people who want it”, they would have dug up every morsel of info under every rock the Republican had ever stepped foot on. Remember what happened to Palin in Alaska. Did you see what happened to Joe the plumber ? ( who by the way practices under his boss’ liscence-legal- and goes by his middle name Joseph-Joe for short for those of you in Rio Linda )Now that was some in depth reporting right there ! So, we see they are capable, but very selective. Can you imagine the length and time of the stories from MSM would have been had they found any of the many strange radical socialist ties that NObama has had -in Palin’s closet ?. I mean, they don’t even know what NObama’s grades were in college, can’t seem to dig it up. They can’t find a copy of his birth certificate. How is this stuff a non story ????? Could it be because he’s a Democrat….YESSSSSSSS !!! The boy is running for president of the U.S.A. !!! Sean was right, journalism is dead !!!!!!!! How about the Foley issue in FLA just before last election he had a sex scandal and it was used daily to prove how hypocritical and corrupt the Republicans were, and at the same time you had the Enron financial scandal tied ONLY Republicans. Contrast that to now same time period before the election and you have the Dem that took Foley’s seat actually having sex with two bimbos, now getting divorced, and Fanie Mea and Fredie Mac melting down under Dem oversight and neglect with one overseer Barnie Frank dating one of the fanancial institutions board members, another dude. And it’s not important ! Why ?…DEMOCRATS, THAT’S WHY ! And right afer attacking Cindy McCain, the New York Slimes comes out and says “we are non biased”. LOL…LOL….LOL…ETC….

MSM hearts Obama. They will cover nothing that might harm him, trust me.

I am just sick and tired of trying to fix ** stuff at RS

If their anointed one gets elected, I wonder if they will cover and obfuscate for his entire presidency, or if the truth will become so obvious they have to at least mention it.

Barack Obama and ACORN are cut from the same cloth, and it doesn’t look like it’s going to wear well. Their sense of entitlement is too strong. At least 50% of Americans aren’t going to live out the next 4 years in silence.

I personally think is just crazy to throw $450 million on a campaign. Imagine what that amount can do to save companies, people, etc.
Instead this fund as a political juice which are badly audited can be used to fan internet, MSM, fetch people to turn-out, create bogus ads.

Frankly, American politicians have gone crazy.

John McCain did ask Obama for a cap in the beginning but was rejected and we all know why.

a few months back! It’s not at all surprising considering Mr. Soros’ financial acumen and resources!
