Kentucky sheriff to defy any Obama gun grab

Jackson County Sheriff Denny Peyman has some advice for federal officials attempting to confiscate legal guns held by citizens in his jurisdiction: “go ahead, make my day.”
Sheriff Peyman says he is very concerned about proposed federal legislation that could result in massive gun ownership bans and orders of confiscation.
“My office will not comply with any federal action which violates the United States Constitution or the Kentucky Constitution which I swore to uphold,” Peyman said. “Let them pull that stuff in other places if they want, but not in Jackson County, Kentucky.”
Peyman hopes his strong stand in support of the Second Amendment encourages law enforcement officers around Kentucky and elsewhere to reassure citizens of their protection from overzealous federal action on gun control.
“Just a few of us have to be willing to stand up to political opposition putting our people at risk,” Peyman said. “The other side will back down.”

Citizens need to assert their constitutional rights as well and refuse to be disarmed.

The feds need to butt out, period. All of the answers to prevent Newtown tragedies lie at the state level. As usual, those pushing for federal solutions have no respect for federalism and will never accept how ineffectual answers from D.C. always are. We need a new adage: Keep it local, stupid.

If Obama can instruct his administration to ignore enforcement of specific laws (like the DOM act), we can ALL encourage our local and state law enforcement departments to ignore specific Presidential Directives…..

I’m all for local politics. However, Obama can instruct his cabinet to do things in a particular way by executive order. He can’t instruct governors that way though. That has to be done by legislative action.

So, if its a matter of law, the local and state law enforcement are compelled to enforce the law. If its an executive order, Obama will have to send the G-men.

Even then, the legislation must be Constitutional. That is what is at stake here.

‘Laws they are not therefore which public approbation hath not made so.’

That principle is embodied in our Constitution. Obama has, with the help of a spineless Congress and lawless (Democrat) Senate, done his darndest to circumvent our Constitution. That does not mean local and state agents are compelled to be accessories to that.
