Politics aside, I have experienced an awakening of sorts the last week or so. I can only speak from my life awareness as a woman about this phenomenon. Since hearing Sarah Palin speak a few times, I have felt an enormous surge of possibility, confidence and inspiration as a female.
I’m not a ‘feminist’. In my opinion, those women who have cloaked themselves in that banner are surprising silent during this opportunity handed to them on a silver platter. Are they rallying around Sarah as they have other female leaders who represented more of their off-center agenda? NO.
It’s certainly not that Sarah isn’t capable enough. She’s strong, skilled, sharp, sensitive and sassy. I think it’s political sunscreen that’s blocking the healing warmth generated by this astounding, yet everyday woman. They just don’t seem to be awakening to the gift Sarah has given us.
Politics aside, that gift is astounding in its potential. This week I have felt more hopeful and empowered as a wife, mother and woman than I ever have. I have embraced the opportunity to come closer along side my husband. Isn’t that God’s original intent, to be a strong competent compatible partner?
I have felt braver. Case in point: I have faced a snake with confidence and shot a gun. A new capability has possessed me. Lingering back in an unsure female position (whatever that was) has fled. I feel more comfortable in my own skin. I stand firmer and taller.
Alaska’s slogan is the “Last Frontier”. What woman doesn’t wonder if she would have been strong enough to have trailblazed along side her man as they struck off for the Wild West, Texas or Alaska before each were settled? Those were mighty strong men and women. They dared to push. To reach farther than their fellow city-rooted peers, in order to make a better life in an unknown territory. They dared to put feet to their dreams.
I believe Sarah Palin has struck a chord in a lot of women about Frontiers and Pioneering in their own lives. Ladies, what has been idling in your life behind the scenes, just waiting for the green flag to wave? What plans were shoved to the back burner because you believed you just couldn’t reach to attain it? Well, what ever those goals and dreams are, I’ve got good news for you. The flag is waving and the burner is set to red hot.
Now is the time to accept our inspiring roles as full-fledged capable women, wives and mothers. Sarah Palin has opened a door. We can be who we were meant to be and do what we were meant to do with femininity, grace and style. By the way, the name Sarah means “Noble Princess”.
Some people say there are 18 million cracks in the ‘glass ceiling’ As Mayor, Governor and now Vice-Presidential Candidate, it appears as though Sarah Palin has not only broken through, but has built a door welcoming us in.
