Todd Aikin is DONE

Todd Aikin just admitted not reporting his pension income for 10 years. The JA has put the last nail in his coffin and due to his selfishness and hubris has lost the MO senate seat.

I guess that’s what happens when Democrats are allowed to help pick a Republican nominee. I fear that some of that happened this time for the Republican presidential race. Akin’s type of conduct gives real Christians a bad rap. UGH.

    • tyman

Of course, after last night’s debate, if Dems helped to pick Romney I’m oh so thankful!

    • keepcoolwithcoolidge

A shame. Steelman would have been good.

      • votemout2012

Steeleman came in last even with Palin.

    • votemout2012

Please supply some proof of that claim please. Akin has had the conservative support in MO. That is how he won the election. So what if McCaskill had 1 favorable TV AD. Brunner had 8 million worth of attack ads and Akin still won.

      • tyman

Democrats spend $1.5 mil to help him get elected because they perceived him as the weaker candidate…based on this, it’s better than probable that Dems voted for him. It’s like Rush’s “Operation Chaos”…I’ve never liked that, BTW, because it can backfire.

        • votemout2012

How do you explain the 9 million Brunner unleashed on Akin in primary in attack ads. 9 million had no effect only the 1.5 million Dems spent. I worked the polls there were no cross over dems voting for Akin. Turn out was low.

    Psssst…Akin not Aiken. Must be a Cowboy’s fan :)

    • DerKrieger

I misspelled it Aikin, not Aiken :)

Not a Cowboys fan but I did once live in Aiken, SC!

      • jamesm

I wanted McCaskill gone…so so bad. I hope people in Missouri vote against McCaskill but this Akin dude ain’t very bright. This is a message for the religious right. If you are going to back a candidate then make sure the guy is 1) not a political idiot and is articulate 2) has a better chance of winning than another pro-life Repub

Well, MO voters did vote a dead man into office, so anything can happen.

  • RedState

There are options. The first one would require that asshat to officially drop out. Then people could get behind Kit Bond as an independent write in. I doubt he will do it, since he is as arrogant as Obama, and maybe as stupid.

Another method is to get him in anyway. The senate refuses to seat him, or he’s found guilty of rules violations, and a special election is called.

But McCaskill can’t be allowed to win. Yeah, he sucks. But better to deal with his asshattery than with hers…

    Damn, I despise that man.

  • tngal

While I stood by him after the “statement” issue, this is something that will be extremely difficult to overcome. ( And reince preibus is still a twit, regardless. )

    • RedState

“And reince preibus is still a twit…”

Well yes, that goes without saying! I also came out for him (after he decided not to drop out). I figured that he was better than McCaskill.

But we can’t support the same sort of corruption that Rangel and others are guilty of. I think that it should be made clear that if he doesn’t drop out, and he wins, he will be immediately investigated for ethics violations.

But we have to get McCaskill out.

The link doesn’t seem to work… where did he not report the pension income? If he left it off his federal tax forms to reduce his tax liability somehow, wouldn’t that have been illegal? I’m surprised that this doesn’t seem to have been covered elsewhere– I’d think the MSM would be all over this…

Politico? Politico! Since when do we rely on left wing blogs for our news? Stop with the Aiken bashing, please. Control of the Senate is at stake here.

        • jamesm

Support the Republican nominee or shut up!
You know your right. Any disagreements with the nominee should be in private.
          .
Ban Akin diaries. BTW I don’t want to see this guys name anymore..so we are in agreement. But dude…I have encouraged people to vote for him (Against McCaskill) So get your facts straight.

Is this really a big deal? It looks like he failed to report his pension to the House Ethics Commission. It’s not like he cheated on his taxes or anything.

    • jamesm

      Ammo for the bad guys.

      • DerKrieger

Exactly. Just another club with which to beat him about the head and shoulders.

        • Bill S

Yeah. So why are you contributing to it?

    • jimmyg

I agree, not such a big deal and does not likely add any more injury to Akin. Although I am not minimizing the previously reported self inflicted wounds.

Compared to Aire Claire ethics issues, this just evens the score a bit, and its a secondary issue. Yawn. not diary worthy. (“This was an unintentional oversight and I regret any inconvenience this may cause,” the Missouri congressman wrote in a letter dated Tuesday to the chairman of the House Ethics Committee.) Not a Geitner-level ‘oversight’.

What WOULD be diary worthy? A rundown of ALL the senate races and candidates to support.

  • jakeincarolina

    Bye bye Senate control. [edited]

  • votemout2012

WOW I got an idea. Why not write an article on Liberal witch Claire McCaskill. Why not highlight her AWFUL record since she as been in the Senate. Why not write an article taking about some of Akin attributes. How Akin said has no to his own party when they were wrong. No child left behind, Medicare part D, Tarp just to name a few. I am so sick of seeing crap like this at RedState. Akin will win in MO despite the conservative pile on.

  • Freiheit

Just leave it alone? For all intents and purposes, we probably lost the MO Senate seat. You do not need to keep talking about it, or providing the other side with ammunition because you’re only going to end up hurting the down ticket Republicans if you do.
