Subsidies and regulations are the tools whereby the Government gets to decide what industry (or even individual company) is benefitted or damaged.

The addition of costs and requirements or the introduction of a tax incentive or loan or grant or protection against competrition are the staples of Lobbyist influence peddlling in DC. A President who spends time attending more fund raising events than the Presidency recorded for any other in History is very well aqware how this game is played and he has shown clearly he is able to play to his constituancy to "redistribute the wealth" to them and increase the costs to those that they wish to see decline.
Obviously the "SUIGAR MIUST BE SWEET" to the Democratic Party and its Rino brothers.

ARE GOVERNMENT welfare.

If we should have subsidies, then we should also have free food...

Sounds pretty absurd, no?

It needs to taken out of the hands of legislators, by amendment. An amendment that says the government may not give any money, tax breaks or other special treatment to ANY industry.

It's a shame, we have to consider taking powers away from elected officials, only because they cannot be expected to act responsibly on their own.

I'm not saying that's a bad thing.
Maybe we need to report voting differently.

Voted yes
Voted no
Voted present
Abstained
Absent
Voted beholden
Or, some such. If all votes were reported truthfully and fully, Our congressional employees might do a better job of remembering who they really work for. And, it would be easier for the rest of us to know when it was time for re-training or replacing them.

since gadzillions go to mega-businesses and not small farmers and small farmers often get paid for for not growing on their driveways and ponds. Plus, the Ag.
