The First Likely Voter Poll from Fox News Portends Mostly Good News

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  August 23rd at 09:10 PM  |

Earlier this afternoon Fox News posted their first likely voter poll of the campaign, which shows Mitt Romney leading Barack Obama 45%-44%.  Many of us were wondering how the polling would look once the pollsters switch to a likely voter screen – a model which is almost always more favorable to Republicans than a poll of registered voters.  This poll of 1,007 likely voters is | Read More »

    Paul Ryan: Risk and Opportunity

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  August 13th at 08:45 AM  |

So, will Romney’s pick of Paul Ryan as VP help or hinder his chances to defeat Obama?  That is the million dollar question Republican pundits and grassroots activists are frantically asking this week. One serious flaw with much of the post-analysis of any VP selection during a presidential campaign is the singular focus on the pick himself without any regard for the top of the | Read More »

“I’m Moderate David Dewhurst, and I Approve this Message”

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  May 30th at 11:00 AM  |

It’s game time for the conservative movement.  With the Wisconsin recall fizzling out by the day, it appears that the runoff between Dewhurst and Cruz will be the most important battle for conservatives this year.  We must not sit this one out! Last night Dewhurst won by just 10.4 points, despite enjoying a bigger lead in the polls throughout the entire duration of the campaign.  | Read More »

What’s at Stake Today: Creating a Conservative Bench in Conservative States

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  May 21st at 10:43 PM  |

Today is the calm before the storm of next week when conservatives will be involved in the marque fight of the cycle; Ted Cruz vs. David Dewhurst in Texas.  Nonetheless, there are primary elections in Arkansas and Kentucky today that will provide us with a couple pickup opportunities. Arkansas-4  Blue Dog Mike Ross is headed back to the Democrat kennel, creating a prime pickup opportunity | Read More »

It’s Time to Dump Upton for Jack Hoogendyk in MI-6

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  May 15th at 07:56 AM  |

It’s hard to think of a more liberal Republican that occupies a more consequential position in Congress than Fred Upton.  It’s not just the fact that the Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Committee, one of the most powerful House panels, is a big supporter of green energy.  It’s not just the fact that this same man was the Thomas Edison of the incandescent light | Read More »

It’s Game Time in Indiana and North Carolina

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  May 7th at 10:45 AM  |

The presidential primary is ostensibly over, but there are still many primary elections taking place that should be of interest to conservatives.  We often find ourselves bemoaning the lack of conservative members in Congress during the legislative session.  Well, it is during primary season that we have the opportunity to shape the orientation of Congress.  On Tuesday, Indiana and North Carolina will be holding primaries.  | Read More »

Eric Cantor Tries to Stop Stalwart Scott Keadle in NC-8

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  April 27th at 10:40 AM  |

This has been a tough week for conservatives in Washington.  Republicans in both houses are caving on the postal bailout, highway bill, appropriations, Ex-Im Bank, Violence Against Women Act, and the student loan bailout.  It’s not going to get easier when they come back from recess in May.  This is why we need game-changers like Scott Keadle in Congress.  Keadle is running in NC-8, the | Read More »

Romney Must Coalesce Around Conservatives, Not Vice Versa

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  April 25th at 08:37 AM  |

There is an interesting factoid that was overlooked from last night’s largely pro-forma presidential primaries.  According to University of Minnesota’s Eric Ostermeier, Romney was the first GOP frontrunner who failed to reach 60% in contests “conducted after his last major challenger dropped out of the race.”  Romney won just 56% of the vote in Delaware and 58% in Pennsylvania. Over the past few months, we’ve | Read More »

Editor’s note: This is the next endorsement on behalf of The Madison Project PAC in a continuing series of conservative endorsements for the 2012 congressional elections. Editor’s note: Here is the latest endorsement from The Madison Project It’s not too often that we have the opportunity to elect a conservative fighter who retired early from Congress and is seeking a second run.  But with Dan Burton’s retirement in Indiana’s 5th district, we have the prospect to elect a battle-tested fighter in former Congressman David McIntosh. Jon Bruning Would Still Vote for Holder

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  March 23rd at 10:45 AM  |

If we ever desire to win a conservative majority even within the Republican conference, we must elect unvarnished conservatives in solid red states like Nebraska.  That’s why we are supporting Don Stenberg, a man who has held consistent conservative views, for Senate. Mitt Romney: The Consummate Etch A Sketch

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  March 21st at 08:05 PM  |

Throughout the presidential campaign, we have been lampooned by the pale-pastel wing of the party for not coalescing around the Romney campaign with alacrity.  Our detractors have been stupefied by our stubborn opposition to “the only candidate who can beat Obama;” the man with the requisite resume, funding, organization, intelligence, and persona. By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  March 12th at 09:01 PM  |

We have spent all year inveighing against flaccid Republicans capitulating to the forces of big government.  Well, as the polls open in Alabama and Mississippi, now is our time to shine.  No – I’m not referring to the presidential election where we have a choice between several ‘evils of three lesser;’ I’m referring to the congressional elections. Your Entire House Delegation is Fired!

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  February 28th at 10:45 AM  |

“The Tea Party was born out of the conviction that gov’t shouldn’t pick winners and losers, yet that is all these losers have done in Congress.” If you think that the 2010 elections cleared out all of the dead wood from the House, you need to think again.  If you think that our only intra-party problems emanate from blue-district Republicans, you need a reality check. | Read More »

    Mitt Romney’s Debt Ceiling Deception

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  February 23rd at 11:12 AM  |

For the most part, last night’s debate was refreshing in the sense that the candidates were honest about their lack of conservatism.  Santorum, Gingrich, and Paul affirmed their support for some aspect of earmarking (although some parsed words), Rick Santorum owned up to his support of No Child Left Behind, Ron Paul unabashedly enunciated his support for Iran’s nuclear program, and Newt Gingrich also confirmed | Read More »

The Real Problem With Romney’s Comments

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  February 2nd at 07:49 AM  |

Yesterday, Mitt Romney caused a stir when he made the following remarks about the poor during an interview with CNN: “I’m not concerned about the very poor. We have a safety net there. Romney’s Big Healthcare Lie

By: Daniel Horowitz (Diary)  |  January 26th at 10:00 PM  |

Almost a full year into the presidential campaign, Romney finally received a full-fledged beatdown for his mendacity over healthcare.  He has the nerve to feign outrage over Obamacare, even while he touts Romneycare – a carbon copy of Obamacare – as a virtuous success, supported by 90% of Massachusetts residents.  Santorum did his homework, and called him out on the hypocrisy.  Romney was never able | Read More »
