Napolitano sent out a DHS-wide e-mail the other day touting the department’s exemplary efforts/plans to save money. In fact, we’re so great that the other departments are following our lead! Here are the groundbreaking, money-saving efforts:

    1. Minimize printing stuff that could be e-mailed or posted online.
    2. Use government space for meetings and training rather than renting space.
    3. Hold virtual meetings rather than traveling.

I literally LOL’d when I read that e-mail. I’m so embarrassed sometimes to be a part of DHS, I wish the Coast Guard had stayed in DOT…

Should be ‘…from its budget’ and ‘…learned its lesson.’

Not quite sure I follow, either–is the point that they could save $100 million in paper?

I do admit that I could do better with my grammar and spelling at times.

Part of his plan for cutting 100 million is to buy office supplies in bulk, rather than cutting wasteful earmarks.

    Well, that’s kinda silly.
