It’s time to wake up. This story (cartoon) is a great illustration why all those who say they will vote for One-bama if Romney is the candidate are simply morons.

Captain Zero cant do it alone…yet. The US hasn’t become a Banana Republic…yet. He still needs the consent from the insane clown circus in the legislature. Sigh…. :-( I guess we are without any hope of fiscal sanity.

It’s not the president. And the senate hasn’t passed a budget since … I stopped counting but it’s like a thousand days or so.

The House controls the purse strings. The House sets the budget. The House is in charge of spending. The GOP owns the House. And the 53 dems in the Senate can’t do anything without having at least a handful of republicans going along to get along.

So, if we want to complain about spending, it is our own party where the blame lies. Time to start holding some feet to the fire.

The President writes the budget and submits it to Congress.

Yes, Congress has the constitutional authority to enact the budget, but .. they don’t write it. They just scribble all over the one the President submits.

They could, in theory, throw it out and write a new one…. but that’s a huge duplication of effort because they would still need to know what the reasonable expenses of each agency are…

The House must go along with the president in order to pass his budget. I’m still not seeing any scenario where the president or senate have been running huge spending bills and the poor little helpless GOP is unable to stop them. The president only gets his money if the House gives it to him.

There are a lot more statists who like increasing the size of the Fed for their purposes, whose goal is to drive the government behemoth who have Rs after their names than we should like.

In short, there are enough Rs who will cross the aisle and vote with the Dems to give the President his money – the 2011 session is crystal clear on this point.

You are absolutely correct about holding GOP feet to the fire.

The tab was run up when congress appropriated the funds. that congress included the GOP controlled House and the GOP – addled Senate. the time to complain was then, when your folks agreed to this.

Why do you object so vociferously on paying the bills?
