The following it a letter from a soldier stationed in Afghanistan (the letter itself was posted on Hoosier a Indiana GOP website)

Here is the letter:

A Soldier’s Letter Home

I received an email from a friend, who has an acquaintance serving in Afghanistan at present. This soldier is giving his first hand account of Senator Barack Hussein Obama’s visit to Afghanistan.

Hello everyone,

As you know I am not a very political person. I just wanted to pass along that Senator Obama came to Bagram Afghanistan for about an hour on his visit to ‘The War Zone’. I wanted to share with you what happened. He got off the plane and got into a bullet proof vehicle , got to the area to meet with the Major General (2 Star) who is the commander here at Bagram.

As the Soldiers where lined up to shake his hand he blew them off and didn’t say a word as he went into the conference room to meet the General. As he finished, the vehicles took him to the ClamShell (pretty much a big top tent that military personnel can play basketball or work out in with weights) so he could take his publicity pictures playing basketball. He again shunned the opportunity to talk to Soldiers to thank them for their service.

So really he was just here to make a showing for the American’s back home that he is their candidate for President. I think that if you are going to make an effort to come all the way over here you would thank those that are providing the freedom that they are providing for you.

I swear we got more thanks from the NBA Basketball Players or the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders than from one of the Senators, who wants to be the President of the United States. I just don’t understand how anyone would want him to be our Commander-and-Chief. It was almost that he was scared to be around those that provide the freedom for him and our great country.

If this is blunt and to the point I am sorry but I wanted you all to know what kind of caliber of person he really is. What you see in the news is all fake.

Secondly, as I said in the other diary, the Army is pushing back on this one. The assertions in the e-mail are counterfactual according to the US Army.

But angry Army brass debunked the Obama-bashing soldier's allegations, which went viral Thursday over the Web and on military blogs such as Blackfive.

The e-mail claims Obama repeatedly shunned soldiers on his way to the Clamshell - a recreation tent - to "take his publicity pictures playing basketball."

"These comments are inappropriate and factually incorrect," said Bagram spokeswoman Army Lt. Col. Rumi Nielson-Green, who added that such political commentary is barred for uniformed personnel.

Obama didn't play basketball at Bagram or visit the Clamshell, she said. Home-state troops were invited to meet him, but his arrival was kept secret for security reasons.

"We were a bit delayed ... as he took time to shake hands, speak to troops and pose for photographs," Nielson-Green said.

So there's really no fire here. Just somebody blowing smoke (not the diarist, mind you).

  is quite simple, without regard to the letter. Obama doesn't give a tinkers dam about the troops, his actions in Germany more than underscored that.
  
  And he was not barred from the hospitals by the Pentagon, he could have gone by himself if he really gave a damn. GWB has made numerous visits to military hospitals and met with families of the fallen (including one family we know personally who's son served with mine in the Marine Corps) and he doesn't take the press or a troop of people with him. His visits are never publicized by him or the party and specifically with respect to meeting with families of the fallen, the press is put off limits to the families unless a family member reaches out to the press.
  
  Barack Obama is a self-serving, self-aggrandizing, cheap Chicago politician. And he's not even very good at it.

    As to your tangent? It's funny how nobody here at RedState mentions that Senator Obama did visit our wounded on the first leg of this trip (the CODEL portion) and that the dust-up with the .mil occured the day before his planned visit to Landstuhl. I don't care who you blame for that one, the fact that the .mil didn't convey their concerns until the day prior is damned sloppy. They had to know his itinerary.

    Oh come on Mike, Obama made up for the snub to Landstuhl.
    
    He was in Paris by the time the fit his the shan so he took time out from his busy schedule to phone some of the troops at Landstuhl.

  If there's ever been a born baby-kisser, it's the Obamassiah. If there was a reporter within 300 miles, you can bet that Barry would have taken the opportunity to be seen making nice with the little people.
  
  That's not to say, of course, that he would actuall listen to anyting any one of them or any of thier commanders might have to say. People in the military are the conceptual opposite of victims, and the far left is ONLY interested in victims; they can be easiliy bought with promises of payoffs from the governmetn coffers. That's why the left is SOOOO concerned with funding for veterans affairs but opposed to funding active-duty troops.

No Uniforms at the White House

Need to remind everyone that the last Dem President banned Military Uniforms from the White House. The military were used as servants to the arrogant leader. The distain for the military personnel has never gone away from the Democratic party. They don't care why they have the right of freedom or for that matter why Americans have died so they may have the freedom of speech to condemn America. When a candidate goes overseas and can't find the time to thank or visit the wounded troops but can speak to foreign people about the torture and misdeeds of the American people, well that says all I need to know about the messiah.

I just hope all of you in Afghanistan remember how your were treated, when its time to place your vote. You will be picking our next Commander-in-Chief. Maybe NBA players or Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders would make a better Senator.

The only thing that bothers me, is why don't we hear about this in our papers, or on the news cast. This is turning into a one sided affair, and those printing and talking the news well I wonder who they are for?
