It is rare that one gets a chance to realize the historic nature of a series of events while they are still ongoing – to watch history unfold before your very eyes. But, this is one of those times. We need not look back in reflection to see how the winds of change are sweeping through America this week. With the nation more despondent with their leaders than ever before, one act of arrogance allowed the American people to see that there is a voice for them in Washington.
Last Friday, as we stood ready to speak on behalf of the millions of Americans crippled by high gas prices, the microphones in the House of Representatives were cut off and members were denied an opportunity to speak to and for the American people. As the lights fell, House Republicans became energized around one shared understanding: the American people will not tolerate having their voices muzzled. So we began to speak. Instead of being shut out, we fought for American energy in the dark until the last tourists were shuffled out of the hallowed House chamber.
One week later, our voices are still going strong in the darkened chamber, and a gust of change has been carried from Washington out to the American heartland.
The American people are no longer willing to allow their leaders to put partisanship, special interests, or vacation before serious solutions. They will no longer accept an abandonment of the American can-do spirit. We are a nation of achievers, and we will no longer allow the Speaker and a liberal Democrat majority tell us we cannot meet our energy needs.
As the events of this past week have shown, and the coming months will continue to demonstrate, the American people are taking back the People’s House. They don't want Speaker Pelosi to have free reign to impose her anti-energy views on unwilling Americans. Citizens across this great nation have risen and realized they have a voice in the House, even if the majority is intent on silencing it.
It took an act of arrogance to spark a fire, but it has been lit. In the coming weeks and months, House Republicans pledge to hold the feet of this liberal majority to that fire. Just as the American people, we will not accept the Democrat majority’s indifference to America’s challenges.
With your help, we will fight back. We simply ask this of you: call your representative, Democrat and Republican, and ask them to join our call for more American energy. Prove that they are with the American people and not beholden to Speaker Pelosi. If they are serious about changes, serious about progress, every member will join us and demand Congress return to work for a positive solution to this energy challenge.

This morning I woke up to another hit to my finances because the electric company now wants in on the action of bilking consumers. A 10-20% increase, as a matter of fact. Over the last couple of years, we've seen several rate hikes in utilities from water to natural gas to electricity. On top of that we're paying more for other basic necessities, such as food and clothing. But wages haven't grown along with the cost of living.
I'm not a wealthy person but I never thought of myself as a poor person, either, until these last few years.
I appreciate what you're trying to do in Congress right now, I really do. However, I believe it has gone on too long with no respite in sight.
I don't have a lot of credit card debt and I've done my very best to live within my means. We don't even own two cars. Yet, the more I try to conserve my means, the more others take it away until now my means won't cover my necessities.
Sorry to be so negative but there's only so much an average American can take and this one has reached her limit.

Congressman,
I applaud what you and your collegues are doing, but the lack of MSM coverage here in Minneapolis, is absolutely deafening. This is more of a net-only event than the Victorias Secret fashion show.
Here's my reccomendation: classify the entire proceeding as Top Secret, and send videos of it to the CIA. That should guarantee front-page coverage in the NTY, MSNBC, and the AP newsfeeds.
If that doesn't work, try to get Angelina Jolie to adopt one of you.

Have you seen Ron Paul?

I called my Congressman's Texas office today to see where he was. They told me they didn't know. I suggested he get up to Washington as there was a Revolution underway and he might just want a piece of it.
Anyone seen him up there?

From one of your constituents...I'm proud that you are stepping up and being a leader on the energy issue. Keep up the good work--we are behind you!

Wow on the new 3.0 (I've been away a little while).
My sincere thanks go to Reps. Price, Pence, Hensarling, Boehner and others. I live in VA-10, and in looking up Rep. Wolf's office number, discovered a press release from Monday that he was down on the floor supporting the effort. I ended up phoning his office anyway, just to thank him for his support. I was told that he has been down there "several times" this week, but he's not the type to make the national circuit.
It seems the tide has turned on this issue, and it is only a matter of time until Pelosi is forced to reconvening the House prior to Labor Day - for if she doesn't, she risks losing the House altogether in November.

Thank you Congressman!

and the rest of your colleagues making this courageous stand.
Ill avoid the temptation to say better late than never and applaud the show of backbone from those of you fighting the good fight for freedom.
One other request I would thrw in and that you and those fighting this fight work on the rest of the Republican Caucus to ignore the conventional wisdom that this is a bad year for Republicans based on history and stop the defeatist attitudes that seems to be so pervasive in the Washington wing of our Party.
Its time to FIGHT, FIGHT FIGHT and those of you making this stand have made a great beginning!

I thought to recheck the main post page before resubmitting after a failed load the first time, even checked twice, but obviously I didn't wait long enough. (Mods - feel free to delete this and the duplicate message. My sincere apologies!)
