Obama, Islam and Polling

Democrats Care Whether Obama is Muslim; Republicans Don't

Gallup did another poll on the silly issue of "Is Obama Muslim?" They find that 12% of Rs and 12% of Ds think Obama is Muslim. So it's not just a partisan thing. Interesting, they don't break it down by education or income which I presume make a difference.

First, 12% is a ludicrously low number for getting a basic fact wrong among Americans, so I'm not sure why the MSM is so concerned. More people think 9/11 was an inside job. Something like 75% of Americans think we're in a recession. Sure, the economy has slowed down and their have been a lot of worrisome signs, but "recession" has a definition and we aren't in one yet. Somehow I don't remember seeing the media self-flagellate over why so many Americans are mistaken about such a basic fact.

Second, and more relevant to this specific poll, it seems Democrats care much more whether Obama is Muslim or not.

There is no difference in support for McCain among Rs who think Obama is Muslim and Rs who think he is Christian. Their support for McCain is identical regardless of their view about Obama's religion.

However, support for Obama among Ds who think he is Muslim is 28 points lower than among Ds who think he is Christian.

This may be due to a) Clinton supporters who bought into the Clinton-inspired Muslim lies, b) Democrats who don't like Obama nor Muslims and thus associate the two, or c) Something else entirely.

Whatever the cause, the MSM does not even seem to care that this is mostly an issue where Democrats are concerned about religion, just as Democrats seem more concerned about gender and race than with policy, leadership, experience, or ability.

Maybe he's not Muslim but..."there's something kind of "Muslim-y" about him. I know there's no proof or anything, but I take his denials with a big 'ole grain of seasalt."

Malik Obama - the half-brother of Barry - was shocked to learn of the news that Barack is not a Muslim.

  2. Who don't they ask if people think he was raised a Christian?

The media have gone bananas over polls showing that a lot of Americans believe Obama was raised as a Muslim.

In fact, he was raised by an agnostic mother, by grandparents who were agnostic/Unitarian-Universalist, very briefly by a Muslim-turned-atheist father, and by a Muslim or Muslim/Hindu-animist/little-bit-of-everything stepfather who sent him to a school where he received Muslim religious instruction once a week.

Obama became a Christian when he joined a Christian sect closely allied ideologically with the Nation of Islam.

We now know how many people wrongly believe he was raised as a Muslim. But how many people believe wrongly that he was raised as a Christian? Why do the media ask one question, and not the other?

BTW, I couldn't care less what religious he was raised in. (I am not a member of any particular religious group, and I worked last year for a Muslim political candidate.) My point is that the media are so blinded by their pro-Obama bias that they notice every little instance in which Obama might be hurt by voters' false beliefs, but never notice cases in which he is helped by false beliefs.

    1. Not about raising

The poll was "is Obama Muslim"? He is not. He is a Christian of some variety who does not go to church.

This poll and most of them aren't about what Obama was raised but what religion he is today.

  3. Obama is a Black American - Get use to it

If Obama was in Rev Wright's church for 20yrs how could he be a Muslim. You can't have it both ways.

    1. Don't tell us that

      Dan McLaughlin (link)

Tell the Democrats. As Adam notes, the polls show that they are the ones who care and are confused.

  4. Rev. Wright was a Muslim too. Google it.

It seems that Obama's former "Church" gladly accepts members who are Muslim. Google it. Barry Obama is half-Black and half-White, but chooses to present himself as an African-American from Kenya and Muslim Indonesia.

The overwhelming majority of whites seem not to favor Muslims and favor whites like McCain. Google it.

    1. Don't go near there

Adriansoto, we're not going to go there. Just not going to do it.

I'd encourage you to drop it or I'll be unable to restrain Moe and really won't want to.

And if you have to ask why or get indignant about it, I'd suggest RedState probably isn't a good fit for you.

We try to avoid the whole "Barack is a muslim" meme because it really gets us no where. This feeds directly into it.

Who will stand on either hand and keep this bridge with me?
