Sorry - a la "The Exorcist" - that's all that ran through my head as I listened to the Obamessiah give his sermon at a place that once enjoyed a similar spectacle when Hitler addressed his OWN zealots...and we all know how well THAT worked out, don't we?

I'm likely "dirtied" by the speech because I first heard it as Limbaugh threw down his commentary throughout the hand-picked snippets he selected to further his points against Obama, but a read-thru later only helped support the Godfather's initial claim; Obama is staggeringly stunning with all this pretentiousness. Never before have I witnessed such reverence and grandeur for a kid who has no business being where he is, save for the love train he enjoys from the enabling media conglomerates and a lot of interesting personal connections.. This man makes me ill.

As Rush pointed out, Obama actually apologized for America, and he lifted himself up above his "American-ness" declaring he is a "citizen of the world"...

I come to Berlin as so many of my countrymen have come before. Tonight, I speak to you not as a candidate for President, but as a citizen -- a proud citizen of the United States, and a fellow citizen of the world.

First of all, were he NOT running for President, he would have been given quite a different venue. And, as Newsbusters reported, it took a freaking free concert to get the "thronging masses" there to begin with. You know, maybe I'll go to...I don't know, Jakarta perhaps...get U2 to play a free concert there, and see how many stoners stick around to hear what the "angry old white guy" has to say...I might get a couple thousand peeps to stick around because they, TOO, can't get out of the parking lots for a while...sheesh.

Barack Obama is very likely to be the next President of this country so before we get ourselves all lathered up let's think about his Presidency and the apologies he thinks the world is owed for American transgressions...and then let's call in a Priest to exorcise us from our demons. Cleansed, you see, we might actually be able to return to the chaste purity of the old times gone by when we all got along, there were no wars, and we all gave away our money to those around us who were unwilling or unable to fend for themselves...or to those who had been suppressed in some way by "the man" and his hatefulness...what's that? There never WAS such a time? Bah-facts mean nothing when you're talking about "Obama in Wonderland"...

Start here:
As we speak, cars in Boston and factories in Beijing are melting the ice caps in the Arctic, shrinking coastlines in the Atlantic, and bringing drought to farms from Kansas to Kenya.
Umm, no Barry, the ice caps and the coastlines are fine, thank you very much...and there have been droughts in Kenya since the times BEFORE there was any such thing as a "Boston"...bzzt-try again.
Will we acknowledge that there is no more powerful example than the one each of our nations projects to the world? Will we reject torture and stand for the rule of law? Will we welcome immigrants from different lands, and shun discrimination against those who don't look like us or worship like we do, and keep the promise of equality and opportunity for all of our people?

Ahh, yes-torture. As Limbaugh pointed out, he can only be talking about America in that passage. There is torture all around the world, everyday, legally sanctioned by governments and fundamental segments of a well-known religion I won't mention by name. To mention torture in the context of "the rule of law" clearly wags Obama's finger of reprimand at the US and issues we have had and resolved vis a vis Iraq. To do this on foreign soil, amidst the thronging masses of anti-Iraq Bush-haters made for good theater though...something Obama is very very good at.

And, as all good theater goes, so too does Obama flip himself over when he gets down to the lie that is "global warming" by directly contradicting himself:

This is the moment when we must come together to save this planet. Let us resolve that we will not leave our children a world where the oceans rise and famine spreads and terrible storms devastate our lands. Let us resolve that all nations -- including my own -- will act with the same seriousness of purpose as has your nation, and reduce the carbon we send into our atmosphere. This is the moment to give our children back their future. This is the moment to stand as one.

Hang on a sec-didn't he just say the coastlines were shrinking and we had droughts in Kansas and Kenya? How can we have shrinking coastlines AND rising oceans? Or droughts AND terrible storms? Ah, well, what do facts have with messianic group-think anyway?

I'm partial to this last big chunk because in here we find a man that speaks for the sake of utterance as he apologizes for American imperfections...and shows where he thinks he can take the world moving forward:

People of Berlin -- people of the world -- this is our moment. This is our time.

I know my country has not perfected itself. At times, we've struggled to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people. We've made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions.

But I also know how much I love America. I know that for more than two centuries, we have strived -- at great cost and great sacrifice -- to form a more perfect union; to seek, with other nations, a more hopeful world. Our allegiance has never been to any particular tribe or kingdom -- indeed, every language is spoken in our country; every culture has left its imprint on ours; every point of view is expressed in our public squares. What has always united us -- what has always driven our people; what drew my father to America's shores -- is a set of ideals that speak to aspirations shared by all people: that we can live free from fear and free from want; that we can speak our minds and assemble with whomever we choose and worship as we please.

Free from want? What man in his right man could actually convince himself that a Government can keep its constituents "free from want?" This man gives me goosebumps...and makes my wallet shrink from the open hands he means to wrap around it. I think he really IS possessed...and the obsessed who gush over him, including his media entourage and his enablers back home that didn't get a seat on the coronation victory tour, only help guarantee we have to listen to this drivel for the next 8 years...16 if he gets a Constitutional amendment in time. Hell, he's so young, we might have Barry for life if this Obamaligion™ takes hold.

Remember these words from Obama:

But I also know how much I love America. I know that for more than two centuries, we have strived -- at great cost and great sacrifice -- to form a more perfect union

And remember we'll be paying through the nose (great cost and great sacrifice) for his version of this "more perfect Union" he's apologizing to the world for our not having achieved just yet.

  1. Barack's "Mission Accomplished" Whirlwind Tour

    derechista (link)

Barack Obama's fact-finding mission to the Middle East and Europe has devolved into a presumptuous victory parade. It reminds me of President Bush's landing on the aircraft carrier, complete with the banner with the now-famous statement.

The Obama campaign's distribution of campaign material and posting banners with the O logo on foreign soil causes me to see him as equally presumptuous. Has Obama been crowned yet? Did I miss something?

I just hope the average American has the same reaction.

    1. Elaborate "equally presumptuous" please

      CincoSolas_del_Bronx (link)

I would love to hear a point-by-point comparison of the details which would cause to say that Senator O's behavior is equivalent to President B's.

And then for the sake of those who might be having the same thought under the identical response you put up elsewhere, it might be thoughtful to enlighten them as well, no?

I watched Pres. Bush's landing on the aircraft carrier and was terribly proud of the moment at the time. In retrospect, however, Bush's appearance (which included the propaganda banner) was inappropriate and premature. We wouldn't have had to ramp the war back up, through the successful surge, were this not the case.

Obama's CAMPAIGN stops in Israel and Europe have been equally inappropriate and premature.

One example of inappropriate behavior was the use of campaign signs at the holy wall in Israel. Mind you, it would have been one thing if adoring Israelis had gone to Obama's website, downloaded his logo in Hebrew, had it printed at the Jerusalem FedEx Kinko's, and carried it to the holy site for Obama's arrival. But, no, the Obama CAMPAIGN posted the signs at the holy site.

It was premature of Obama to speak to a crowd of 200,000 Germans as if he were already POTUS. His overly public presence, complete with pronouncements imploring the German people to follow his vision for the world, was far too presidential for the junior senator from Illinois.

In short, it would have been appropriate for Obama to have actually gone on a fact-finding tour. It also stands to reason that, during such a visit, he would have met privately with foreign leaders. And, in this modern age, it seems, he may have been entitled to distribute behind-the-scenes photos of such encounters during the trip. But, Barack didn't no where to stop with his coming out party.

And such inappropriate behavior from a man who claims to have mastered the art of judgment?

        1. you still didn't show where the 2 are equally presumptuous.

          Aaron Gardner (link)

It was not presumptuous for Bush to give a pep talk to his soldiers, him actually being the CINC and all. The banner was made presumptuous by the media not the administration.

As for Barack...yeah he was definitely presumptuous, but from the way you wrote your comment you don't appear to really care about his actions as much as you want to try and make him look like he eqauls the President...so I still doubt and find you trollish.

My first choice for president was Fred Thompson, who was the only true conservative in the race. I even bought the Fred 08 football jersey from his campaign store. Never wore it, though: he dropped out soon after I received it. You want proof of this? Provide me your mailing address and I'll send you the jersey.

Equal? Sure, I used the word. I don't have the equation to figure that one out, but I do think it was a mistake for Bush to have declared "mission accomplished" too soon. Yeah, the media take every occassion to excoriate and humiliate Pres. Bush; but I still think it was a mistake by him. There were further steps to be taken in Iraq before declaring such a thing.

Obama is an empty suit who overplayed his weak hand during his political parade in the Middle East and in Europe. I spent five paragraphs on Obama compared to one on Bush. Shouldn't this give you a clue as to my true political persuasion?

        2. Well, you tried, but it doesn't fly

No need to repeat Crowe's response to you, which echoes my own thoughts.

Your insistence on the term "equally", repeated downthread, when coupled with your apparent desire to begin your posting life here with a hastily spambotted post the point of which seems to be that Senator Obama's behavior is indistinguishable from that of President Bush, while overtly defending your conservative stripes--and yes, I happened to know what your name meant before needing to be told--are all indicators of a mobyish frame of mind.

If you are truly think yourself among friends here, you should be able to realize that the heart of my linguistic disallowance of your favored term "equally" is that it, unlike "equivalently", "analogically", or "similarly" normally admits no concept of scale. And if you are claiming no difference of scale between the two persons, the two events, and the two categories of proclamation made, then I find it highly unlikely that you either consider yourself, or will find yourself, truly among friends here.

    2. The difference, of course...

      Crowe (link)

...between Obama's Middle East/Europe tour and Bush's speech on the aircraft carrier with the sign is that Bush was already Commander-in-Chief, really had been a military pilot, and the sign was accurate, as far as it was intended to mean (the mission for that ship, and for the major offensive operations in Iraq was, in fact, accomplished). Obama, OTOH, is still only a candidate for President with no record of accomplishment and no right or standing to make the grandiose statements he does make.

    You said:

How can we have shrinking coastlines AND rising oceans?

Rising oceans cause shrinking coastlines since as the water goes up the amount of land above water goes down.

Terrible storms and droughts are not globally mutually exclusive either.

While it's important to call Obama out on his BS, I think your stretching a bit too far on some of these points and that undermines your valid points. You end up coming across as petty.

    1. Obama's Globaloney Hype

      Freedoms Truth (link)

It's BS for Obama talk of stopping rise in oceans.

He has no solutions to what is in fact a non-problem. 1. Ocean rises has been measured in 1-2 mm/yr and have stopped in recent years, in parallel with the stopping of temperature increases. Temperatures are now lower than they were in the past 10 years. 2. He has no real solution. They certainly wont fix it with the cap-n-trade-n-tax-n-regulate plan.

It's all globaloney hype to peddle awful ideas.

Every time I turn around I am hearing yet another lifelong Dem muttering that there's no way on God's green earth that they will vote for him. While McCain isn't getting the acclaim and attention, he is reaping the benefit of the disillusionment that Obambi is sowing daily, sometimes hourly.

Don't give up the ship! The guy's going down---hard.

  7. haystack, I know what you are saying here, but

    janis (link)

I see the same thing happening this year that happened in 2004 with John Kerry and the media. They did all they could to drag him across the finish line, but it didn't work. And Obambi is even worse than Kerry was. (Did anyone ever think the Dems would pick someone WORSE than Kerry? )

But the media is even more distrusted now than they were then and it just gets worse for them with every openly-adoring story they write. Most of us out here in flyover country recognize pandering and lies when we see them, just as most of us can recognize an unqualified, empty suit, lying-when-his-lips-are-moving, arrogant megalomaniac.

His campaigning for the European vote is just the icing on the cake. The largest block of reliable voters---those of us 50 and older---remember our American history and know that Europeans haven't been able to decide our political destiny since 1776.

Take heart, haystack, and just look forward to the spectacle that awaits us all in Denver in a few weeks. For what it's worth, do what I do--when the news comes on and Obama's picture is the first thing shown, I switch channels. Two stations doing it simultaneously, I turn the TV off and come to read the news on the 'net. Not nearly as hard on the digestive system. Buck up, honey.

  8. He'll fix everything.

    IndependentfrMI (link)

Doesn't anyone wonder about what Mr. Obama sees when he looks in the mirror? I do and it scares me more than terrorism. He says he'll fix everyting if elected president. Oh really will he fix, the declining wages of the middle class? Will he fix the outrageous spending of Congress? Will he let Americans fix the energy crisis? The answer to all of these is NO! He will take from the people with wealth and that will tank the little growth in our economy that we now see(no so called expert saw the economy problems coming, that education paid off. Only McCain has pointed out this fact, ). If Obama is elected our govt will grow behond your wildest imagination further burdening American taxpayers. And as for the energy crisis, Obama will make us more dependent on foreign energy and not allow any new nuclear plants, no domestic production or exploration of fossil fuels, and with his new found wealth I'm sure he'll have a large estate somewhere where he'll not allow wind turbines to obstruct his view or boating (Ted Kennedy) What else will Obama do for America? Give education/healthcare to illegals, redistribute wealth, and further descimate the military all while taxing Americans right into poverty while offering them government programs to help. Socialism at it's finest!
